Ahead of the People Democratic Party’s national convention in Port Harcourt next month, one of the chairmanship aspirants, former Minister of Education, Prof. Tunde Adeniran has committed himself to lead the process to reposition the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and reclaim its national glory.

Speaking in this regards through Yemi Akinbode, his media aide, Prof. Adeniran, who was Nigerian Ambassador to Germany, urged the delegates and leaders of the party to entrust him with the responsibility of being the National Chairman in order to ensure its rebirth and the enthronement of good governance in the country.

Prof Adeniran, a founding member of the PDP who has remained with the party in thick and thin and served in various frontline capacities, said that task ahead of the PDP and Nigeria required “fortitude and experience to help the party achieve its objectives.”
He appealed to the delegates to the forthcoming national convention to support his candidacy given his wealth of experience serving the party and the country meritoriously over the years. Prof Adeniran said that he was certain that, as committed leaders of the PDP, “you do appreciate the great need of the party for the wealth of experience and the dedication that I represent. We will work together and leave a legacy of honour, excellent party administration and good governance.”

Prof Adeniran, who was chairman of the Electoral Panel for the party’s 2011 National Convention and Deputy Director General of the Presidential Campaign Organisation last year, said that delegates should view the forthcoming national convention as a golden opportunity to reinvigorate and reposition the PDP and install a vibrant executive team that would reclaim the integrity of the party and its frontline position in Nigerian politics.

He further said: “The convention will also throw up possibilities of how best to tackle the challenge facing our party and help our governments at various levels achieve the objectives contained in our party’s manifesto.”
He also urged the delegates to honour the commitment of the party to have the southwest zone produce the national chairman this time. Since the birth of the PDP in 1998, only the southwest has not produced the party’s national chairman either in substantive or acting capacity.

Among aspirants for the party’s national chairmanship, Prof. Adeniran’s credentials stand out. Apart from being a loyal and consistent party man all the way through, he has devoted himself to the service of the party as Chairman of the Presidential Inauguration Committee in 1999 and member of various Electoral Panels and Reconciliation Committees of the party between 1999 and 2001. He was also member of the Presidential Campaign Council (2010 – 11) and Chairman of the Screening Committee of the Edo State PDP 2016 Governorship Primary, among other key positions.

Prof Adeniran was Minister of Education from June 1999 to January 2001, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany between May 2004 and January 2007, Chairman of the Governing Board of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) between 2009 and 2011, and Chairman and Director of the Directorate for Social Mobilisation (MAMSER) from 1987 to 1993.

Toyin Aimakhu, the estranged wife of actor Niyi Johnson is in the news again! For those who are students of history, her marriage, consummated in Ikoyi registry in Lagos not up to two years, has since gone sour over crisis of trust and accusation and counter accusation of marital infidelity on both sides. No sooner had they separated that the actress started another unholy alliance with Seun Egbegbe.

Before now, there had been series of allegation about the lovey-dovey between the Yoruba top actress, Toyin Aimakhu and a socialite making forays into the movie industry, Seun Egbegbe. None of them ever came out to deny or accept the fact until recently when Toyin started granting some interviews in the media vehemently denying her new lover, Seun and the seaming love affair between them. When Seun was reading one of their interviews, according to a reliable source, who is a close confidante of the two lovebirds, an argument ensured and Seun allegedly said she should start telling the world about them, since he has been serious with her and, besides, his financial commitment and obligation to the relationship should be enough reason for him to be celebrated.

The cookies, however, crumbled when Toyin gave it back to Seun in a harsh tone that she could not do what he’s asking for because she’s just getting out of a marriage and peot of a marriage and people might not see her in a good light if they sensed has quickly rushed into another relationship.

Mr. Olawore as he was called to resume work and was assigned to counting and recording the church’s proceeds after every service. According to an insider, the church’s strong room has close circuit cameras installed in all the environ except the toilets. Olawore alongside other fellow accountants are saddled with the responsibility of counting the money and separating the hard currency from the local bill.

Olawore, a close family source revealed was very close to the bishop because of his intelligence, this paved way for him to head the department after a few years of his stewardship.

I have watched with keen interest the imbroglio currently going on between the Afenifere and the Eze Ndigbo in Yorubalands and I cannot stop to imagine how a man can claim to be a king of his village in another man’s territory where a real king of that land exists!

The Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere Renewal Group, seems to have just realized the negative effect this might later have on them as they are viewing this as an unrelenting desecration of Yoruba culture by the Igbo communities’ obsession with having a crowned king in Yoruba domains.

A chunk of the blame should first go to some Yorubas who have acted in the way of Esau by selling their birthright for just a plate of porridge allying themselves to the polity of the Igbos in the Yorubaland in decorating their Eze in a borrowed robe. It is globally accepted that there cannot be two kings in the same domain as there cannot be two captains in the same boat.

By asking South West Governors to stop recognizing Eze Ndigbo titles in their states is a nice move by Afenifere. How many Yorubas are Baales or Obas in Igbolands? Being a town's association president is quite different from being a 'king' in another man's land. I hope this would be settled amicably without brewing any tribal sentiment or become an impediment to our co-habitation.

