That woman is just using folks to catch cruise. It says $100 for 17.244 gallons (gallons not liters).
The conversion ratio is 1 gallon = 3.78541 liter, so 17 gallons = 64.352 liters for $100. That is, 1 liter is $1.55 = N2165.35 |

malali: You’re mixing up having a modern country with actually belonging to a land. People don’t need a European-style nation with flags and borders to be real or legitimate. Before Europeans arrived, Native people already had their own lands, leaders, rules, trade, alliances, and wars. That’s a society. Calling them “just tribes” uses European standards to dismiss cultures that already worked on their own terms.
And if being somewhere a long time is what makes someone truly belong, then Native people, who lived here for thousands of years, have a stronger claim than anyone whose family arrived a few hundred years ago. The word “American” comes from the land, not from Europe. Europeans didn’t create belonging here; they took over a place that already had people. You can’t change the definition after you arrive and use it to exclude those who were already there. If time on the land is the only metric, then every border in the world is 'illegitimate' because someone was always there before. But history isn't just a waiting game; it’s about who establishes the lasting institutions, the cities, and the laws that define a civilization. We call it 'America' because of the civilization that was established 400 years ago. To say those who have been here for 20 generations are 'immigrants' because of what happened 10,000 years ago makes the word 'immigrant' meaningless. At some point, a people becomes indigenous to the culture they actually created. And I believe that you are wrong about the origins of the word "American." The consensus among historians is that "America" is a Latinized version of the Italian explorer Amerigo Vespucci's first name. In 1507, German cartographer Martin Waldseemüller created a map and chose to name the new landmass in honor of Vespucci, who was the first to realize it was a separate continent and not the eastern coast of Asia.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amerigo_Vespucci |

Semantics.....George Orwell laws. First amongst equals.
If you are not a native red Indian in America. You are an immigrant. Sir, I disagree. I have friends who have been here for over 20 generations. They are no longer immigrants. They are deep in the soil. Their ancestors built the whole city they reside in (in the south) and they have history for centuries. They are the real Americans. No one was called an American before the Europeans got here. They were just tribal folks who hadn't established any sort of country here. Can you deport these so-called "immigrants"? Absolutely not, for they belong here. It is not semantics at all. |

malali: Trumps father is an immigrant in America Though I understand your point, it is has a slight error, since his father was not an immigrant. His father was born in New York to immigrant German parents. His mother, who was born in Scotland, was an immigrant. Anyone born in America is not an immigrant. |

Nnamdipapa: You live in a single room? I respectfully call BS. I paid more than $350 monthly electricity bill for more than 5 years, with the amount going to about $500 in the winter months. This excludes the gas bill, and most live to pay bills in Western countries. It's a pre-authorized debit that gets yanked from your account every month. You still get to pay even when you are dead. No, I live in Playa Del Rey in a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom, and I have a roommate. Fall and Winter bills, of course, are usually the highest. I have uploaded, so you can see for yourself.

Nnamdipapa: I am on band A, about 23 hours of lights a day, blasting 5 AC non-stop in Lagos Nigeria and the monthly bill is about $55. I have zero credit card, line of credit or loans. You couldn't pay me enough to live in those western countries again. I live in Southern California and my LADWP power bill is every two months. My average bill from 2019 till now is about $81.13 ( which is $40.57 monthly). You can't compare Nigeria to America because the US is just too big. California is about half the size of Nigeria (46% to be precise), so the power bill will vary from one area to the other. This lady's bill is just an outlier and it baffles me how she is paying $1800 per month. |

RevenuesBoost: Note: This write-up focuses primarily on men. Check out my thread for the perspective on women.
https://www.nairaland.com/8516244/wwww-marriage-not-unteachable-combative Ma'am, in that same thread, you also wrote: Many men continue to act irresponsibly, while more and more women are stepping up and taking responsibility for their lives.
For generations, society has placed the blame for failed marriages and poorly raised children squarely on women’s shoulders. In response, many women have learned to take full responsibility for their choices, knowing they’ll be held accountable either way.
This thread focuses specifically on the mistakes women make that often lead to broken marriages. I’ve already shared a separate thread addressing men’s faults — and interestingly, women didn’t react with hostility. That’s because they’ve long been conditioned to fight for their homes, being told they are the “home builders.”
Many men, on the other hand, have been raised to deflect blame — to see the woman as the problem, regardless of the situation. That mindset is one of the biggest reasons marriages continue to fall apart. So when you were giving your perspective on women, you still found a way to blame men. No matter what happens, every blame ultimately lands on a man. |

So our current President, Mr. Emilokan, won because he organized better? And you are certain that our next president will not be from the North? So other tribes have equal chances of also winning? maisauki: In the first transaction, he made 10 bucks, very correct BUT When he wanted to buy it again, he had to source for 10 bucks to add to the 70 in his hands to make 80 for the new buying price Why assume that he didn’t also source the initial $60? Why is everyone assuming he only had $60 to begin with. The problem simply says that he bought a goat for $60. It didn’t say that a man with a capital of only $60 bought a goat for $60. |

Ayokequeen: Many of you shouting "he made$20 profit" are not fit for business at all because the likes of you usually take the gross as your overall profit while forgetting to remove some contingencies and be left with the net.
He started the business with $60 and made $10 profit in the first transaction making $70 altogether but he bought the same item back at $80 (a loss of $10) and then sold it back at $90 (a profit of $10 cancelling the first loss)
The guy made no profit. The problem did not say he started the business with $60. It simply said he bought a goat for $60. No one knows how much he initially had. Why would you assume he spent all his initial capital on buying the goat? I have a business and I have never, ever spent all my capital on buying anything. |
Education › Re: Mathematician Over To You? by member13(m): 1:53pm On Aug 17, 2025 |
To those of you who said he borrowed $10 to buy the goat again, why didn’t you assume he borrowed $60 to buy the goat in the first place?
The question does not say anything about borrowing. If we could assume that he had the $60 capital initially, then he probably had more than that. What if he had $1000 initially, then he would be making $20 in profit. |

America isn't heaven! I disagree. Nigerians are too enamored of the western way of life for such a thing to happen. When our leaders get a headache, they flee to western nations for medical assistance. This site is hosted in a foreign nation; all the gadgets we use are made in foreign nations; the language we are using right now is foreign; our mode of dressing is largely foreign; our democracy is modeled after that of the US; all our medicines are made in foreign nations; our cars are foreign; heck, even our religions are mostly foreign. If they banned all of Africa, we would still find a way to access their technologies. Do not underestimate how much the Black African people depend on and value the goods from abroad. |

A popular adage says that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. These same arguments have been made more than a million times on this site. They were made by my great grand parents when they were alive, and also made by my grandparents and my parents when I was growing up, but the state of our affairs is still dire. Do we really think that complaining over and over will necessarily change anything? The culture would have to fundamentally change and each of us will also have change our ways but I doubt it will happen in my lifetime. |

Iye o!!!! "The government have" is correct in British English grammar, while "the government has" is correct in American English grammar. Since Nigerians tend to use British English, I would say the original poster was right. I had a professor in college that didn't mind either, as long as you didn't mix them.
