Ever been in a situation where you are called to give a seminar and in the process of looking for the most correct English word to use you go blank! It becomes so difficult for you that you virtually forget every single thing in your head? Yes? Of course I feel you. I've been a victim too and it's what I call the 'Entrepreneurial Brain Freeze' What is Brain Freeze? Brain freeze which is also called ice cream headache is practically a rite of summer. Brain freeze is your body's way of putting on the brakes, telling you to slow down and take it easy. So you see the moment you become too tensed or quirky during a presentation or business meeting or you're trying to raise money for your new business you're bound to stumble across the entrepreneurial brain freeze. What causes Entrepreneurial Brain Freeze? It could get worse to the extent that you feel a stabbing pain in your forehead. Entrepreneurial brain freeze could result from Tension: You're not confident with yourself, you start fidgeting and the next thing you're confused and don't know where you stopped or where to continue from. Stress: You didn't have enough rest the previous night or might have probably overworked yourself prior to that event. Anxiety: A task looks so difficult for you to accomplish then you devote yourself 24 hours - 7 days a week trying to figure out the best solution instead of creating a time for it. Family or relationship issues: You've just had a fight with your siblings or even one of your parents earlier that week and you just couldn't get that out of your mind. Your girlfriend, boyfriend, fiance or fiancee is giving you heat and its clouding your mind. Of course your going to go blank by the time your trying to give a talk and at the same time remembering the shitty stuffs going on in your relationship. This might interest you: 5 Roles and Qualities of an entrepreneur How you can prevent and overcome Entrepreneurial Brain Freeze Don’t panic Keep your composure. If you appear flustered, your audience will feel uncomfortable but if you remain confident, they will be confident of you. Pause to collect your thoughts If you can, say something light-hear-ted. It will help both you and your audience relax. For example, you might say “Did my brain just pop out of my skull?" Prevent cold food from touching the root of your mouth Avoid using straws when taking cold beverages. Consume cold foods and drinks slowly. Get enough rest and sleep Be sure to sleep well the night before a serious meeting. Don't stay up all night reading or memorizing what ever it is you would do the next day. Go to bed by 10:00 pm its safer that way then wake up by 5:00 am Forget family and relationship issues This might be a very difficult one but its worth the try. Make yourself feel happy before that presentation, do or watch a program that would make you laugh and ease of the worries that could arise from family problems. If possible go and make peace with the family member before you commence. I advise you see more at: http://www.mozentre.com/2015/12/how-to-overcome-entrepreneurial-brain-freeze.html |
Learning a new language or perhaps a second language is really exciting and also of great benefit to all ages. Learning a new language offers practical, intellectual and many inspirational benefits. Being bilingual certainly has nothing to do with your age or career or family background for its advantages, especially in today's global society are enormous. Before I continue on how you could effectively and quickly learn a new language and not forget it, let me give you a brief definition of what a new language is. According to Wikipedia : 'A foreign language is a language indigenous to another country. It is also a language not spoken in the native country of the person referred to'. Why you need to learn a New Language and its Benefits You think its not needed to have a second language? After I probably give you reasons on why you should learn a new language, you might want to start having a rethink. Learning a new language enables you meet new people and develop long term relationship with them. When you learn a new language it allows you as well as exposes you to a new culture. Learning a new language forces you to become open minded. The moment you become aware of the fact that we are all cultural beings, products of our own environments, and that you recognize the cultural base for your own attitudes and behavior, you are ready to consider others in a more reasonable and fair manner. Learning a new language boosts your chances of being employed anywhere. Here's what i mean; Between two prospective job seekers with the exact same skill set and experience, the person who is bilingual is arguably much more likely to get the job than you that only knows one language. Learning a new language increases your brain power. A study conducted by Researchers from University College London has shown that learning other languages altered grey matter. Now grey matter is the area of the brain which processes information – in the same way exercise builds muscles. In addition to this a psychologist at York University in Toronto, Ellen Bialystok, has found that students who study foreign languages tend to score better on standardized tests than their monolingual peers, particularly in the categories of math, reading, and vocabulary. I could go on and list up to 20 reasons on why you need to learn a new language but that's not even the main reason I decided to write this blog post. Well I'm happy with the idea that most Nigerian schools are adopting mostly our primary and secondary schools where every student is advised to pick a foreign language to briefly study at least getting the basics. Moving on to the most asked question when it comes to learning a new language which is "How fast can I learn a new language?" Personally i feel the question and answer “How long or fast can i learn a language?” Answer: “X months/years/months” is dumb, as it leaves far too much undefined and only caters to lazy one-size-fits-all mentalities, which is something that's not cool at all. I'm sorry if that hit you hard but for your sake since it's my duty to make things easier for you I was able to come up with a time frame. After much deliberation and research I was able to come up with 3 months as the time frame you could use to learn a new language quickly and efficiently. I say this because that’s typically the tourist visa limit for visiting a country, or the time most tourists like to spend in a country. This statistics is not language dependent rather its lifestyle dependent. Moving on to the main reason for this blog post, How you can Learn a New Language quickly and not forget it. I've defined what a foreign language is, I've listed a good number of reasons why you need to have a second language or perhaps learn a new language and I'm sure I was able to answer your question as to how long it could take you to learn a new language. Let’s compare two experiences... Here’s the first one: Your in a Latin class and your (Latin) teacher writes the following on the board: "quod est tuum nomen?" Meaning "what is your name?" He tells you that this is going to be on your vocabulary quiz next week, along with twenty other words you don’t care much about. Experience two: You and your