This is gradually become a norm whenever the popular Fuji lord, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal goes to perform as one of his aides is always brandishing a weapon to scare away uninvited guests moving closer to his boss, K1.
As you are reading this, the police in Ogun State are set to question popular K1 over the shooting of Kofowora Azeez, an undergraduate of the department of Business Education, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye.

Kofowora was said to have been hit by a bullet allegedly released by the musician’s bodyguard during a party at about 1:00 a.m on Saturday.
It was learnt that the 21-year old victim was in a car beside NASFAT building opposite Limelite Hotel when the bullet pierced her buttock. She is currently receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Ijebu-Ode, while the shooter is said to have absconded.

The owner of the hotel, Sesan Rufai, has been invited to the police station, questioned and granted bail. The Ogun Police command has however said, Wasiu will also be questioned and he will be made to produce the suspect.

What these GSM networks do to raise money is to flash Nigerians promotions that will require them to load more cards than usual within specified period. i.e if normally you are to load N500 airtime which is enough for your use in a week but to be part of that promo you'll load N1,000 or even more. What that does, is to double the revenue of these network providers so they can rake in what they'll have made in 5 months but now in 2 months.
Instead of rewarding more Nigerians and making more impact, they will give outrageous gifts and rewards to individuals who can afford such gifts.

Does it not make more sense to enrich 74 Nigerians than to give two cars to two individuals?
If every year each of the GSM network providers give out N500,000 to 100 Nigerians in 5 years they'll change the lives of 2,000 Nigerians and there are people who started their live business with capital as small as N200,000.
We have millions of Nigerians living in abject poverty needing as low as N50,000 to even start a trade. Hundreds and thousands of IDPs, victims of flood and crisis unsure of where their next meal will come but we raise money for these GSM networks and what they do is line up millionaires as brand Ambassadors and pay them outrageous sum. So, the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. How sad?

A few days ago, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, the governor of Lagos state, presented his first stewardship report to the people of the state, via his first quarter report at a Town Hall meeting in Abesan Estate, Alimosho local government area of Lagos, where he rendered the account of his stewardship since taking over the reins of power from Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, his predecessor.

In his statement, he said that during the cause of his three months in office, he has reduced the cost of governance by N9b.
Well, Lagosians have picked holes in his report and didn’t subscribe to his summation. It’s obvious that Mr. Akinwunmi has just refused to work for the common cause of Lagosians, he’s only out to rubbish the legacies of his predecessor, whom majority of inhabitants and visitors to the aquatic state of excellence gives kudos to for making Lagos State the envy of others, this vindictive mission has caused the stagnant status of the State.

A working governor will not only reduce cost but will work to generate more finances for the State. If N9b has been saved so far, which area of infrastructural development has it been channelled to, what loan has it been made to service and into what either long or short term investment has it been ploughed? It is certain that, when you do nothing, you spend nothing. Penny wise, pound foolish you would say.

From the security point of view, Lagos is no longer a safe place, the return of the banished Okada riders now seems to have constituted nuisance in the metropolitan state roads. When the former regime banned them to ply the highways and some major roads in Lagos, relatively there was peace, in some notorious spots in Lagos.

All these activities going on in Lagos now have left untold hardship and a high level of insecurity in the state. As we speak, car snatching, armed robbery cases have been on the increase. Criminals are beginning to have a field day at the expense of law-abiding citizens. Now, we know the reason all the legacies Fashola left are fast deteriorating.

“Traffic jam is back in full swing, roads are getting bad, Okadas are back, security challenge is on the increase, and we are saving money while all these are left undone? Does that make any sense Lagosians,?”a concerned resident lamented.

What can we do, we just have to continue to render our prayers to God to make him see reasons with the masses and do the needful. At the Town Hall meeting, His Excellency needed not to have said too much because if he had scored above average, his works would have done the speaking and the people would have applauded him as they did with Fashola.

In conclusion, a lot of Lagosians and residents want Governor Ambode to succeed but the feelers everywhere within the state is the same; citizens of the state are just yet to feel his impact, with many gradually losing confidence in him, his youthfulness and vibrancy from whom they expect double portion of the vigour and handwork that ex-Gov Fashola brought to state, which has thus become a standard with which any other governor of the state coming after him will be measured and is expected to surpass.

Some of these flaks, were constructively stated, the aides of the governor, though, might not see it in that direction since they can always tell the governor what he wants to hear.

After the first prediction failed to come to fulfillment on 21st day of May, 2011, Chris McCann, the founder of eBible Fellowship has predicted again that today, 7th October, 2015 by midnight is the last day of the world.
An online affiliation headquartered near Philadelphia, has based its prediction of October obliteration on a previous claim that the world would end on 21 May 2011.

While that claim proved to be false, the organization is confident it has the correct date this time. The group's founder, Chris McCann told the Guardian UK.

“According to what the Bible is presenting it does appear that 7 October will be the day that God has spoken of: in which, the world will pass away,” “It’ll be gone forever. McCann said that, according to his interpretation of the Bible, the world will be obliterated “with fire.” According to this new prediction, however, there will be no stay of execution. On the day of 7 October, the world will end.
McCann’s previous prediction was that the world would end on 21 May 2011, but after the world just kept on turning, he updated his prophecy to this year. They made their predictions yesterday the 6th.

