Please my people, help a starving brother. I have been pleading for help since 2 days now. I'm a student who returned to school last week because of the prospects of exams starting on Monday and also because I was opportuned to enter a free ride. my family isn't bouyant enough and my dad has severe high BP that's why I had to find my way so as not to make him to start thinking about where to get money to give me. I haven't eaten a decent food since I got back and am starving. I am soliciting for help from well meaning people who will be touched enough to hear my plight and have mercy. I am not asking for much, no matter how little, it will go a long way. God bless you all Ecobank savings-5681008674 1 Like 1 Share |

Religion / Sexual Abuse Rocks Vatican City Again. by Merbon: 9:33am On Feb 17, 2019 |
ROME —The Vatican on Saturday said it had defrocked for :-Xmer cardinal Theodore McCarrick, leveling a historic penalty against a onetime church power broker and former archbishop of Washington after the church found him guilty of sexual abuse. It is the most significant abuse-related punishment given to a former cardinal in the modern history of the Roman Catholic Church. In a short statement, the Vatican said a canonical process had found McCarrick guilty of two charges: soliciting sex during confession and committing “sins” with minors and adults “with the aggravating factor of the abuse of power.” The defrocking, which strips McCarrick of the rights of the priesthood, marks the conclusion of a closed-door Vatican proceeding and comes just days before Pope Francis plans to gather bishops from around the world for an unprecedented summit on abuse. It also finalizes the downfall of a figure who entered the priesthood six decades ago, climbed the ranks of the faith and earned influence and honorifics — before becoming a symbol of the church’s struggle to root out abuse in its highest ranks. “He was cardinal up until a few months ago. Today, he is Mr. McCarrick,” said the Rev. Davide Cito, a canon lawyer at Rome’s Pontifical University of the Holy Cross. “This is a humiliation in that world such as one cannot imagine.” Full details: https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=3324748989694237625#editor/target=post;postID=2529100459372853154

Sports / World's Largest Football Academy Now In China. by Merbon: 10:52pm On Feb 16, 2019 |
The Chinese Super League club Guangzhou Evergrande has since 2018 converted a rural area of 300acres to the world largest football academy now breeding about 2500 students in a 50 pitches cost about £130 million for a future target of raising a future generation of champions. But Guangzhou Evergrande are also spending significant amounts on developing youth - and are possibly China's best hope of ever being a success on the world stage. The free-spending Chinese Super League club boasts one of the most staggering football facilities in the world, they are prepared to splash the cash on some of world football's most lucrative contracts. The end goal is to help China win the World Cup. Pretty ambitious, considering their current world ranking of 65th (up nearly 30 spots in two years), but still behind nations like the Cape Verde Islands, Bolivia and Albania. Staff, students and guests receive a daily remainder of what the academy is all about, as they pass a 40-foot tall replica of the World Cup trophy outside the front gates. Such was the nation's ambition to improve their chances, the Guangzhou academy was turned from rural land into the world's biggest football school in just 10 months. However, Guangzhou know it is not just facilities that they need to make world-beating footballers - they need the right coaching, too.
