I will like others to share their experience. Who then collected the dividend declared? The registrar or the person that sold to you? |

And they are all happening one by one. He mentioned this pullback of this week. Infact market was ripe for a pullback last week thursday/friday. The question is for how long. We go soon find out. |

pluto09: I attempted same with UCAP. Bought at N3.35 with the hope of selling before mark down in anticipation of a 10% gain. I am out with a nice head cut. The market is not smiling and things might get worse after the earning season I.e post mark down. Boss, you know that if not for the present condition of markets, you woudn't have seen UCAP to buy at N4.00. Once a good result is released (Zenith no follow here ooo), it usually rallies immediately, does a small pullback and then do another small rally when dividend hunters surfaces towards markdown date. Corona don change am for us this year. |

What if it doesnt? What does 90% mean ma? That remaining 10% is the likelihood that he won't break his waist and the decision is all his to make. I have ONLY explained what I myself will do. I have never seen a trader that buys a stock with the intention of selling after markdown! |

dinyelutochukwu: Thanks Mendes for your succinct analysis. I’m actually a trader. And my sole aim was jump in for the dividend and jump out immediately after the qualification date. It seems the dividends for this year will be a bone in our throats. Let’s continue to watch keenly. Am not a soothsayer but am 90% sure that this jump you just narrated will break your waist! |

dinyelutochukwu: I intend to buy UCAP today for the sole purpose of partaking in their dividend pay out. Is this a wise move in the current situation of the market? CC: OGG PETERICHY AGBA CP ORACLE MENDES MCY Are you a trader or an investor? How long do you intend to hold this stock? Sincerly speaking, nobody here is sure of what will happen after markdown and also performance of UCAP this year. I don't know much about UCAP but I read a report saying that drop in T-Bills and its likes will affect their revenue going forward. But if you are trader, buying into UCAP for the sole purpose of getting dividends and then japaa after that might be a wrong move. It might be possible for UCAP to gain 10% before markdown and traders usually benefit from such (if 10% shows up and they sell before markdown) but with the present condition of our market, nothing is certain. |

emmanuelewumi: Tsunamis will always come to the market, some are predictable while some can't be predicted. The most important thing Is to have a risk management strategy and being positioned to benefit from the tsunami no matter the direction of the market. I don't see this as per risk management though. Investors like you are very happy with what is happening and you get to cherry pick. Traders are not happy!. Am a trader and I have made it a rule to run at the slightest provocation, once I see the sign, I japaaa. We all need to understand what we are here for, get a strategy and stick to it. I did something today and Oracle has been laughing at me all day and he did opposite of what I did. We are both presently fine with the decisions we took, him being an investor and I a trader. |

chillykelly86: Oga, you need to be more realistic than this oo.
First of all, the major issue with this outbreak bothers on its contagion. Currently, its estimated that every 1 person who is infected infects two to three people. This is made more complicated with emerging facts that people become contagious before showing symptoms. These majorly(highlighting the difficulty to contain the virus) are the reasons governments around the world are taking drastic measures.
The measures taken by several governments around the world to guard against the outbreak or further spread of COVID-19 within their borders (which are not excessive in my opinion, compared with battling a full blown outbreak like China is and recently some other countries (South Korea, Italy, Iran) are doing) are the real drivers of negative impact on the global economy.
And should the outbreak get into pandemic proportions, it will get worse. The best news, in that instance in particular, naturally speaking, would be either or both of invention/discovery of a cure or vaccine.
Over 75% of my stock market fund is invested in the market but that will not mean I won't say the truth when I see it. Exactly. We wouldn't know how many Nigerians that Italian must have infested until 14 days from now. They can only quarrantine all the people they think he associated with and there may be many more left. |