most adventurous friend are at a restaurant downtown, somewhere in Paris. And after buying a take-away meal the waiter says "merci" and you're confused but your friend quickly tells you that merci means thank you, instantly you reply her saying "merci" As a result of this experience, you are going to remember the word “Merci” forever, and if you still remember the Latin translation for "what is your name?" you’re likely going to forget it within a few minutes. If you're going to learn a language and retain it, you’ll need to build a Merci- like connection into your words. However, if you know what you’re doing, you can do this methodically and rapidly, and you don’t even need to travel to Paris. Below are 3 hacks you could use to learn a new language quickly and efficiently. Hack 1: Meet with a Native Speaker Believe me you this is the best way to learn a new language and all you need do is speak it the way you hear it, most times people spend all of their time studying grammar and memorizing lists of words instead of actually going out there and putting what they've learned into practice. Speaking with a real, live person would surely help you to feel much more motivated about learning the language than probably staring at a book, smartphone or computer screen. I advise you try looking for a friend or colleague who speaks the language you wish to learn and who'd be willing to sit down with you and help you practice daily. Hack 2 : Study your desired Language every day You often claim to have studied a language a whole year and still not be fluent. Truth is you think you studied for a whole year meanwhile you only studied for a month or two. How do you explain it when you only studied the language for only a couple of hours a week over that entire time period? Read my writings very well now and lets get one thing straight, if you want to learn a new language quickly, by this I mean in the space of a few months, you're going to have to commit to studying the language for a couple of hours every day. Hack 3: Have a - See more at: http://www.mozentre.com/2015/12/how-to-learn-a-foreign-language-fast.html |
From making herself so iconic in the famous and well viewed reality TV show #KeepingUpWithKardashians Kim Kardashian took a very smart move coming up with #Kimoji. What is the definition of Kimoji? Kimoji is beautiful and famous celebrity Kim Kardashian's emoji app. Cleverly named "Kimoji", the app features more than 250 emoji and sticker designs that reference the reality star's most famous assets and actions, from her butt to her face contouring to her ugly cry face. The app is available on iStore for $1.99 and you're only supposed to download this app if you're 18+ because I can't deny the fact that the app contains explicit graphic contents. I didn't plan to talk on what the app does or how it crashed Apple's server due to the legions of fans Kim has. But let me just give you a little story of the Kimoji app breaking the Apple app store. Reality TV star Kim Kardashian’s ‘Kimoji’ app got downloaded so many times that it affected the Apple’s App Store. The 35-year-old star apologized to the multinational technology company for the technical issues that occurred due to her app, reported Aceshowbiz . kim-apologizes-to-apple-inc Funny thing is that she never knew that such could happen in as much as the app got millions of downloads. At one point, apparently, 9,000 people were downloading the app per second at the same time. Ridiculous!!! But this is what happens when you are that famous and you give you fans something to play with. OK... Enough with the Kim Kardashian Kimoji app breaking Apple app store. I'm sure Apple Inc is smart enough so they are currently fixing the issues. My main focus for this blog post is letting you know that Kim Kay is a bad ass entrepreneur. Kim Kardashian is simply following the well known quote or advice you hear every single day “Follow your passions!” “Do what you love!” Has it ever crosses your mind if your passions are your hobbies? Things that you could never get paid for? For some, the advice to “do what you love” seems possible only if you have a passion for things like finance or accounting or coding. Well, if you won't listen to me then listen to Kim Kay as she tries to make us know that it’s possible to follow your passions into a career, no matter what those passions may be. Talk-less of now that we have social media, you now have a platform to do what you love—and to make a career out of it. Kim Kardashian has just joined the list of entrepreneurs who built their entire businesses and careers around social media, many earning $100,000 or more. Kim Kay took advantage of what we entrepreneurs call 'Passive Income Opportunity' Remember the saying that explains bad things happen for a reason? The Kim Kardashian life explains it perfectly well. Kim Kardashian first gained media attention through her friendship with Paris Hilton, but she received wider notice after a 2003 sex tape with her former boyfriend Ray J was leaked in 2007 and after that the rest is history. You would agree with me that she recently dethroned Beyonce as the most searched female celebrity of all times. She knew she wouldn't have to depend on proceeds from the reality TV show or from her modelling career or from being an actress so she made a move every entrepreneur makes, looked for another stream of income and has started earning from social media through her amazing app 'Kimoji'. This might intrest you: Who is an Entrepreneur and what is Entrepreneurship There are 6 basic ways of creating an income via social media which are Sponsorship Advertisement Selling Products Affiliate Marketing Promoting Services and Boosting your visibility. Kim Kay does sponsorship, she runs ads, promotes services, boost her visibility and now she's selling her own product. Kim was able to come up with an idea that would generate income for her. Despite the difficult economy down here in Africa especially in Nigeria, there are many ways for a teenager to make money online. All you actually do need is a good business idea and some free time which I’m very sure you have. Every business begins with an idea. Coming up with an idea is one of the coolest feelings in the world. Funny enough it makes you daydream during the day and keeps you awake at night but that idea wasn’t and is always never easy to come by. I might be referring to you as a kid, child or teenager but I need you to beat your chest and call yourself a young entrepreneur. If you’re 18 years of age or lesser then these tips I’m about to reveal to you are ways I suggest would make you quick cash as a teenager. I’ve been able to compile a list of online and offline jobs you could start doing straight out of your bedroom, if you’re dedicated and work hard it could reasonably earn you $25 to $30 dollars every summer break. If you haven’t noticed, there is a new trend raising high recently with children and teenagers overseas (Europe and America) making their pocket-money by earning it in their own way. This post would heighten your hopes as an African; it would boost your morale to also start earning your own pocket money as your mates’ overseas do. They don’t have two heads neither do they have three hands they were just created same way as you were