Sarki, a student of the Okan University International, Turkey is seen flaunting his obsession for cars, phones, watches and other luxury products acquired by him, his father and his siblings. Sarki particularly displays his love for the Mercedes Benz brand and appears to have personally acquired not less than two of its luxury brands going by his tweets. In 1993, Sarki’s father, Ibrahim Coomassie was appointed Inspector General of the Nigerian Police by the late General Sani Abacha. Under his tenure as IG of Police, in June 1994, president-elect Moshood Abiola was arrested without warrant and detained by the police. He was mistreated in prison, where he was held for four years before dying in June 1998. Although head of police, Coomassie evaded responsibility for Abiola’s detention. The Abacha regime is remembered as the most corrupt in the history of Nigeria and billions of dollars were looted from Nigeria’s treasury by Abacha and his cronies. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has revealed that he left over N287bn in the national treasury, made up of $2bn, £100m and N10bn in cash and property, being the loot recovered from the late dictator, General Sani Abacha. Coomasie was on Buhari’s list of individuals for the position of National Security Adviser but was dropped on the argument of his age according to media reports. He is currently the Chairman of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF). The brothers and sisters of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria under the Leadership of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky witnessed the reverting to Islam of a 16 year old girl. The girl was formerly a Christian and went to the venue where they were holding a program in Abuja and expressed her interest to convert to Islam. In an Interviewed with Pointer Express correspondent in Abuja shortly after her conversion to Islam Ifesinachi Anih said her decision was in line with her belief and conviction in Islam as the true religion of Almighty Allah SWT and the only way mankind will get salvation. Ifesinachi who is SS2 student of Apo Resettlement Secondary School in Apo District of Abuja, hails from Okano local Government of Enugu State in Eastern Nigeria, she explained that she notified her parent the intention of conversion to Islam but they disagreed with her later on she made up her mind to choose the true religion. On that faithful day around 9:00 o’clock in the morning the lady took a taxi from Apo and proceeded to National Mosque via Area 1, and along the road she saw two Muslim Sisters in their Islamic attire(HIJAB). The driver carrying her stopped and introduced her to the Sisters; so they went together to the venue of aThanks Giving program in honor of Hurras (Guards ) of the Islamic Movement Abuja Zone, who, became second during parade competition that took place in Zaria three month ago. The lady has chosen Amatullahi as her new Islamic name and appealed to other Muslims faithful to remain committed to the services of Islam in order to benefit from Allah’s blessing. Mal Abubakar Abu-Sumayyah the Amir of Abuja who supervised the conversion to Islam has expressed his highest gratitude to Almighty Allah SWT for making the process easier and prayed for the protection of her faith. https://en.abna24.com/cache/image/2015/09/14/0fd95401b2d35c4391391c60eb010ad1.jpg https://en.abna24.com/cache/image/2015/09/14/7c8ada634927c58410693f7ec0ec9d0d.jpg https://en.abna24.com/cache/image/2015/09/14/fe7f112cbb55dd744f36a106621e878c.jpg https://en.abna24.com/cache/image/2015/09/14/8aeb5e89f542d1f861350b3f3d4f376d.jpg http://en.abna24.com/service/africa/archive/2015/09/14/710663/story.html |

A Second Republic governor of Kaduna State, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, has said that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is getting it right in the fight against corruption, but not on other aspects of the economy. Musa said while the administration of Buhari had shown promising beginnings in its anti-corruption campaign, it was only showing glimpses of change in other aspects of the national life such as electricity, supply of petroleum products and national security. In a telephone interview with our correspondent on Friday, Musa said there was no certainty that these glimpses of change would be sustained by the government. He said, “The new government is doing the right thing in the area of anti-corruption, but only in that area. In any other area, even if there is any improvement, it is just a glimpse; there is no certainty that it would be sustained. It is not a question of doing more; they are not doing anything reliable. “I think in the area of fighting corruption and the stealing of resources, we have seen promising beginnings. In particular, the establishment of an anti-corruption committee made up of, on the face of it, very responsible people to advise the President on this anti-corruption campaign. This is admirable and commendable, and it would lead to success. In addition, there is the strengthening of this also by the promise of the