Coach Emmanuel Amunike is my top pick for the S.E coaching job.

I hope you are happy now

Yes, and very happy with the defenders chosen to play.

The defenders were not really the problem, the problem was with the midfield.

You can't indulge a play focused on possession without working extensively on your midfield.

Real defending begins in the midfield, even when the midfield is bypassed may be by long balls, the midfielders are are to track back to help the defense.

In the same manner, real attacking with the ball begins in the midfield, if the midfield is bypassed maybe by long balls, the midfielders are primarily responsible for sustaining the attack through proper communication with the forwards.

The midfielders did not help the defenders in the manner they should, and the defenders while trying to maintain possession of the ball, drew a lot of pressure to themselves.

I don't really understand how we watch football. The only thing that is making us not winning this game is the personnel. A nigeria team possessing the ball is phenomenal. I love the way the guys play though some players didn't help with the set up. Besides this is a friendly match. Finidi is sound.

Thank you so much, Finidi is sound, i mean very sound.

The problem is the playing personel, if Finidi was the one who compiled the list of invited players, that's when i would have come heavily on him.

When you guys analyze football you expressly think you are some high and mighty that could just walk into the field and handed victory.

Firstly , the Malians have a good team.

Secondly, the SE have no creative midfielder. Who is that player that could hold the ball and soak up the pressure from the Malians.
Ejuke, Nwakali, Ifeanyi Mathew, are some of those players.

The midfield takes the major chunk of blame. They don't open up to receive passes from the defenders and drive forward with the ball.

The defenders back pass a lot because of how poor our midfielders have been.

Will like to see them too for their lack of pace against Mali's forward line

They have good pace for a CB.

Can I ask you a question. Why are you so obsessed with foreign people ? Like white coaches , foreign born players etc ? These foreign players you are always clamoring for are they better than Nigerian players?

Shouldn't we be pressing the NFF to develop our league? Why is it that you always look for a stop gap solution instead of solving the whole problem?

Don't you think investing and developing our local league will put rest to all these problems with our national teams. Don't you have the ability to think for a second ? You are always here dragging our indigenous talents including coaches and players calling them corrupt as if you will do better if you find yourself in that position. For instance, you are barely 40yrs with a pot belly that look like you are pregnant! Who tha f..uck do you think you are. You are simply a white worshipped obese pu..nk

You stopped making sense when you started body shaming him.

I hope to see the combination of Awaziem and Omeruo in tomorrow's game, not just for the defensive duties they provide, but for the crisp passing and seamless transitions to midfield.

We have very good indigenous coaches.

Finidi's ideas and the implementations of it, are superior to that of Rohr and Peseiro. What Rohr and Peseiro has over Finidi is just CV.

And on what basis did you assess Amuneke? I hope it isn't his u17 stint cause that will be laughable.

You can't throw his achievements at the U17 level to the trash can. It wasn't just an African competition, Amunike holds a world record to his name.

It wasn't just that he won the competition at the world level, his ideas and how he implemented them was what stood out for me.

How u tk knw? Aina and Osayi are better than him

Ebuehi interprets the fullback role better.
His execution of long passing and crossing of the ball is better than those of the two you mentioned.

I see Aina and Osayi as wingers who can also do well as fullbacks.

Contrary to what most of you think, Aina is not a better fullback compared to Zaidu.

While i appreciate the improvements in our play under Finidi.
Finidi's system and interpretations of the game are not as intelligent and mature as that of Amunike.

You might argue that Peseiro compiled the list of invited players, and that this is just one game under Finidi, but i don't need a lot of games to ascertain a coach's ingenuity.

Under Finidi, Tyronne Ebuehi might fare better than all our fullbacks because he is the most tidy in passes of the ball.

Finidi's emphasis on ball retention through passes, and quick ball recovery when not in possession of the ball, should see Alhassan Yusuf and Ralphael Onyedika starting ahead of Wilfred Ndidi and Frank Onyeka Because the first mentioned duo are better at press resistance, passing, and quick ball recoveries.

Oga meliforme, just say you like Ejuke to the extent when he was not getting games you rated one average Belgian youth international over our wingers just to support him.

I saw Ejuke and I said wow what a very skillful player but really surprised with the talent he was struggling, well it happens in football and good is coming back.

Pls show me facts why he is next to Osimhen talking about eagles forwards.

It is very easy to see.

I have been very busy.

I will surely get back to you with awesome proofs showing that Chidera Ejuke should be next to Osimhen regarding our forwards in what they can do.