created so make up your mind today to start relieving your parents off some bills. Read my money-making ideas for inspiration, I might just be more focused on how you could make quick, fast money as a teenager online rather than offline. Not that you can’t make quick fast money offline but most of my ideas would be focusing on online jobs. But don’t worry I’ve also got some great ideas for those of you that don’t have 24/7 access to the internet. I know you’re not yet an adult, but every teenager just as you are always has the craving to gain more in their young age. I had this feeling too. Just as time is changing with new technologies surrounding us, same way kids and teens are also maturing early. OFFLINE JOBS Do peoples house hold chores Nowadays everyone is just so occupied that they don’t have enough time to work on their daily chores. You could do peoples chores and get paid. Many at times, these people are the ones searching to hire kids and teens who are interested to earn some pocket-money. So here is the thing, if you know someone who needs such help, you can go ahead in completing their chores on part-time basis, and earn some bucks. It’s one of the easiest ways to make money as a teenager. Do personal services Under personal services I have; Dry Cleaning This is one business idea that I’m sure would get you money. Most of the adults in your neighborhood have paid 9am to 5pm jobs. They all want to look good but truth is they are either too busy or too lazy to dry clean their clothes. Why not offer to dry clean their clothes and get paid. You might need to have some tools such as a washing machine, iron and ironing table etc. Errand, Messenger or Delivery Service This type of job works best in large cities like Lagos, where there are too many people and then public transport is available. The plan is to always focus on people with busy and tight schedules. You would be able to run errands for these kinds of people. Check out local businesses and offer to delivery by bicycle in town. With extra tips from nice adults you should be racking up more than enough money before school resumes. the-ugly-truth-behind-mark-zuckerberg-donation-to-charity OK first things first, for those of you that haven’t actually heard about the Mark Zuckerberg 99 percent charity donation. Earlier last week Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that he and his wife PriscillaChan would donate 99 percent of their Facebook shares – currently valued at a staggering $45 billion, some £30 billion – to “advancing human potential” and “promoting equality”. To make everything look so wonderful, he posted the announcement next to a picture of his newborn daughter and trust social media, praises for his altruism flooded the internet. So sweet isn’t he? He’s a very good guy right? He’s so humble and gives back to the society right? You might want to start bragging about which of the richest men in the world would be able to donate up to just 80 percent of their shares right? But here’s the part that might just throw you off balance, what if I told you it was just an undercover to get more bucks into his pocket? The very moment I got the news that the Zuckerberg’s were planning to give away 99 percent of their shares I was literally shocked! Not only was I shocked at the percentage, I was also shocked on how just one family could have $45 billion. Here’s what I’m driving at, couldn’t they not have given their money away without showing the entire world the letter written to their daughter and the rest of us? Are you aware of the fact that Facebook paid only £4,327 UK corporation tax last year? I’m sure you didn’t know this. The funny thing about this whole charity donation is that everyone was so blind to Mark Zuckerberg's plan and sad thing is that many of you weren’t able to sit and ponder why? Those of you reading this would probably be calling me bad belle or envious or self righteous. It’s so sad to watch social media for a while now sing praises about Mark’s charity donation and not be opposed to the wealth gap, or even cry for a fairer world as to why a single family should be able to amass such wealth. But hell no, all of you took sides with the billionaires and only a few of us were against him. Now read carefully, a great bulk of Mark’s assets lie in Facebook stock-around 45 billion dollars’ worth. Mark says he would bequeath much of his Facebook shares to “further the mission of advancing human potential blah…blah…blah. In order for him to dole out these shares in the name of philanthropy, Mark decided and smartly chose to create a limited liability company called Chan Zuckerberg Initiative LLC. Watch carefully ‘Chan’ is his wife’s surname and ‘Zuckerberg’ of course is Mark’s surname doesn’t that tell you something? Creating an LLC like this is a very clear alternative to creating a charitable foundation, which would be subject to oversight and taxes. This means Mark pledged to move his money from one of his companies to another one of companies to avoid paying taxes on it. Isn’t it clear that you all were just being played? Let me continue, because it’s an LLC rather than a charitable foundation, Chan Zuckerberg Initiative LLC is free to invest in for-profit companies, make political donations and lobby for changes in law, support their very own pet causes, change the world the way they decide to and feel like a god. In other words, Mark can continue doing whatever he wants to do with his money. Let me summarize Mark’s strategy to you, it’s what I’m tempted to call an ‘all in all shrewd business practice’ that saves him loads of money that he would have been vomiting or handing over to the government in takes, but wait isn’t that what you all were tagging as “Charity Donation”? Mark Zuckerberg has engaged in some very effective tax planning, something that the titans of new technology have proved themselves pretty adept at. In truth, this 31 year old man has little confidence in Government, in its various agencies and in the politicians who control many of the purse strings. Instead, cheques will be written by the Zuckerberg-Chan entity to good causes, effectively bypassing government. However, the current richest man in the world Carlos Slim isn’t even too happy with Marks charity donation strategy. “Foundations do not solve poverty,” Slim said, adding that employment was the key to eradicating it. “Employment requires that companies invest, so we need to give away companies, we need to create companies” Slim said, according to Proceso Magazine. Slim’s statement came after he was asked during an event in Mexico City on Thursday if he planned to transfer his family’s stock in his companies to his foundations. “What’s most important to us is the flexibility to give to the organizations that will do the best work,” Zuckerberg said. “Regardless of how they are structured” Let me focus on the best case scenario, assuming Mark’s wealth would actually go to charity, where exactly would it go? This is very unclear, despite Mark’s bullet-point explanations of what he means by “advancing human potential” Advancing human potential is about pushing the boundaries on how great a human life can be Can you learn and experience 100 times more than we do today? Can our generation cure disease so you live much longer and healthier lives? Can we cultivate entrepreneurship so you can build any business and solve any challenge to grow peace and prosperity? Ultimately, these statements by me are seen as broad concepts and are not actually streamlined. But the world won’t figure out what He actually means in practice until we see Zuckerberg’s plans in action. So my dear loyal readers, until then, Mark Zuckerberg would continue to lobby politicians, invest in for-profit companies and avoid paying capital gains taxes. This translates to keeping the government away from touching - See more at: http://www.mozentre.com/2015/12/the-ugly-truth-behind-mark-zuckerbergs-donation-to-charity.html |
