RabbiDoracle: I don't think he is causing panic. Probably he is looking at the worst case scenarios.
Like in the country where I live, schools and businesses have been closed, embassies closed, banks work like half day. There is a limit to gatherings.
Some businesses are regarded as essential and must open. Pharmacies, supermarkets, banks, fuel stations. Only non-essential businesses could be told to close.
Once this start to happen all over Nigeria, expect a hit on Q2 2020 data in all companies.
Advice : separate investment money from upkeep money. Everyone should have emergency fund they can tap into for upkeep.
The last 2 weeks low in banks is yet to be seen again. People should stick to buying low. Don't chase price. I love panic sellers. Perhaps I must have misunderstood him. The bolded is the key thing here. Well said bro. We shall all be fine las las. |

Lol. This really is not the end of the world. I really pity the newbies here, who doesn't know how the game is being played. Worse than Coronavirus had been here before and people scaled through. Am very optimistic that this shall definitely pass away, and normalcy will return with time. It's well with us all. yom2: in fact the manner of reactions I see left and right one would think that the earth is under alien attack from mars and half of the earth population is gone. I believe equity investment is NOT meant for everyone. As many that will not be able to bear a drawdown (whichis inevitably avoidable), should kindly look for other forms of investments out there. Nevertheless everyone should stick to what works best for him and we're responsible for every investment decision we make. My candid advice though. It is well. Biafran4life: When you talk, it will sound as if you are against divergent view. The guy is only sharing fear and panic. Then you ask yourself to what end . living in fear is worst than fear it self. This guy case is becoming worrisome. It is beyond NSE activities |

On a serious note now bro, it seems you're creating unnecessary panic where there's none. No one have died of COVID-19 yet in Nigeria. Something is fishy. Please Don't make it worse than it is. Moreover every decline on fundamentally sound stocks is an opportunity for longtime investors to increase their stakes and make more money. Like Oracle and others have rightly said, the lower it falls, the better. Fingers crossed. Chibuking81: When all banks are shut down, with no cash in ATM, technically that mean business in Nigeria has been shutdown.
Market women will still be selling, but most commercial activities will be grounded with that move. Most stocks tomorrow will be on full offer. |

May the Lord help us all. veecovee: Yes you are right, we are in the wrong thread but ... this short answer for the benefit of all and sundry.
Yes, the rapture kick starts the great tribulation. However, what we are seeing now is one of the signs of rapture. "Pestilence" aka COVID 19.
No pandemic has ever shut down people movement and affected global economies for the first time like covid 19

Pastor, I think you're referring to the time of Great Tribulation. The Great Tribulation is not here yet. That supposed to start after the rapture of the saints. What you see now is a tea in iceberg. Refer to book of Revelation. Anyway, I think we're in the wrong thread. veecovee: ANTICHRIST (THE BEAST) IS COMING TO DECEIVE THE WHOLE WORLD ... THAT HE CAN FIX THE GLOBAL ECONOMIES.

Right on point brother. God helps us all as one case is already registered in Lagos. I think this -vely impact on NSE as well. LordAdam16: Don't expect any less. It's an election year in the US. The neo-liberal media will do ANYTHING to give the blue side an edge even if it means fueling a panic that tanks the market and kills hundreds of thousands.
Don't think much of it. Hodl your cash tightly and watch them play their games until things INEVITABLY stabilize from a safe distance. These were the same guys fanning fears of recession when the trade war started, WW3 during the Trump-Kim spat, chaos in Florida during the hurricane season, and a US-Iran war after the Soleimani strike. You'd be naive to think exploiting the coronavirus is beneath them.
Maybe they're right this time, who knows. But after crying wolf every day for as long as I can remember, pardon my skepticism.
It'd all calm down in two months or less and they'd start chasing the next negative story they can lay their hands on. Take adequate precautions though. I think it's been too quiet in sub-Saharan Africa; lest they include us in their sick games.
PS: Speak of the devil. Coronavirus is here in Nigeria!
It means going by the progression of the virus, US companies will have missed out on one whole quarter of what should be decent earnings. That the last two quarters no matter how impressive is unlikely to assuage the initial slump.
Already, Apple, Microsoft and co have warned they wouldn't meet their guidelines.
While that's concerning, it can devolve into something much worse. Particularly if clusters emerge in North America. That's what should scare you.
That said, take these "analyst" postulations with a grain of salt. They've been wrong many times before. No one knows anything for sure. Everyone is making predictions based on their limited viewpoints. Watch intently from afar.

