What's the year model and how many miles?
Autos / Re: What About The Mileage? by Mekjim(m): 8:06am On Jan 14, 2013
@Viperman... Good job, very nice info.

But am just curios on why some dealers advertise cars from United States at Kilometers instead of Miles. Have seen few post on NL that shows that which is technically not true. There is about 0.62 difference in Kilometer and miles, example 50 miles in USA is about 80 kilometers in Nigeria. I think buyers should be aware as well.

Travel / Re: Qatar Work Visa For 600k.is It Worth It? by Mekjim(m): 7:30am On Jan 12, 2013
My question is what is the cost of pursing success in life? Can you really put a price tag on pursuit of success?
For some people visa is a piece of cake but for others you have to work hard and risk everything to lay your hands on it.
But how would you know if you will be successful in a another country if you are not there yet? Our destiny in life is different. My advice is never run your race like someone else. Have you own dream and stick to it.
Just because Taiwo does not survive in one country does not mean Kehinde cannot be a millionaire there.
For new traveller.. DO NOT RAISE YOUR HOPE AND EXPECTATION TOO HIGH.
Mistakes many new traveller did is they want to go oversea make money and come home within a year. They want to spend money like the guy that left 20years ago and come home for first time. Abroad or oversea is hard and tough in the beginning. The moment you land and pass immigration is when the part 2 of your Naija struggle begin. Every one that's is successful oversea have to beginning story. You will thank God for yours when you hear others.
If you do the right thing what is yours will be yours.

A friend of mine left a very good bank job in naija, paid 800k for visa to Yankee, I mean USA, he's been there over a year now and still not balance, house he rent in Naija is a mansion compare to tiny apartment he is living now.
But he will make it, it's just a matter of time.

Am not against traveling because I know Naija situation for the fact with no electricity and water and i will not discourage anyone from trying but my point is do your homework very well. Don't just jump on plane cause you have to leave. Don't raise hope too high, most important do the right thing always never hurt no one for money, what goes around will come around.

ceasare: I guess its because an avg 9ja autotechnician can only fiddle well wth jap made cars and r 2 kazy to try out anything less.....

This is one good reason among many others.
Nigerian are mostly used car buyer don't get me wrong and which other brand have a resale value better than Japanese cars?
Some Other brand are better off brand new (Korean), too many sensor is one reason I stay away from German cars, I hate driving with all kinda light coming up on dash just because sensor connector in my seat is failing..
Not all Nigerian mechanic fix cars with computer which you definitely need on German cars for example, reset inspection light, deactivate sensor to change brakes pads among other. Also what's makes BMW interior fall apart so quick? I don't quite understand.
German car drives greater don't get me wrong, I love how it handle and the feel on a good road but when it comes to Nigeria bad roads that wear your car off quickly I think am better off Japanese. (My opinion)

frankfrank: You will have to pay duty for each car.
Never you settle for the lowest quotation from an agent.
Go for a trust worthy agent.
Make sure you have a reciept/document from your agent CLEARLY stating the content of the container, total cost of the clearing the cotainer, duration to clear the container, agreed initial deposit and balance to be paid at delivery.
Another point is offloading/discharging is not more than 30k witin the vicinity of the port, though discuss this with the agent.
Lastly, make the agent understand that any delay will be borne by him.
This will act as a guide and protect your from some of our dubious agent.

Thank you very much and I sincerely appreciate the guidance.
"Trust and understanding" matter most when it comes to business. Hopefully I can find one here.

Where are the Nairalander Clearing Agents?
Kindly chip in so I can at least have an estimate of what it will cost.

Thank you all.
Autos / Detailed Information On Clearing A Container In Lagos. by Mekjim(m): 6:28am On Jan 03, 2013
Nairalander...

Here I come and I need your help in getting right info to put me on track with my budget. I am a big fan of this site but I seem to be on the other side of the world to contribute much. So hopefully you can assist me in my business idea before it kick off shortly.

I need information on cost of Clearing a container / cars in Nigeria.

I am planning on shipping a 20ft or 40ft Container from Yokohama Japan to Lagos Nigeria. Am not sure which shipping line I will use yet but the containers will have 5 or 6 cars in it.
It will be (2 unit)2000 Volkswagen Golf 4, (2 unit) 2002 Volkswagen Golf 4, (1 unit) 2004 Volkswagen Golf 5 and (1 unit) 2005 Volkswagen Golf 5.

My question is, how do I clear this cars, will everything be cleared as one container or I have to clear each car separately.

What's the cost of clearing a 20ft and 40ft Container?

Whats the cost of Clearing each of this cars separately if I cannot clear all as one container?

If I can clear as container, what is the cost to truck the container to Ibadan if you know? But I will prefer offloading the cars at Port and Drive to Ibadan.

Your quick response will be highly appreciated.

Am planning on shipping this as soon as possible and hope it will arrive in Nigeria in Few months while am on ground.

Thank you.

It will be very nice if you include price in your advertised car, that will reduce number of junk mails and calls you receive.
Serious buyer will inquire when price is within reach. Try save potential buyer an extra time. (my opinion)

That been said, how much are you asking for this pretty baby?