In a life where everyone doesn’t want to stress oneself, we all always tend to look for shortcuts to virtually everything we do. Here are 10 great stuffs you could learn in five minutes that you would never forget and of course would surely be of great help to you now and in the future. Another very important thing you need to note is that if you can be able to pay good attention to your everyday life careful enough, you’ll know that you can learn from everything and everyone you came across. So let’s begin with my amazing list of 10 things you could learn in 5 minutes that would be very useful to you in your entire life. Get physical and mental exercise I want to believe that the exercise thing isn’t new to you? You need to exercise every single day. Read and exercise for at least 15 – 20 minutes a day. Its life changing and the body/mind need it to function at the highest level. You’ll feel much better and more consistent. I need you to be able to read at least 2 leaves of any text at all, be it 2 leaves from a novel or your textbook or a magazine just any book at most, preferably one that is educational and informative. Teaching and training yourself to always read stuffs sharpen your brain and mind as well. Seriously, it’s very simple. Try it out and make it a daily habit. Learn to pray This is one part of this blog post you should take with utmost seriousness. I personally can’t imagine myself not praying in an entire day and I don’t mean prayers that come up as a result of you being in trouble or in a very difficult situation at that particular moment. Learning to pray is knowing that you need to always give thanks to your creator above, there is someone up there that coordinates everything you do during the day and at night, there is someone up there that makes sure you don’t get disadvantaged in your daily business or endeavors. So for this single reason I need you to be able to pray to God, He is your strength, your life giver. Make it a habit to always thank Him and give Him praise as soon as you are able to get up from bed every morning. Parents allow your kids to make their own choices Yes, I know they are kids and you parents always know what best for you own kid but allowing your kids to make choices that make them think they are in control would surely go a long way. Here is what I mean; when you want your son to wear his black shoes, instead of you giving him the black shoe to put on ask him this “would you want to wear your Nike air max sneaker or the black shoes?” he already knows you wouldn’t like him wearing the Nike air max that time so he picks the black shoe, and then you smile and you’re happy that he made the right pick. This makes the boy think highly of himself and boosts his self confidence. Pro-tip: in most cases, this works for adults. Never say “I think” or “I believe” Avoid saying “I think” and “I believe”. These are phrases that do not evoke confidence and would literally, do you no good. It tells the person you’re talking to that you’re not confident in yourself. Great standing posture Are you surprised? Stand up straight, no slouching, take your hands out of your pockets and place your head up high. It’s not just a cliche, you literally feel better and people around you feel more confident in you. The way you stand in public actually tells a lot about you instantly. Teach what you’ve newly learnt When you learn something new teach it to your friend. If you are able to teach something well, you can be sure that you’ve understood it very well. And let them ask questions to you related to it. Learn how to shop online If you haven’t started buying your stuffs online then you are missing out on a great deal. I advice you order gadgets and kitchen stuffs etc online. I personally don’t like the idea of ordering clothes online but making purchases of fashion accessories online is very cool. When you start shopping online it reduces the amount of stress you pass through on a normal day when you are in the market sweating and bargaining. You are able to get free coupon codes that slash off the prices of your items. It’s less hassle and saves time. And of course things bought online mostly gadgets and home electronics are always cheaper online than in retail stores. Why not try it out you could start with jumia NG or Konga. How to avoid bumping into someone Picture this: you and another person are walking towards each other, about to bump into each other. Then he or she moves t o the right… and you also move to the right. Then you both move left and right, about to hit each other again. When this happens, just stop everything you’re doing and remain stationary. The other person will be forced to move around you without causing any more confusion. Use Pingomatic Now this is something that would interest every blogger or webmaster that is reading this. This is a great tool I use whenever I newly publish a post on this blog. Pingomatic is an online tool that helps you ping all search engines that you’ve just published a new post on your blog and it also gets your blog indexed faster on search engines. Adopt the DIY spirit Learn how to start doing things yourself. Reduce the rate at which you pay people for things you could naturally do yourself. You could try fixing your bad ceiling fan, fixing a blown bulb, sewing your torn clothes etc. The DIY system is gradually transforming to a worldwide term. Now most bloggers could create their own blog apps without even any coding experience. Just try doing that first before you think of hiring someone to help you get the job done. Bonus tip: Create a website/blog or just learn to code Learning to code something is something most of us aspire to do at one point or another, as it’s - See more at http://www.mozentre.com/2015/12/ten-things-you-can-learn-now-that-would-help-you-the-rest-of-your-life.html |