It’s obvious that none of the opposition parties will see something good in the ministerial list of president Muhammadu Buhari read to our hearing yesterday by Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
The list that generated a lot of controversies only has 18 men and three women whose proficiency in working with the president have been tested and trusted.

But for the strong opposition party, PDP, they believe there is nothing to celebrate about the nominees as they are same set of people that have caused havoc to our democratic system of government. Senator, Peter Nwaoboshi, for example said, “We have taken so long to have ministers and when the list came out, we found nothing special. These are names known to Nigerians. We have seen the names. I don’t know what to say because we were expecting saints,” he said.

He added that the era of according special privilege to former senators was over, saying Nigerians were expecting a lot from the screening.
“It’s not going to be practice as usual for our former colleagues. When we start with the list, Nigerians will know where we are going to,” he said. There is not going to be ‘take a bow and go’. We will take time to look at them and we would have a good screening. We are going to do a thorough job.”

When asked about his impression over the naming of 21 rather than 36 nominees, Nwaoboshi said, “That’s APC for you; that’s APC, Nigerians will judge. I won’t say more than that.”

In all honesty, a lot of things happened during Jonathan administration, unfortunately he was not aware and he solely put his trust and relied on the appointed personalities. This is quite unfortunate! The former president, Jonathan did not bother to supervise or monitor the activities of the people in his cabinet that is why they rubbished his administration with corrupt practices. He was ignorant of the monumental treasury heist that took place under him. Malok Jerry and Dele Ogunsakin didn't waste much time to fire him back on reading this statement he made.

In a meeting with President Buhari recently, it was gathered that the Bayelsa born politician was shocked when facts and figures were tabled before him about how corruption reigned supreme under his leadership. According to the report gathered from the private meeting, he was quoted to have said that he’s just realizing this corruption for the first time.
Facts, however, are beginning to emerge about the presidential meeting, which was said to have been facilitated by the former Head of States, Abdusalam Abubakar, former President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential Villa, Abuja was shocked to see how his aides milked the economy of the country dry.

We gathered that the meeting was at the instance of the 2015 Elections Peace Committee, after former President, Jonathan complained that President Buhari was not sticking to the peace accord they signed.

Jonathan was reported to have also sought for understanding on alleged corrupt practices and mismanagement of funds under his administration, with a source saying the former President claimed he was hearing about some of the graft allegations for the first time.
The report however claimed that President Buhari reportedly insisted that all looted funds must be returned to the nation’s coffers, adding that the President also restated his pledge that Jonathan had nothing to fear at all.

According to a source quoted by the report, the outcome of the meeting between Buhari and Jonathan formed the motive behind Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo’s declaration at the weekend that the target of the administration’s anti-corruption war was not Jonathan.

The report further disclosed that the former President was not comfortable with the way Buhari moved against his ex-Chief Security Officer (CSO), ex-National Security Adviser (NSA) and some ministers, asking the Abdulsalami committee to prevail on Buhari not to rubbish him.
Amazingly, the former president, GEJ has always been known to take leave of the truth. On so many occasions as president, he spoke from both sides of his mouth. At a campaign rally, he said stealing was not corruption. The case at hand now is so bad that even those he trusted who have come to him for succor are likely not to get the desired shelter because Mr. Jonathan has made it clear to them that everybody should now bear his father’s name whether you knew of corruption or not.

A source said, “This man is always economical with the truth. When the allegations against former Minister of Aviation, Mrs. Stella Oduah broke, what did he do? What of those alleged against Diezani? Was it not Jonathan who allegedly blamed the House of Representatives of inviting Diezani too much? Was it not under his leadership Diezani took the House of Reps to court? Was it not same Jonathan who allegedly said stealing was no corruption? Where did he get the dollars with which he was bribing traditional rulers from? Lie has strength, but truth has endurance.”

Another concerned citizen who were privy of this information said, “It’s so unfortunate to hear a chief executive of a country claiming he is just knowing if corruption perpetrated under his administration after someone's else has taken over the office, which means he does not have a way of checking people he employed to work for him. Anyway, Law does not know ignorance he should be punished according to the law of the land. The issue on the loot should stand, because it will serve as a lesson those thinking in that direction.”

Hard work, as they say, pays. Pretty but versatile and hardworking daughter of President Muhammadu Buhari, Zahra, despite being an undergraduate, she is giving all it takes to affect her generation and help, like her father, reshape the dwindling fortune of Nigeria and Africa at large.

Zahra is indeed a happy lady at the moment as she feels so good and on top of the world with her new appointment. She has received a new job as she posted some photos of the new office on her Twitter account. Zahra becomes new ACE (Assisting Caring And Empowerment) Charity Ambassador at large.

ACE charity is a non-profit organisation making a sustainable, realistic and effective difference in the lives of Africans. The mission of the organization is to re-define the meaning of charity in Africa while providing education, literacy skills and training to African children and youths.
Zahra, a medical microbiology student of the University of Surrey in England, is one of Buhari’s eight children.
