Thebushboy: You will need to get a lawyer or notary public to verify your documents. They usually request for international passport, drivers license and you study permit/introductory letter from CIC. If you contact a bank in canada from Nigeria, these are the documents required for you to verify through a lawyer.
Hope this helps. Thanks so much |

Biko, I hear people saying they transferred funds to a Canadian bank account and used the Canadian bank statement for visa. How do they do this please? As I am interested. What I found out is that banks will need your trv or study permit or pr before you open an account from Nigeria. Pls any one with knowledge on this should help me out.
Thank you. |

HiSignature: I think there is enough information on CIC website to aid an informed decision about what an accompanying child should apply for. Unfortunately, there seems to be no one here at the moment who has experienced this before; may be that would have helped with the answer she is looking for specifically which she seems to be looking for as well In the absence of that, your advise to chat VFS is the way to go, which i am sure they would refer her to links addressing this issue on CIC website. , True talk HiSignature When I chatted VFS they said my children (3 and 1plus) will apply for TRV. That's all I was told. And my spouse SOWP. when I am ready to apply I will ask more information, until then that's all I know. |

emeify: Thanks @bonen. Should it be indicate that the child is accompanying for the duration of the study or just going for a visit and will return? Am not sure how this works On this issue if child will be accompanying you or not or will need a visitor's visa, I advise you seek advise with VFS. you can chat them up through their website and let us know what they say. The information here is conflicting now. |

LadyW: MightyGIE, thanks for the concern. I asked that same question but have not received any thoughts from gurus.lol. My AOR is 16 Jan 2018....My application has been at "Bacground check in progress' since Feb 27....I guess thats what they call IP2? Spoke with a CIC agent 2 weeks ago and she said my file was in Ottawa....thats all she said. Considering school starts September 1, I have decided to apply for my Study permit. I mean what are my options? Sit and wait and hope I get my PR before September 1? In want of what to do, I would order for gcms notes tomorrow. What next should i do? Call CIC again, maybe this time they have some update for me? I really do not know what else to do, except wait and pray. Hmmm..... A tough one. But I would say wait, order for notes, call CIC again etc. Cos a refused study permit is of no use to you. |

LadyW: Oh yes...one UBC over here. Resuming September 1. Will be submitting my application on monday, online. Worried though as I would submitting the proof of Med Exam I did in January for my PR application. I included in my LOE that the uploaded proof of med exam was done in January, is yet to expire but I can go for another if I am required to. By the way, I am not sure of how to address my LOE....I addressed it to the Accra VAC, since i am submitting online. Any thoughts on all these? Please share. Thanks Hello LadyW, how far did your PR application go? Ask the gurus if it's okay to apply for a study permit cos it may show dual intent - applying for TRV with a PR underway |

mcobex: @MightyGIE I will like to rest my case on "if a student can apply for trv and spousal work permit together from Nigeria" and let whoever is involve do what is in his/her mind. Ok. mcobex , hopefully before I apply, I will have an example to work with. |

mcobex: @Slik07 , So what qualifies the wife for Spousal? if the husband(principal applicant) still don't have any right to be in Canada at the time of applying? You apply at same time as a family, when they approve the principal applicant, they approve every other person. |

Pls o.... If your funding covers the required money for you and your family, then will it be that, all you need to show is flights money? Then can a lump sum deposit in my account for flights tickets be overlooked? Or should I use a sponsor?
Thanks |

Slik07: Yes, you can apply for TRV & SOWP at the same time if you have the required fund to take care of your family in Canada. Thanks Slik07 |

mcobex: How will you apply for it when the principal applicant(the student) doesn't have any right to be in Canada? You offer letter doesn't qualify you but rather your trv. It is only when your trv is secured that you can now apply for your spouse(you can do that even while in NIgeria as long as trv has been secured). The only thing you can apply for your spouse before your trv approval is visiting and nothing more I beg to differ. That isn't true information. You can apply for your study permit and spouse open work permit and trv for children at same time. Pls more experienced people should talk on this. |

mcobex: SOWP can only be applied for when the main applicant's trv has been approved, so its either you apply alone first then once you get approved you can now apply for your family or you apply for visiting for your family and on getting to Canada it will be converted. NB: Hope you have your marriage certificate? cos it will come handy How true is this please? From school's pages and from discussion with VFS, you can apply for SOWP at same time as the student applying for study permit. |