I’ve been talking about entrepreneurship and what it takes to be an entrepreneur on this blog for a while now, in one of my recent blog posts, I also wrote an extensive post on how you could actually be your own boss even if you don’t have a degree or money. But I don’t think I’ve really actually given you any success story at all. Now this post would highlight one young entrepreneur that is taking giant steps in the entrepreneurship journey. Ladies and Gentlemen please welcome Alexander Orah a secondary school drop-out who turned a web designer and earns $200-$300 monthly online. I was able to force him to squeeze out time from his busy schedule just to ask him some questions as to how he was able to make it in a short while, so sit back, relax and enjoy as well as learn from the responses he gave me. Question 1 Why did you drop-out of school at SS1? He replied saying that he as an individual didn’t see any good in the teachings/lectures he was receiving at high school. I was shocked and asked him what he meant, he went further to say all he was being taught in high school wasn’t channeling his mind to be free rather it was turning him into a slave. What do you mean by turning you into a slave? He continued by saying that all he was taught then was to read and get a government work or work in a company especially oil companies because he had stated earlier that he wanted to be an engineer. Question 2 Now why don't you want to work for the government? He replied by saying that he’s also one of the government and that the government provide jobs for the people so he is going to create a multimillion company and employ people as the government that he is. Alex dropped-out of high school at age 14 in the year 2009/2010 and he says that it was very difficult for him at that time. Many of his friends and relatives started calling him names and made mockery of him. Not even talking about the challenges he faced and the pressure and heat he was receiving from his mum back home. But what surprised me was the fact that he said he was never too bothered about the names he was being called. Alex knew what he wanted to be so he took out time to seek for knowledge on that. It wasn’t easy at the initial stage but he was strong willed and dedicated to pursue his dream so he got knowledge on the steps to become what he wanted to be. Funny enough he started working (that slave he said he never wanted to become) in order to get a laptop. Question 3 What is it you wanted to become? He replied by saying that he has always been fascinated about technology and was fund of using computers. This rose to a point where he grew affection and love for a system and decided that he would use a computer to empower himself and the lives of others around him and I can tell he has started doing this. Alex started doing petty jobs so as to save up some money to get a laptop, after much hard work and coming home late he got enough money to get his first laptop, it might not be what he wanted at that time, but it sure did serve him a great deal and he was surely happy with himself. He also subscribed for a data bundle. So this is it, Alex now has his first laptop and data subscription enabled, what next? Alex started learning how to design a website which of course he didn’t know how to go about at the initial stage. He was bent on learning design so he started out by taking some online courses in web design and also had the support of his one and only best friend in the world (Google). He took time explaining to me about how Google had a way of producing answers to all the questions he had that experts he had met refused to tell him. Alex spent most of his time online, researching and learning website creation with many platforms (Blogger, WordPress, Joomla, HTML etc.) he became a website designer without much knowledge on coding. Now Alex is a website designer, not just a web designer but a very good one. Now this is the part you’ve been wanting to hear; Alex made his first dollar ($) online in the year 2013. Alex earns an average of $300 to $400 monthly online from both web design and his blog. He said being a website designer wasn’t enough that he wanted to be a blogger (which was the most seen title in search when he was learning website design) and immediately he started working towards it. He learned blogging for 2yrs, and got what and all he needed to start and run a successful blog. Question 4 Now that your first and second plans have been executed do you feel fulfilled? He gave a shocking reply by shouting NO! I in turn asked how and why? He said he had always wanted to become that engineer he wanted to be asides from being a web designer and blogger. Alex wants to become a software engineer and he agreed with me that school is the only way out. Alex has started making plans of him traveling to India and if he succeeds in going to India to study software engineering he says he still won’t be active in classes. Crazy isn’t he? I asked why? He said it’s because he would be hanging around software engineers for more knowledge. I was like; don’t you think it’s not right? He screams Hell no! And again I ask why? He says it’s because he doesn’t need the school over there. Question 5 Why would you say you want to study in India and still not need the school over there? Alex replies, by saying it’s because he has searched well enough in Nigeria and found out that no school will give you better teaching in software engineering than in India. He adds that he has been looking for software engineers in Nigeria but didn’t see any, so decided to look forward to Indians and found out that many of them are software engineers and I also do agree that Indian Colleges actually teach software engineering to the very best. Ultimately, Alex stopped me along the interview and asked me this question; Do software engineers in Nigeria that work for big companies receive millions monthly? I paused, gave it a rethink and answered by saying yes, and he sends a smiling smiley saying its one of the reasons he wants to learn software engineering. If you want to know the book that gave Alexander Orah inspirations he says you should go and - See more at:http://www.mozentre.com/2015/12/how-alex-a-school-drop-out-makes-money-online.html |
In all honesty, I’ve actually used my Smartphone more in recent times than watch TV. This is because mobile draws stronger neurological responses than TV. You might want to ask how? Here is how... A study from Facebooks’ IQ commissioned neuromarketing agency SalesBrain, showed that people are more attentive and tended to feel more positively toward the information presented on a mobile phone than on TV. With TV, people’s brains were more distracted and had to work harder to process the information. They found out that overall, mobile was on par with TV with regards to emotional intensity and engagement. Having said that, emotions and engagement were significantly higher for a couple of ads and in conclusion, the Smartphone experience is more immersive than the experiment of TV viewing overall. Now having known all this, having known how the entire world is going mobile including Nigeria, having known how much time you are ready to spend with your Smartphone’s than watch TV are you ready for someone to still restrict you on how you use your own Smartphone? Or how and when to express your feelings or thoughts on a particular topic trending on social media? Hell no! I’m writing this blog post to openly appeal to every single Nigerian reading this blog post now to sign the petition against the proposed social media censorship law. You still want to know why? Here’s why; The proposed social media censorship law is a travesty and a violation of your constitutional right to freedom of expression. It was around 5pm on Wednesday when I turned on my data connection and decided to go through my Facebook feeds only for me to see and notice all the bloggers and public speakers on my timeline using the Hashtag #SayNoToSocialMediaBill and at that very instant I was confused for I didn’t even