My bro, it's very sad. Our intelligence agencies need to step up their game.

Decibel brought up the tribalism thing, i hate when people feel they are better than others. I am dissapointed in the president i voted for too but i understand this mess is huge and wont just go away in a flash
my sister, don't be disappointed in the President u voted for one bit, I didn't vote for him, and I am not disappointed one bit.
Insurgency is very far different from regular warfare. I know all these, so when people were just abusing President Goodluck Jonathan, I just shudder. The insurgents don't wear uniform, they are regular people just like you and I. The boy buying chicken beside you at the market may be an insurgent, how do you know. The girl carrying groundnuts at the traffic, asking you madam to buy, may be an strapped with bombs, how do you know?
If you ask me, if I were the president during Yar'adua era when this uprising erupted, I would have adopted the Obasanjo method. Bomb and obliterate the whole of borno and Yobe states. That might have been extreme, but it would have worked big time.

Op, I support it. It is in the interest of National Security. Let's not pay evil for evil. I remember how Lie Mohd was running his mouth in the days of Goodluck Jonathan. We just need to come together and fight this evil, not for the hopeless disastrous APC, but for ourselves

The same way tribalism came into the matter
I believe in not paying evil for evil. I lived in Karu for 4 years, btw 2004 and 2008. That Nyanya bridge bus stop where this explosion happened again, the 3rd time, is where I usually go home from. A place I love so much. I usually park there and buy everything I want. So when I hear of explosions in that place I feel so sad.
A friend of mine has been trying to get into town since from there today. On Saturdays, ordinarily, it's a 2-5 minute drive, but he has been stuck in traffic for more than 3 hours now. Still there as we speak.
And one comes to nairaland, everybody is intent on talking about tribalism.
Check it, is it fair?

huh Many Abuja suburb are usually packed like a can of Sardine cos of the very high rent in the city center u see massive crowd milling about all the time .poor badly built housing,With no proper identification and address system, unplanned neighborhood, untarred road, no electricity in most places ,no pipeborn water ,thousands of black spots ,,overcrowding and peopled with different kind&manner of persons both Nigerian and foreigners living illegally in the country ,who such disoder and disorganized unplanned environment as safe haven and cover ,away from the prying eyes of security operative ,all these make PROPER SECURITY MONITORING A FUVKING. HERCULEAN TASK IN THE SUBURB huh the place is hell I'm telling u ....sigh

Rip to dead embarassed
I blame FCT ministers for this. El Rufai especially.
U can't just be demolishing houses and shops and expect the residents to go to hell.
Town planning. When u ask people to move, give them where to move to. He should have thought of the model used in South Africa where low cost houses were built for residents and got them moved into before demolishing their houses and building skycrappers. Same model used in UK after world war 2.
In abuja, the main towns are only occupied by expatriates and high earning civil servants. While the outskirts are dominated by the working class

so the word STRICTLY is what makes the President embarrassing to the international community? You insult your president because NCC and CBN are not strictly revenue generating agencies?
I am a Jonathanian, but I like people to make criticisms with facts and knowledge. Is there any department or agency of the government tasked with strictly generating revenue for the government? Fact is CBN and NCC generates revenue for the government.

Did you take out time to dig out the UN world population Report I cited? I hope you understand that even when there are conflicting opinions on any particular subject matter, opinions of international organizations like the UN are HIGHLY regarded?

I never refuted the claim that the CBN and NCC do not have the capacity of generating funds internally, I however asked if they are STRICTLY, revenue generating agencies, bearing in mind their core functionalities.
CBN and NCC are revenue generating agencies. Take it like that

I so love the elder Late Shehu YarAdua. The President Nigeria never had. Attended his campaigns then in Niger State from Suleja to Lapai to Agaie and ended in Bida. I believe Umaru YarAdua's tenure would have been fruitful if not for sickness and death

The first government I knew was Shagari's. So I speak from there.
From the depth of my heart, GEJ's government is the best from Shagari's era till date.
God bless the man Goodluck Jonathan.

Marotzke:
You took a whole lot of issues out of context. One, Osinbajo did not draw the list, and also not privy to it. So he could not correct Kukah, if the good bishop was wrong. His presence does not validate any gaffe made by Bishop Kukah. Secondly during PDP reign, States and geopolitical zones nominate individuals for ministerial appointments. Making a total of 42 ministers. With buhari already claiming that 36 is too much a number for ministers, the chances of Utomi making the ministerial list is minimal.

Correction, Nyesom Wike, was Rivers nominee for ministerial post, while Ama pepple was south south nominee. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala was the south east nominee for minister. Not Delta state. Pepple already got south south.
I will find it baffling if the Vice President of the Federal Republic is not privy to the ministerial list.
And ministers are selected from states not regions, so it wrong of you on Ama Pepple. U are right on Okonjo Iweala though. Women tend to have 2 states of origin. Where their fathers are from or where they are married to. Like Bukola Saraki's sister that contested for both senate and gubernatorial in kwara while she is married to an Oyo man.

CBN is a revenue generating agency.
When u provide banking services, don't you generate revenue? Is it a charity organisation?

It was Yorubas as usual who expressed outrage. The chest beaters quickly scurried back to their shells.