President that an anti-corruption court would be established to deal with all cases of corruption. These are commendable, and it is a good direction towards restoring sanity in this country. If it is followed as promised, I think something would be achieved. “But in all other cases, it is just marginal. For instance, power. In the past one week, power has been steady in the area I live. Two weeks ago, there were power cuts, at least, 10 times a day. So, yes, we are seeing glimpses of improvement, but even during (the administration of former president Goodluck Jonathan, we had this glimpse. There is also improvement in the supply of petroleum products, but we hope these improvements can be sustained. But in the case of the anti-corruption campaign, I think it is more than glimpse, but it is reality that something would be done.” In the same vein, he said that privatisation was hurting the country’s economy more than it was benefitting it. Musa said, “Privatisation is not good for the economy. Not only privatisation, but a system and leadership based on self-interest first, then public interest second; a system based on the leading role of the private sector in the economy. These are not good for the country. We should go back to the system based on public interest first, then enlightened self-interest second. When I say enlightened self-interest, I mean self-interest that takes into account collective interest, on the understanding that it is the collective interest that can guarantee even individual interests, however narrow it is. If there is no collective interest, then there will not be able to guarantee security and other things. He also decried the situation where some state governments owed their workers months of salaries and wages. He said, “It is just to show the level of corruption, stealing and rot in this country. For example, many state governments had, for months, been unable to pay the salaries and wages of workers. I blame this on corruption. This corruption arises from the leading role of the private sector in the economy, which is based on selfish interests first. We never had a situation where a government at any level was unable to pay wages of their workers during colonial times and in the First Republic. The first time in the history of Nigeria we heard that a state government was unable to pay salaries of its workers was during the Second Republic, and the first state was Benue state. And we were shocked then. That was the beginning of all this nonsense we are experiencing today. “So, it is not a question of private or public sector; the issue is a question of the leading role, on which the system and leadership are based. During colonial times and the First Republic, government, not private sector, played a leading role, and the system and leadership were based on public interest first, enlightened self-interest second, unlike today. That was why we didn’t have this level of stealing and corruption in both the public and the private sectors, and the growth of the economy was steady. The purpose of government is the welfare and security of the people. They (government) should go back to the system whereby the state (the government) plays the leading role in the economy to ensure peace, equality, dignity of the human person and progressive even development of the country. http://www.punchng.com/news/buhari-so-far-not-so-good-says-balarabe-musa/ |

Gombs:this has nothing to do with lord bubu taking this man to meet obama, bro. You are still not doing the wailing thing the way you ought to |
nnachukz:This is a serious issue, man. Bubu isn't owing anyone. Plus Bubu travels for very good reasons and will never spend the country's money as Okorocha is doing to his state's. How can you travel with 100 others(using state's money) when you complain of insufficient fund to cater for the need of the workers? This to me, is insensitivity of the highest order ![]() ..And I hope this is not true. Remember when Buhari was traveling to the US, the wailers media reported he was going with over 100 delegates whereas he was going with 33 or thereabout |
If true, then this is wickedness! How can you travel alongside over 100 others with state's money when workers are still being owed several months of salary arrears. |
The trip embarked upon by the Imo State Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, alongside over 100 others has crippled the activities in the state in the past one week, even as workers and Imo citizens have described the trip as wasteful and amounts to show of insensitivity to the plight of the state civil servants who are being owed several months of salary arrears.http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/okorocha-s-trip-to-turkey-cripples-state-as-workers-residents-lament-govt-insincerity/220189/ |