know what message it was conveying but I had this feeling that something wasn’t right, I could feel and sense dissatisfaction and disappointment from all the status updates and tweets from bloggers connected with me. Jide Ogunsanya and Jacob Akpene were two out of many that made me look into the trending hash-tag. I did some homework and got in-depth information and was utterly shocked. I asked myself this questions; does it mean that bloggers wouldn’t be able to express their thoughts/opinions on issues concerning the country without being fined? Does it mean that anyone that perhaps shares a derogatory comment on a particular topic towards the government would be jailed? If yes! Then where is our right to freedom of expression? I’m deeply disappointed and strongly against this anti-social media bill that Senator Na’Allah and his fellow colleagues are trying to foist on our country at this critical time. Let me inform you that every citizen of this country that has access to internet connection should be able to participate in national dialogues and also share their own bit on any issue, no matter how stupid or offensive any public officer may see it. Public officers should know that they have made themselves FAIR GAME by going into the public arena and as such should leave their thin skins at home. Ope Banwo II a lawyer who spoke on this topic on Channels TV very early yesterday morning concerning the proposed social media censorship law says that in his own considered opinion that “Trying to criminalize vulgar comment or even sharing untrue allegations on social media by government is way out of line for people who rode to power on the back of social media onslaught against the last government and who kept chanting the mantra of POSITIVE CHANGE AND TRANSPARENCY in government” Funny enough, are they aware of the fact that Facebook and every other social media site already have built-in checks to control excesses, falsehoods and obnoxious posts? Truth is we don’t need the DO-NOTHING Saraki’s senate to add their own. Most of us are still struggling with Facebooks omnipresence online and this government wants to add their own? To be candid, I think someone; anyone at all needs to teach these clueless senators about the pre-existing and strict Facebook features that protect them from untrue allegations, so they don’t need to send any Nigerian to jail for silly status updates on Facebook or Twitter. Wait a minute, do you know what this bill means if it’s passed? This bill proposes a two-year jail term for the abuse of social media with the option of a N4 million fine. This is very ridiculous! To start with I’m not ready to go to jail for expressing my opinions on any subject relating to the government and I’m sure you wouldn’t want to go to jail too. So please act now and act fast sign the petition against this bill now so we don’t go to jail for expressing our thoughts cause the option of paying N4 million naira is just outrageous and for some of us if caught have no other option than to get jail term since we can’t pay the fine of N4 million. Ultimately I’m going to appeal once more and even beg every Nigerian that has access to internet service to please share this post after you must have signed against this petition to better our chances of stopping this bill from being passed. Sign against the Social Media Censorship Bill here. I disagree with you martins... You have just as much control as a WordPress blogger has in blogger blogs. Jide is on the blogger platform and he is doing well. Yomiprof is on the blogger platform and he is doing well. So it all depends on the blogger knowing what he is doing. obamartins: |

The need for improved technology in a nation can never be over-emphasized. It would be salient to make this point very clear that technology is not the solution to our 21st century education, technology is merely a tool to aid education and learning, technology on the other hand should not be taught as a separate schools subject, rather as a tool, technology should be used in all classrooms. Another issue tackling technology at the moment is the poor investment in such technology without the support and consultation from and by experts. You might not have noticed, but schools are actually spending much more money on technology but they don’t know what it's for how to use it. And because they spent so much money on the technology they lack in spending more money on training teachers properly on how to use it. So the end result of this is that things such as interactive whiteboards, iPads and Laptops end up being FEARED & ADORED GADGETS in the classroom or simply used as regular whiteboards. However, from my own point of view, I see all of this about finding ways to use technology meaningfully, so the investment made by schools is a worthwhile one, and it makes education more relevant to life and by making the learning very much more dynamic. That’s why I’ve decided to publish this post about the Emerge Technology Summit 2015. To be honest I couldn’t have just gotten a notification about this summit and then just go ahead to register without telling you about it. I’m very very interested in seminars and summits that train the new generation entrepreneurs in Nigeria. The Emerge 2015 is designed to bring together Web and Software Developers, Internet Security and Cloud Experts from across Nigeria and Africa on one platform at the Sheraton Hotel & Towers Abuja, Nigeria from 8th – 9th December, 2015 for the purpose of capacity development and networking. The key objectives of this summit will be as follows: Educate participants with trends and global developments in the tech world. Equip developers with the tools and techniques they need to be successful. Create an environment for the exchange of ideas via interactive and social sessions. Develop and promote technology and tech enterprises in Nigeria and Africa Emerge 2015 plans on drawing at least five hundred (500) participants from all over Africa. Speakers for the Emerge Tech Summit are from Nigeria, Kenya, Europe and America. The Emerge Technology Summit is a 2 day event but the day 2 is the Emerge Tech Summit proper it’s on the 9th of December, 2015 They have promised that it is going to be a busy day as the summit would be in top gear. They are sure that we should expect all of their guest speakers to be on ground just in time for summit. The day would be starting early and would extend into the evening with powered packed break-out sessions. There is no definite strategy or particular formula for becoming a successful entrepreneur. The entrepreneurial path is different from all other works of life and needs brilliant entrepreneurial skills. It was never stated that before one can be an entrepreneur he or she has to have a degree. If you wish to become an entrepreneur as a kid, teenage, youth, adult or at retirement age the process and principles are all the same irrespective of your degree or how much you have in your bank account. Nelson Mandela, former president of South Africa once said “money won’t relate success, the freedom to make it will” And I’m with him on that, you actually do not need money to make money. Nothing is more irritating than hearing one of the many generalizations that affect the business world and corrupts