Better is subjective..
I don't think historical sentiment is the issue here.
We mostly don't remember his exploits in Keshi's team
We're talking about the here and now
The key is, he delivers for the SE whenever called upon

The others should also show that they've got what it takes to retire him completely

I wanted to reply the post you just quoted, but saw that it was Komekn's, and decided to ignore.

Omeruo in my reckoning is the best we have got now, how he doesn't start matches, eludes me. Calvin Bassey is also very good and deservedly starts matches. That is the conumdrum i am trying to deconstruct.

He has what it takes to become the head coach of the Nigerian U-17 team by merit.

He can also become Assistant Coach in the SE set up. The Head Coach will be decided by the cabal in government as it is highly politicized.

Has he even applied?

He has.

Thats a lie.. Big lie.

...

So what the hell you talking about.
Peseiro's pattern of play was more of a direct play approach, which is more like getting the business done. Teams that implement direct play are not drilled to capitalise on ball possession as a means of opening up the opposition rather they rely on counter attacks, lay offs and long passing to get into dangerous positions for goal scoring. That is the reason why we didn't score much on ball possession.

Our midfield was lean because JPes wasn't building on the midfield as the primary source of control and creativity that's why we had more combative midfielders than creative midfielders and midfielders who can control a game, the shortage of personnel in midfield butresses this further.

If you look at how we play, the team's engine is the defense, they try to create goalscoring chances, and also prevent the team from conceding goals.

Thats a lie.. Big lie. The same team that got completely dominated in open play by lower oppositions like GB, SA, ANG?

A team with an inexistent midfield, which couldn't even connect to the attack at all. The forwards only had to rely on their individual brilliance or long balls from the defenders. No single dynamics in play.

No single assist from a lazy Iwobi, Onyeka overworked. Even Osimhen overworked.

A team that kept defending against a defensively porous CIV when there is still lots of time for CIV to come back. Osimhen completely starved and cut off!

The only good job from Peseiro was in the defense which didn't even last to the final when we needed it most. So what the hell you talking about.
All your valid complaints from the opponent's domination of possession to a non existent midfield were all down to Peseiro's game plan.

I said that we were tactically more drilled under Peseiro.

Do you even know what it means to be tactically drilled?

Tactics simply means game plan. Can you look at the Super Eagles under Peseiro and say they don't have a game plan, will you say that the players weren't drilled to adhere strictly to tactics. That's what i meant when i said that we were tactically more drilled under Peseiro than with Eguavoen.

I watched Chavez vs Arouca which ended 5-1 in favour of Arouca and those goals were scored within the space of 58 minutes,Nwakali got subbed out in 60 minutes and I came to realize that eagles would need more than Nwakali to bring stability to our midfield…I trust local coaches, time to see Daga,Akinsanmiro,Eletu,Bashiru and Nwakali in the folds. These guys just need wildcards invitations and hope to see them doing what Nwabali did to our goalkeeping dept.

If midfield issue is not solve we are not going to WC.

Just tell us you don't rate Nwakali.

You could have told us how his blunders laid to the goals rather than that he was on the pitch when the goals happened.

Eguavoen is tactically inept. He shouldn't have accepted that job when we have crucial WCQs to execute. Bring someone like mourinho and you are talking
Eguavoen does know one or two about football tactics, but there are many areas he needs to work on. Growth is something that can happen to anybody who truly wants to grow.

When you watch our match against Angola and SA you will see we were found out and in d final we were completely knocked off.

So generally jpagero is a stuck of one way traffic. Av forgotten the moniker now on this forum, he said,; d dynamism of a coach is to know when to change tactical approach of his team. I don't hate jpagero or any foreign coach (infact foreigners tends to d better with SE) but jpajero should not be seen as our messiah. He is too rigid in his tactical set up.
Peseiro has glaring weaknesses, i don't even prefer him, but asking me to choose between Peseiro and Eguavoen, i will choose Peseiro.

I have said it numerous times here, that we played our best football under Equaveon.

I said we could have easily walked over 2021 AFCON if Iwobi was not red carded against Tunisia though we were a goal down.

Equaveon was the most unlucky Nigerian coach in recent history.

He drew Ghana home and away without a single midfilder completing 180 minutes! In fact he had no single DM/AM in the 2nd half at Abuja. (All injured)!
(No Iwobi, Ndidi, Onyeka first half in Abuja, Bonke-first half Accra).

Equa and Finidi should be given time no matter what happens! Time and support!

Welcome back Nwakali!

God bless Nigeria!
We played better football under Peseiro than we did under Eguavoen. We appeared more tactically drilled, more disciplined, our transitions from defense to attack were more seamless, our movement into spaces, positioning, were better under Peseiro. Peseiro looks more mature and exposed.