Yes! ![]() Few days ago, I promised to come up with some "super-lovely" yoruba proverbs and here I am with them. Proverbs no doubt are a part of what makes the Yoruba language very rich. They are a quick, deep and effective way of passing messages in such a way that joining a thousand sentences together sometimes cant. For your reading pleasure! ![]() 1.) A fi o joba o nsawure o fe je Olorun ni? Meaning: You have been crowned a king, and yet you make good-luck charms; would you be crowned God? Being crowned a king is about the best fortune a mortal could hope for. 2.) A ki binu ori ka fi fila de ibadi. One does not get angry with one's head and therefore use one's cap to cover one's buttocks. Do not cut your nose to spite your face. 3.) A ki binu ori ka fi fila de ibadi. One does not get angry with one's head and therefore use one's cap to cover one's buttocks. Do not cut your nose to spite your face. 4.) A ki i bo orisa loju ofon-on; bo ba dale a maa tu pepe. One does not sacrifice to a god in the presence of a house rat; otherwise, when night falls it invades the rafter shelves. Do not do things that might constitute temptation to others. 5.) A nsoro ole, aboyun ndahun; odiidi eyan lo gbe pamo. We speak of stealing and a pregnant woman intervenes; she herself is concealing a whole person. Her condition makes her guilty of concealment. 6.) A pe e lomo erin-magbon o nyo; iwo paapa lo mi i? ![]() You are described as the child of the elephant that swallows coconuts, and you rejoice; are you the one who swallows coconuts? The description honors the father, not the person being addressed. 7.) A-bi-i-ko; a-ko-i-gba; ode lo ti nkogbon wale. A-child-that-was-never-taught-how-to-behave; a-child-that-was-taught-but-that-refused-to-heed-instruction; it is from outside the home that he will learn wisdom. Look well to your child's upbringing. 8.) Abulera ofon-on; o ni ojo ti ologbo-o ti bi oun o iti-i da a ni barika. Mouse-that-does-not-know-its-place; it says that since the day the cat delivered (a baby) it has not gone to offer congratulations. Never forget your vulnerabilities and limitations. 9.) Adigbonrankun nfiku sere. Death-feigning-beetle flirts with death. If one persists in flirting with disaster, disaster is liable to befall one. 10.) Afopina to fe pan-a suya: eran po si i. The moth (that) tries to put out the barbecue fire: the meat becomes more plentiful. A person who foolishly attempts dangerous tasks courts destruction. 11.) A bimo ko gbon, a ni ko ma saa ku; ki ni npa omo bi aigbon? A child lacks wisdom, and some say that what is important is that the child does not die; what kills more surely than lack of wisdom? A foolish child is not much better than a dead child. 12.) A ki i fi ona ikun han ifun. One does not show the throat the way to the stomach. Do not presume to know better than the expert. 13.) A ki le lku meji ka ma pofo. One does not chase two rats and avoid coming up with nothing. Never try to go in two directions at once. 14.) A nfotun teni, a nfosi tu sokoto, obinrin ni a ko ba oun gbo t-omo. One spreads a mat with the right hand while removing one's pants with the left hand; yet the woman complains that one is not helping her quest for a child. Some people are incapable of recognizing and acknowledging favors. 15.) Ahun nre ajo, o gbe ile-e re dani. Tortoise embarks on a journey and takes his house with it. One's dearest possessions deserve one's closest attention. 16.) Aja la ba ki; ese o peran funni je. One should rather commend the dog; the cat does not kill meat for one to eat. Assign commensurate values to your assets. 17.) Adie njeka, o mmumi,o ngbe okuta pe-pe-pe mi, o ni oun o lehin; ideregbe to lehin ngbe irin mi bi? The chicken eats corn, drinks water, even swallows small pebbles, and yet complains that it lacks teeth; does the goat that has teeth swallow steel? One should be content with one's lot. 18.) Bi a ba fi odun meta pilese-e were, ojo wo la o bunije? If one takes three years to prepare for one's madness, when will one start biting people? Preparations for an action should not be endless. 19.) Bi ajanaku o ba gbekele furo, ki i mi odu agbon If an elephant is not sure of its anus, it does not swallow whole coconuts. Unless one can cope with the consequences, one does not engage in an action. 20.) Bi ina ba joni, to jo omo eni, tara eni la nko gbon. If one is on fire and one's child is on fire, one douses one's fire first. Without first attending to one's needs, one cannot attend to others'. 21.) Obinrin beere osi beere. Innumerable wives, innumerable problems. Whoever adds wives to wives adds problems to problems. 22.) Obo-o ni itiju lo mu oun sapamo sabe inu, sugbon bi oko ba de, oun a sina fun un. The vagina says its is coyness that caused it to hide below the belly, but if a penis shows up, it will open the way for it. Modesty does not indicate a lack of ability or willingness to act decisively. 23.) Ogun agbotele ki I pa aro. A long foreseen war does not kill a cripple. One must take advantage of foreknowledge to protect oneself. 24.) Ohun ti aja ri to fi ngbo o to eyi ti aguntan-an fi nseran wo. That which a dog sees and barks at is nothing compared to what the sheep contemplates in silence. Some people make mountains out of other people's mole-hills. 25.) Oko abinuju ki i peye. A stone thrown in anger does not kill a bird. Whatever one does in anger is liable to go awry. |