the mind of young entrepreneurs. You’ve have heard them, you may have even fallen for this false aphorism; “Follow your passion" “Fake it till you make it” “Entrepreneurs are born, not made” Perhaps, the most damaging I have heard so far is: “It takes money to make money”. However, after much research, I have been able to enumerate 10 strategies of becoming a successful entrepreneur without a degree or money. But before I continue, I vividly remember when and where and even from whom I first heard those aphorisms. I was barely a week into the blogosphere, I had just heard and known what it meant to be an entrepreneur, so I loved it and decided to meet with an accomplished entrepreneur, with great entrepreneurial skills, he was married, had 3 kids studying abroad but lived alone in Lagos. I can’t actually remember the context of our conversation but I know at that time what I wanted to learn were basic web design and basic graphics design for a start with a dream to reach great height, but when he said those words to me I was seriously wounded, discouraged and completely bewildered. At that point I had started my first blog with hardly any money at all. But I had a dream driven with passion, so I was able to get over what he said to me and know that it didn’t make sense, it wasn’t true and that it was also not applicable to me. Now, my first blog which was an entertainment based niche didn’t require much money at all because it was on the blogger CMS platform. All it demanded was data connection, time and me learning how to write. I told myself that not having money couldn’t stop me from having a blog of my own. I may have delayed or even killed my own dreams listening to what he told me, but I figured it out, and most importantly, attacked my goal with the little resources I had already. 10 Strategies of becoming a successful entrepreneur without a degree or money; Change your perception Remove the thought that without money or a degree you can’t be a successful entrepreneur. But here are questions I need you to answer for me, Are you prepared for the challenges involved? Are you mentally prepared to be your own boss? To become self-employed and succeed at what you do, you must change that wrong perception that clouds your mind. You must transit from being mentally independent. How do you do this? Start making researches, start reading books and train yourself. You must be accountable and most importantly; you must be prepared to fail because failure is a pathway to success. Identify your core skills What is it you feel you have or can do that no other person on planet earth can do? What service can you offer in exchange for money that people are willing to pay for? Do you have any talents or hobby? You must be able to provide solid answers to these questions if you wish to be a successful self-employed entrepreneur. Learn how to explore opportunities The first key to becoming a successful business owner is finding the right opportunity. Learning is a gradual process; you must continue to learn to see opportunities others wouldn’t see. “ Behind every adversity is an opportunity. If you lament over the adversity, you will miss the opportunity” – Ajaero Tony Martins You need to learn how to always turn your problems into opportunities. By so doing, you’ve picked the first piece of the puzzle to building a strong business. Learn how to raise money The knowledge and mastery of learning how to raise capital is key to becoming a successful entre - See more at: http://www.mozentre.com/2015/12/be-an-entrepreneur-now-without-a-degree-or-money.html |

Welcome back, our previous post was solely on the key roles of an entrepreneur, today we would be talking on the 5 key qualities of an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurs are some of the worlds most diverse and multifaceted people. A successful entrepreneur wears different hats and big shoes at the same time. He could be a project manager, surely a risk-taker, an accountant, a marketer, a salesman, a human-resource manager, a customer-service and PR manager and much more! The truth is that all would-be and successful entrepreneurs need to have certain set of qualities, Below are my 5 key qualities every entrepreneur should possess; Successful entrepreneurs are ambitious You have to have ambitions, goals (and a truck load of it isn’t still enough) in order to be a successful entrepreneur. What I’m trying to say is that they actively and unconsciously seek out problems, and have the ambition to proffer solutions to fix them. Doing so comes to them as a habit; it is their state of mind. Everyone doesn’t have this ambition, and it is one quality that defines an entrepreneur. Successful entrepreneurs know what it means to be successful These people challenge themselves to learn more and do more. They understand that all business is affected by certain internal and external factors, some of which are definitely out of their controls. They understand these limitations and either build their own capacity or world with people with different expertise and large bowl of experience in order to overcome these barriers. Successful entrepreneurs have excellent role models These role models are people that they aspire to be. They are people who provide them with inspiration and motivational guides that they need to be successful. Having a role-model, especially if he/she is your mentor too could actually change you drastically, take you to unexpected heights of success and might even make you unstoppable. A role-model could be anyone, maybe someone from within your social circles, family or - See more at: http://www.mozentre.com/2015/11/key-qualities-of-an-entrepreneur.html |
Well Crotonite, I think I understand you. But its never too late in life to achieve your dreams... If you wish to learn programming you could register and attend the event. And also teach yourself programming too. It all depends on your strong will and motivation. |
Are you aware of the fact that we actually do have little or no female programmers in Nigeria? If you go to any computer school or programming school, the ratio of guys to ladies is about 5:1 and it's sad. Women need to rise and take up the responsibility and will to challenge the male programmers. One of the roles of an entrepreneur is to be a Supreme Innovative Officer and it's only when you are able to sit down and think that new, creative ideas can sprout out your mind and fusing your wonderful ideas with tech is a sure bet for a successful entrepreneurship run. Well, I know over here in Nigeria its probably not a womans thing to be involved in the tech world, but if you're a lady and you're reading this, I would want to advice that you become computer literate at least. I also know that some of the challenges women face that has reduced the number of female programmers we have in the country ranges from - Lack of role models - Always being mentored out of the programming way - Social Pressure - Not having any personal projects to work on - Negative stereotyping - Different motivations and the list could continue. It's important to know that the age of first exposure to programming is not such a big deal anymore. I have fellow bloggers, colleagues and friends who actually did pick up their first programming language