Travel / Re: Japa - Western Countries Scamming Nigerians? by michi2011: 12:05pm On Dec 01, 2023
GreatChizzy:

If only you know the privileges and advantages in becoming a dual citizen of first world countries like the USA, UK, Canada, and Australia, then you would understand why most of them travelled. Giving your children a first world standard education and the passport of any of these countries are the best things a parent can ever give in this ever changing world.

Please just a quick question, if I japa with my family, will we be given automatic citizenship after 5 years?
Politics / Re: Wike Approves Property Tax In Abuja by michi2011: 6:29pm On Nov 13, 2023
masseratti:
Dead on arrival... It's a good tax tho.. Especially for those empty houses in Abuja with no occupants, maybe this will drag down the price of houses in Abuja if people fill those empty houses, because I see no reason why someone should be paying taxes in those big houses like 20 a year with no one staying in it.

Remove your eye from other people's houses.
Buy land and build your own.
Family / Re: My Mom Refused To Do Omugwo And She’s Causing Havoc by michi2011: 1:00pm On Nov 10, 2023
You recently had a baby, is it even up to a year.
Why do these people not even understand that a new mother is a hormonal and emotional person.
Ignore all of them please I beg you.
Focus on your child and family - build yourself.
When they are ready they will come back but you would have changed by then and no longer want to be close to them.
Travel / Re: My Experience In UK Since I Japa:WARNING by michi2011: 2:31pm On Nov 03, 2023
jaymichael:
When someone sold lands, cars, houses and other properties to japa, even after landing an okay job there, how many years you wan take gather those things back while still maintaining your bills in that abroad. This shows e no easy anywhere especially for those from thirld world country like ours.
I believe if those foreigners hear the amount we spend to japa, they will think we are mad because majority of them no get that kind money in cash.
I really pray you reap the rewards of your labour and sacrifice. Open doors for you very fast.

We already think that, it will take at least 15 years to get all those things back.
It make no sense to me whatsoever.
I just cannot understand it.

Please post those houses so some of us can buy.
Have you guys ever asked yourselves why the people born here are moving back to Nigeria and the ones born in Nigeria are desperate to travel?
Nothing de abroad but they won’t listen. They are blinded by the exchange rate, as if all the money u make will be changed to naira to be spent in Nigeria.
Poor mentality!

I wish I could like this comment 100 times, leave them be for experience is the best teacher.

Some one up there called her stupid for this write up and as usual the angry Nigerians come out in numbers to attack poster for this topic.

Very well written topic, everything written up there is true. In case you are wondering, yes I am currently living in Nigeria and couldn't be any happier than I was when living in the UK.
Everything is different and better for ME here in Nigeria, lets start from the very beginning.

Healthcare - I was left for dead in a London hospital, thank God I survived. I survived not because of better healthcare but because of a kind doctor who decided to investigate the medical problem further when everyone else gave up.

Kids - I was lucky to be able to have children following the medical negligence thanks to God and to a Nigerian DR.

Security - Cars were stolen in my neighbourhood on a daily basics and it is still happening, by the time you wake up, your car is already in eastern Europe - long gone. Thank God for insurance which will however take 5months to pay out and only a percentage of the car amount.
My friend's house was broken into last month, his dogs scared the thieves away however goods worth almost £1K was taken in less than 2 minutes.
NO - I was not living in barking or Peckham, I was living in NW London and house on my street are worth £900K and above at that time.

Electricity - Gas, Electricity, Car and Water monthly cost £650.

Money - what everyone has been waiting to hear. I used to earn a very good wage but I worked 60hrs per week. My take home after tax was plus overtime was £4100 however my bills and mortgage was £2450 monthly. I had no time for my kid, my poor child didn't get to see me at all.
Childcare cost was £850 per month and I was very lucky.

Mental Wellbeing - What life will I have after working 60hrs from Mon-Friday and Saturday morning. I couldn't do anything for I was physically and mentally exhausted. Depression began to kick in as all I did was work, Relationship - what is that and where is the time for that?
Home training - How do I train my child when I am working, at least I could afford a nanny.
I began to dream of a better life for myself, a life where I could live and enjoy it not just exist.
Africa suddenly became more attractive as it is the only place where I wouldn't have to work like a crazy person, they said US is worst.
I worked as a senior nurse just for the record on a £70000 annual salary

My people I started to plan ooooo, I failed on my first try at relocating because life was so hard and stressful in Lagos. Second time round, I saved money for 5 years, yes 5 good years and invested well.
Now I can happily say I am living my best life in Nigeria, we go back to the UK for vacation during the holidays.
God willing if business remains good, I will use money made in naira to buy my house in the UK.

Moral of this story, as there are people dreaming to japa abroad, there are so many also dreaming to japa to Nigeria / Africa.

Okay so I have been out a few times in London but have to say, not impressed at all by what is out there. Anyone else here in the same situation as myself? There are many single people in London but surely girl needs a bit of spark to get things moving on.........., or do I just settle. I have loved deeply, have felted real passion, have been fortunate to love and date my best friend and have lost, and so I thank God daily for that.

So singleton in the UK, where does a young girl go to meet a decent guy, or are you on this site. If you are, please stop by a say a word, you never know what might come out of it.

And for anyone who is having a dry day, a quick joke to make you smile…………………… ……… ermmm gone blank now.
