Hilary is married to her husband and not in a competition with him. If she(Hilary) is not happy that her husband doesn't describe himself as husband in his bio then she should tell her husband so and get him to do so. It's not in chimamanda's place to go and be telling other women not to be proud of who they are as wives and mothers which is exactly what she has just done. This was not about getting Bill Clinton to also describe himself as husband on his bio, it was about getting Hilary Clinton to not describe herself as mother and wife since it is now an abomination among feminists to be proud of things like that. Hilary Clinton's bio also included other descriptions like former presidential aspirant,hair expert,Flotus e.t.c why would chimamanda leave all the other descriptions and pick offence with 'wife' and 'mother' on someone else's twitter bio? What's wrong in Clinton describing herself as a good wife and a good mother? Is feminism now against women being good wives and good mothers and being proud of it? Chimamanda was just being foolish. I know that academic excellence has not always equated to being wise and this is just a perfect example. Chimamanda hasn't done up to half of what Clinton has done to advocate for equal rights for women and yet she thinks she can attack her for being proud of her role as a wife to her husband and mother to her daughter. Your description of feminism is good but I'm curious as to how chimamanda's attack on Hilary Clinton advances the cause of the kind of feminism you just described above. Clinton's only crime was to describe herself as a wife and a mother!! What's wrong with that? If feminism has started seeing being a wife and a mother as something to be ashamed of then it's only people who are not wise that will think it's only about equality. I don't know how a woman like Clinton who has done a whole lot more than chimamanda in advancing the cause of equal opportunity for women will be the butt of an attack just because she chose to be proud of her achievement as a good wife and a good mother. Another note, stop calling people backward just because they disagree with your views. Many people like me are also advocates of equal rights for all.