at age 18 or even less and were doing pretty amazing things. It just takes your determination and focus. Here is my point, the internet, has changed everything. The way people learn to program and find friends. So a lot of things would be very different for a young girl starting out right now but it's not tool late at all that's why the Women Tech-makers branch of the Google Brand and Global program for Women in Technology has decided to come up with an exciting event for all women in Nigeria particularly around Rivers state called CODE DAY. This event was structured to capture and enlighten women on the need to develop news skills technology wise and also start learning codes. The Women Tech-makers Port Harcourt is a day where women have the opportunity to develop a new skill in technology, enabling them become leaders in their individual careers and pursuits. This is that opportunity you have been waiting for if you've been wanting to go the tech way but haven't found the right time and people to motivate you. This is a perfect way to better your community through technology and collaboration. Women Tech-makers Port Harcourt is Google’s brand and global program for women in technology. Women Tech-makers provides visibility, community, and resources with the aim of showcasing the work and passions of women in the technology industry by providing a platform to celebrate their talents and spotlight role models. Date: 4th December, 2015. Venue: University of Port Harcourt Time: 9am If you're interested, you can register for the event here via a Google Docs Form for Women - See more at: http://www.mozentre.com/2015/11/women-tech-makers-port-harcourt-code-day.html |
Today I’m going to be talking on 5 key areas an entrepreneur should focus on. In this blog post, I’ve actually written out 5 roles of an entrepreneur. Let’s say you’ve just joined in on the world of being an entrepreneur and you’ve already started your own business with visions of doing what you love, but along the line you are already seeing signs that it’s not just going the way you figured out it’s going to be. The game has changed, and it’s not just your career path that is changing, it needs to be you too! As you keep learning and climbing your ladder of success gradually, here are 5 key roles and 5 key qualities you need to embrace. Below are 5 key roles every entrepreneur should possess: Supreme Customer Officer Let’s be truthful and point blank with one another, if you don’t have customer, you don’t have much of a business. Many entrepreneurs face challenges resulting from confusing ‘great customer experience’ with ‘great customer service’. For example, you think that by smiling, saying thank you and being nice would get you where you need to be? No! That’s no longer the case. The customer experience involves every touch point a customer has with your business and isn’t about your tactics, it’s about creating a true customer experience strategy and then executing it. There are great books, articles and blogs you can read on creating your customer experience strategy, but all I want you to know today is that you must have good customer experience not customer service. Supreme Financial Officer There are some of the most important functions in your business and your figures actually do need to tell a story of how you started, where you’ve been, how wealthy your business is and what you need to change if you want a long-term success. If you haven’t been keeping record of your figures or can’t keep record of them, employ someone who can. He or she must be qualified with at least a degree or certified training in accountancy, book keeping etc. Supreme People Officer It’s very OK not to have employees at that very early stage or building period of your business, but nonetheless, you’re an entrepreneur, so you are now in a leadership role. You’re going to get caught up in everything that needs to be done and you find yourself working all hours of the day and night. While you’re caught up in the adrenaline rush called ‘entrepreneurship’ you can easily get worn out! And no one wants to speak, let alone do business with a tattered person, so make sure you take time to look after yourself and exercise daily, eat properly (good balanced diet), sleep well. You would actually need all this if you still need to keep fueling your passion. Supreme Executive Officer The CEO of any company spends a great deal of time looking at the big picture, planning for the future and creating a vision. - See more at: http://www.mozentre.com/2015/11/key-roles-and-qualities-of-an-entrepreneur.html |
What is the relationship between entrepreneur and entrepreneurship? The concept of entrepreneurship has a wide range of meanings. In a nutshell, entrepreneurship is creating something while entrepreneur is the owner of the business created. Having known the definition of who an entrepreneur is and its relationship with entrepreneurship, I’m going to explain to you what it actually means to be an entrepreneur this 21st century. Ever since I was young, I’ve actually never ever wanted to dress in suit and tie every morning all in the name of going to work. Now that I’m grown and with some level of maturity, I’m in college and would soon face the real world and the labor market, I would still keep that dream alive. But you might as why? Here’s why, An entrepreneur is a starter Being an entrepreneur makes you the drive of your dreams and success Being an entrepreneur gives you this sense of responsibility and accountability Entrepreneurship isn’t all about financial freedom; Many at times we clamor for wanting to be an entrepreneur just because we are too lazy to get up from bed by 5am in the morning and get set for your white collar job or you’re probably tired of getting yelled at by your boss or even thinking that once you get on board the entrepreneurship train you start earning fast and much more than your former paid job. Well I’m not saying that they are all bad reasons in total for wanting to be an entrepreneur, but being an entrepreneur is very much more than the above reasons listed above. We tend to associate entrepreneurship with direct financial benefits and risk, but it’s actually different when that entrepreneur has equity in the company, he or she is exposed to financial upsides and downturns. This is the part that brings us to corporate entrepreneurship. But that might just be a blog post for another day. Types of entrepreneurs Amongst many, the major types of entrepreneurs include; I. Social entrepreneurs II. Serial entrepreneurs III. Lifestyle entrepreneurs Social entrepreneur You are a social entrepreneur when you pursue innovative solutions to social problems. A social entrepreneur adopts a style, technique, model which he or she can use in creating and maintaining good and healthy social values. Social entrepreneurs are most of the times motivated to improve socio-economic well-being, educational well-being, environmental and health well-being of the individuals they can reach. Most social entrepreneurs engage themselves in non-profit activities and are overwhelmed by great social responsibilities. Examples of great social entrepreneurs are Bill Clinton, Florence Nightingale and Dr. Abraham .M. GeorgeGeorge Read full post here www.mozentre.com |
