Almost two months after he returned to the country from his medical trip to London, United Kingdom, President Muhammadu Buhari has yet to return to his office inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

But the Presidency says the situation has not in any way hindered the President from performing his duties.

Buhari, who arrived the country on August 19 to a wild jubilation by Nigerians after spending over 100 days abroad, has been operating from an office located inside his official residence and another one located inside the Presidential Banquet Hall.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, had said the President’s office needed renovation because of its devastation by rodents during his long period of absence.

“Following the three-month period of disuse, rodents have caused a lot of damage to the furniture and the air conditioning units,” he had said, explaining that it was impossible for the President to operate from the office in that condition.

Although he said he could not tell when the renovation would be completed, the presidential spokesperson had stated that the maintenance company had been asked to speed up its pace of work.

However, 56 days after the President’s return to the country, he has yet to resume in his office.

His residence and the Presidential Banquet Hall, where he operates from are less than five minutes’ walk from his office.

The President has been hosting meetings and other events in the two venues.

This week alone, he held separate meetings with some state governors and the nation’s security chiefs at the venues.

The President has also been attending weekly meetings of the Federal Executive Council inside the Council Chambers located less than 50 metres to his office.

Buhari has also been joining Muslim faithful for Juma’at service inside a mosque located behind the Council Chambers.

When contacted on Friday, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said where Buhari has been operating from are also offices.

Adesina said the most important thing is that the President is working.

The presidential spokesman was, however, silent on when Buhari will resume in his main office.

“Office na office. He (the President) uses one now, and the work goes on,” he simply said.

Our correspondent had sought to know from him the stage of the renovation in the President’s office; if there is any truth in the claim that Buhari does not plan to return to his office anytime soon; and when exactly he would return.

Illegal immigration is down by 46% and arrests of illegal immigrants is up by 28% How can you say nothing is being done? As for tax reforms, it's in the works. A lot of works are going on in both chambers at the Capitol and a tax reform bill will soon be proposed. It has been in the news for long. How on earth can you say nothing is being done? Kindly show us what makes the kneeling "unpatriotic"; if flag burning according to the US Supreme court is within the rights of a citizen; with relevant sections to back that lousy claim.
I'm waiting for what qualifies kneeling down during the anthem, a legitimate peaceful protest, as unpatriotic. Especially if you understand what the original idea of the founding of America and how Mr. Trump calls right-wing activists "nice people" under the present socio-political climate



As for the rest, I think it's safe to say Trump hasn't achieved anything tangible since assuming office:
North Korea is escalating beyond control. He is engaging their leader in a face off that he appears to be losing.
The Obama-care repeal is as good as DEAD since even members of his own party are disowning voting for it's repeal.
Tax reform, please that one hasn't even gone anywhere.

The ratings did factor in the electoral college. They said Hilary would win in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania (They called it her blue wall) she lost all three. If she had won them, she'd have won the electoral college. The polls have almost always been wrong about Trump and I believe they are wrong now. The Georgia run-off polls proved it. If we were to believe the polls, the GOP candidate would have lost that by about five points because of Trump's supposed unpopularity but guess what it wasn't even close. She trashed the democratic candidate by about ten points. If Trump were so unpopular as the polls would have us believe, how come the candidates he supported have won every single elections held this year?

The Supreme Court in the US has ruled that flag burning in itself is not illegal and is an affirmation of the first amendment (i.e. freedom of speech).

So I don't get what Trump is saying when the height of disrespect to a nation would be burning of its flag. And if flag-burning isn't illegal, then kneeling down during the anthem isn't either.


Trump need to get his act together and focus on more important things like the current standoff with North Korea, passing a repeal for Obamacare, getting tax reform done, which are issues mostly at the core of his electioneering campaign instead of beating about the bush and trying to score cheap political points.
He has only succeeded in escalating an insignificant issue into prominence. His abrasive leadership style won't lead the US anywhere.
