Its good to wake up to another day. Goodmorning all! Yes, different institutions are now announcing their sales of screening forms, while at liberty to shortlist names of jambites sent to them. But it is disgusting how some institutions are still dissident to the laid down guidlines of money charges that should be meant for the only admitted students and having had 5 0' level subjects relevant to the course. Hey, OAU has already adopt the point system with general 8 o' level subjects representing 30% and jamb 70% to arrive at total point. To all unilag aspirants on this thread, i pray that u will be favoured in whatever decision unilag comes up with. Amen. |

jaymejate: Since the commencement of the CBT, there has been much technical problems that affect candidates which results into complaining or even protest. Now this method of admission JAMB is using is a very welcome method but, what if the problems in CBT continues or can't be addressed, it will now be as "luck" which means it's not how well you prepare that will determine your score but how well the CBT goes. Then admission won't be for the mighty ones but for the lucky ones.

labodinho: GUIDELINES FOR ADMISSIONS INTO TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS IN NIGERIA
Sequel to the recent workshop convened by the honourable minister of education on the modalities for admissions into tertiary institutions in Nigeria, the federal government hereby approves the following guidelines for admissions:
1. presentation of the lists of candidates who qualify for screening into individual based on the stipulated guidelines by JAMB (find hereby enclosed);
2. screening should not demand for another test in any form either written, oral or electronic;
3. candidates are to present their senior school certificate examination (SSCE) results/Advance Level (AL) results for verification and clearing purposes;
4. WAEC, NECO, NABTEB results or equivalent are acceptable as matriculation requirements;
https://unilaglabodinho./2016/07/08/guidelines-for-admissions-into-tertiary-institutions-in-nigeria/#more-2496 labodinho goodmorning to u. Big up to the minister for making education accessible for all irrespective of ur status having masses interests at heart considering economy plight of this nation ensuring no more extortions by these institutions, milking the populace dry in educating them. This pronouncement, thus repudiated the new modality stakeholders agreed on, meaning admission solely lies with jamb. But the big question is, can jamb live up to expectation making sure lopsidedness is no more in their conducts as regards to yearly worrisome comments by candidates against this body? Only time will tell.. |

jaymejate: Understood. Now is the Oral system included, As in neither Oral should be done also... Just checking of credentials and payment of N2500? Even the said oral wont be effective if this new modality of counting of points is eventually used cos meeting up the soon to be released cutoff is the koko. And pegging screening price to that amount is still a proposal and not decision of the minister. So until adamu assent to it, thats when it becomes substantive. |

So why the initial gimmicks of the minister, if schools are still at liberty to extort money from candidates after raising hopes of parents? This then means that JAMB is still still playing that supervisory role while schools give out their respective cut-offs before simultaneously giving out admission. |

2... OAU screening is out, no post utme saith the school. What about the money they will collect from candidates. Cos the money they're collecting is one of the reasons Fed. Govt. want it stopped.
I think the universities should be allowed to conduct the test but at a very CHEAP price. bro, yes at a cheaper price u know. |

labodinho: I think they will conduct the post utme this year cos most schools have even written exam not that they released screening form.They shuld just make a standard price for post utme for every Uni and conduct the screening cos to me,i don't trust JAMB with the nonsense scores they jst dash ppl.
Anything FG wanna do shuld just be next year not this time when schools are almost done with admission process. Tuale to the ogas in the house labodinho,ibadanfinest, base on the premise that others released postutme forms so unilag must follow suit does not hold water, cos federal universities are the most concerned here, hence they cant circumvent it but to serve as precedence to any university who may or had reneged against this pronouncement. So when NUC is ready for them to be sanctioned, nothing will be their justification. Even though the govt is myopic about the advantages of postutme, extortion and lack of standard questions is prevalent in this exam processes which i see as shame! Tasued just concluded postutme constists of 20 silly questions for 7minutes for close to 10,200 candidates who entered for this test having paid nothing less than seven thousand naira. |

alizma: this is what the stupid NLC should be on the street protesting for but they are busy dancing to the tune of oil marketer. have We in the last few weeks sit down to reflect that despite series of oil pipe bombing, fuel has continued to be available in all filling stations. the problem with light is to an extent that of sabotage too. with the removal of fix charge on prepaid meter by the minister of power, light will be more stable if every house in Nigeria has prepaid meter. we would not need to tell PHCN that a transformer has developed fault because where there is no light, they will definitely not generate money from such area. most areas in the cities where prepaid meter is in use, enjoy relatively stable light compared with areas where arbitrary bill system rules. DEMAND FOR PREPAID METER FOR ALL, IS A DEMAND FOR STABLE ELECTRICITY FOR ALL.
Have we take time to ask why is it that network is always available for us to make calls, why do MTN, Glo, etc are struggling day by day to make network available everywhere, even deep into part of sambisa Forest and farms across Nigeria? simply because we use prepaid access to network, what we use is what we are charged for(95% truth). subscribers don't need to worry about whether the mast is in good shape or not, the telecom companies do that. when a mast is faulty, it means there will be lost of money from that area because subscribers won't be able to make calls, they will only have to endure some inconvenience but their credit remain intact while some people will switch over to another network. so spot on! Yes, it concerns every hoi polloi out there struggling every day to make ends meet. |

The people in otta community gathered enmass to vocifer their minds by organising a rally to defend their rights as to the vexed issue of extortions amid epileptic supply of electricity by IBEDC. taking into cognizance the federal government directive of free meters to consumers, the company reneged against it, While the populace are finding it so hard to cope with it, coupled with regular higher monthly bills? Hence the display of placards to pass message across However, only time will tell since states are now incapacitated in this privatization of the sector, all road leads to IBEDC. Source: eye witness. FrancisTony: Guessing 40questions? There is no way guessing can score one more than 10marks. If jamb is a test of knowledge, what stopped your so-called intelligentsia's from coming out tops in p.utme?
Anyway, I have cousins that got into University before post jamb started and trust me, there was no merit when one chose Unilag at first attempt. The second one runsed his admission and finally got English Edu instead of Law. I am sure that was an era that gave people notion that Unilag admission is never based on merit till today when actually things changed when post utme was introduced. well I welcome ideas, hence i dont argue blindly, so i score u point as regards to the lack of merit in those years admission. But believe u me that doesnt mean the govt is re.tarded in its decision cos schools can now roll out their merit cut-off to 230-250, meaning people who are laggards academically can never gain admission to such schools. Having said that, screening can come in different forms to corroborate higher merit scores. so a body like jamb set-up by an act, gaining momentum in different countries due to its innovations yearly can never be jettisoned cos it will amount to waste. |

FrancisTony: What extortions actually? Universities now have more avenue to make millions of Naira as none would be ready to make cutoff marks available. Admissions will now go to the highest bidders.
Admit more students? Universities can never admit more than their quota in professional courses lest they loose accreditation. It's also to detriment of our educational system taking cue to your post as mass unemployable graduates would be churn out when Universities admit more than available resources.
With this your post, I take it that you are of notion that universities should admit jamb mediocrity. Quite ludicrous for someone hiding under facade of big vocabularies. nothing is as risible to the ur assertion of jamb not being standard enough to pume's forty questions which any dummy can guess his/her ways to getting admission!
