goldfish80: Fourier series can be used to represent signals as a summation of cosine and sine functions theoretically, so if you need to analyze a given system all you have to do is apply a sine or cosine input (and a couple of other unique inputs) to the system and because most signals can be broken down to these two signals then what applies to them applies to more complicated signals, this allows us to analyze the response of complex systems to a great number of inputs,,, Z transform is the equivalent of fourier transforms on discrete signals which can be calculated using differential equations,,, I'm glad we have an understanding about the physical usefulness and application of these Transforms. As you have clearly stated the physical applications in your comment, you may Wish to retract your earlier statement..., "These abstract equations just don't solve anything physically. Fourier series, Laplace transforms, inverse and hyperbolic functions etc are all hogwash. The only law I find relevant periodically is Kirchuff 's law on current when designing a circuit. I don't know what Mr Issac Newton was thinking when he came up with these abstract equations." |

goldfish80: You talk about signal processing and modulation principles but you stylishly left out the meat of the argument which is the practical use if Laplace transforms in signal propagation,,,, I put it to you a simple knowledge in converting differential equations into algebraic ones which allows for analyzing circuits in there transit state with the use of regular methods of solving differential equations, this greatly simplifies the effort needed to analyze and solve circuits which you don't necessarily need to gung-ho to the Laplace high road. I wish was a face to face confrontation, I would have used a chalk board to illustrate my point in detail. Laplace Transform, Z Transform and Fourier Transforms all have their part to play in signal processing with respect to discrete time signaling or the reverse. As a rule of thumb, signals are Not analysed in the time domain But in the frequency domain for obvious reasons. These transforms are used for these analysis. Filters at Designed based on mathematical transforms. Differential equations are all in the time domain and would Not provide a good analysis of these signals With respect to signal transmission. X. IT'S IS NEVER POSSIBLE TO DESIGN A PRACTICAL COMMUNICATION SYSTEM WITHOUT THE KNOWLEDGE OF SIGNAL PROCESSING IN BOTH TIME AND FREQUENCY DOMAIN. |

goldfish80: Listen, when you talk about signals, you talk about telecommunications. In telecommunications, basically you calculate signals between transducers, operational amplifiers, circuits, inverting Op amps etc etc. These are basically practical calculations. The Internet technology is based on network protocols not on some Laplace transforms, sorry to burst your bubble. I take it you studied mathematics. Not entirely true. Internet is based on protocols strictly for standardization purpose. OSI MODELS, Internet Model.. It's all for standardization and IETF is responsible for this. Internet communication is made possible either via Satellite, Mobile and Terrestrial Communication links. All you have mentioned has to do with electronic designs. Signal processing is an entirely different thing. Now, the 3GPP is a different body responsible for standardization of mobile technologies (GSM (some part of it), CDMA, UMTS, 4G and more recently 5G (yet to be standardized ). These technologies (sat and mobile ) makes use of signal processing , either on board a satellite or in the transmission channel DVB-RCS for example. In mobile the channels are quite different because of multipath propagations.. in OFDM for example a RAKE receiver is used to provide some gain (by mathematically summing these signals in the frequency domain )both at the mobile station or user equipment. You really don't want to get into this kind of argument with me. Hope my information was of use to you. I'm sure you learnt a few things. X |

I hate to say this But you are wrong. the technology you used in typing this is based on the underlying principles of advanced signal processing. Ever heard of digital to analogue conversion and the inverse process? Ever heard of FFT and IFFT used in OFDM systems (That's what 4G networks and some 802.11 technologies use ). Nigeria doesn't do much research into future tech. At the moment there is research going on for candidate 5G waveform carriers, and It's all based on mathematics. Without mathematics there Would be no technology. Appreciate the beauty of it. X |

MoyoGENERAL: Boss relax!!!!!!! not that we didn't hear about it..personally I heard but was damn too reluctant to get it!!!! so who will I blame? Cinfores? NUC? Those that were smarter than me to take time to digest the software? I can't blame anyone,,,,do you know why?
They SIMPLY UTILIZED the information they GOT! PERIOD!!!
and as regards if they are the best brains,, Bro I've met some of them, and I will say they are not only the best brains but the smart brains!! They brilliantly excel in what they do like you also! So you can't call them mediocres!!!!
Boss, the future is bright for You and us all!!!! If God says you will get this scholarship, Bros, YOU will get it!!!
This is a lesson learnt! "That in the kingdom of the smart's, the Smartest is the KING" and next time, when the SMART's gather to battle, GO the extra MILE to OUTSMART even the smartest!!!
God will help us all!! STFU, Don't justify cheating by calling it smartness. Its pathetic reading all these comments that justify the exam process. |

The test was not a true and fair test of knowledge. All the questions were known by many people before it was even written. Nonsense!!!
If this continues, the aim of PRESSID would be defeated. Brainfriend just ruined their reputation. |