The Oracle has spoken. Amotekun2020: The oracle of Omaha has spoken.
While Warren Buffett doesn't prognosticate on where interest rates are heading, the legendary 89-year-old investor expects stocks to continue to outperform bonds over time. "Our perhaps jaundiced view is that the pundits who opine on these subjects reveal, by that very behavior, far more about themselves than they reveal about the future. What we can say is that if something close to current rates should prevail over the coming decades and if corporate tax rates also remain near the low level businesses now enjoy, it is almost certain that equities will over time perform far better than long-term, fixed-rate debt instruments,” Buffett wrote in Berkshire Hathaway’s (BRK-A, BRK-B) widely-read annual letter. Buffett has long argued that stretched stock market valuations are justified by the fact that interest rates are at historically low levels. On Friday, the 30-year Treasury bond yield fell to a record low. That said, Buffett cautioned that his "rosy prediction" for equities "comes with a warning."
"Anything can happen to stock prices tomorrow,” he said. “Occasionally, there will be major drops in the market, perhaps of 50% magnitude or even greater. But the combination of The American Tailwind, about which I wrote last year, and the compounding wonders described by Mr. [Edgar Lawrence] Smith, will make equities the much better long-term choice
FOR THE INDIVIDUAL WHO DOES NOT USE BORROWED MONEY AND WHO CAN CONTROL HIS OR HER EMOTIONS . Others? Beware!"
In the opening of this year's letter, Buffett highlighted a once "obscure economist and financial advisor," Edgar Lawrence Smith, whose 1924 book “Common Stocks as Long Term Investments” would change the investment world. Specifically, the main takeaway from the book is that well-run companies retain and reinvest earnings to grow the business. Today, as Buffett points out, this once novel idea is now well-known: "combining savings with compound interest works wonders."
Berkshire Hathaway's top stock holdings. Berkshire Hathaway's top stock holdings. Elsewhere, Buffett touted Berkshire Hathaway's $248 billion stock portfolio, which includes names like American Express, Apple, and Delta Airlines. Rather than stock holdings, Buffett views these as companies Berkshire Hathaway "partly owns." He added that these are companies "earning more than 20% on the net tangible equity capital required to run their businesses" and are profitable "without employing excessive levels of debt."
"Returns of that order by large, established and understandable businesses are remarkable under any circumstances," Buffett wrote. "They are truly mind-blowing when compared to the returns that many investors have accepted on bonds over the last decade — 2 1/2% or even less on 30-year U.S. Treasury bonds, for example. |

I have officially closed my account on Trove. Their rip off is too much. Imagine charging $2.5 for every order no matter how small, outside conversion rate of 368.8/$. Coupled with their app anomaly. And I nearly placed my order after my own analysis on the same stocks while it traded $0.80. Nevertheless, I wasn't too convinced then. And when I finally placed my order yesterday, it got rejected twice by Trove. A big lesson learned. OakPearl: STOCK FOCUS
Tocagen Inc. (TOCA) $1.90
When a stock is gaining over 100% in a down market, you've got to pay attention!
Maybe this should have been posted Monday morning but I couldn't wait to post this one. That's because I witnessed what I have never experienced before. For the first time, I remained glued to my screen looking at the behaviour of only one stock for 30 minutes!
It was past trading time last night after 9.30pm Nigerian time, but the usual market makers trading was still on so I was able to see this stock trade from 42m shares around $1.88 until it rose to a day's high of $2.35 and came down back to close at $1.90 with a total of 50.4m shares traded finally.
I saw that it opened the day at a mere $0.90, meaning at a closing price of $1.90, this stock gained a whole $1.00/share, translating to a whopping 111% gain in one day! It has now gained 292% in the last 5 days, 210% in the last 1 month, and 256% from January to date.
This is such an "unreal" or out-of-this-world return I had to look for information why this is happening. I wondered if this could be a typical case of what is called "Pump & dump" especially when the last info I could lay my hands on was an article written since Sept. 2019 about how the stock had slumped from an all time high of $17.95 to a terrible low of $0.42.
I continued my search all night until alas I found the reason at about 4am. Tocagen is merging with Forte Biosciences. It was announced during their Conference Call on February 20, 2020.
A good entry and exit timing will surely make you some serious gains on Monday. N/B: Do your due diligence. You are the CEO of your portfolio. |

Ekuu Public Holiday. I was at Trove Office this morning. Two guys attended to me. One Miss Joke( Receptionist) and Praise (software developer). We discussed at learnt, but in summary, the following issues were pointed out. 1. High exchange rate: they said theirs was cheaper than the likes Chaka and co. After much deliberation, they finally agreed it will be addressed at board level. 2. Limit Order Issue: They argued that such issue is only applicable for those who are not buying a complete share. I.e. if you want to buy Tesla whose current price is $800/share (e.g), then you decided to buy 50% of that, which is $400. Such Order will be executed at market Order not Limit Order. They stressed that all these issuses will be addressed soonest, as the new Trove app is still a Beta version. Finally, the good news is that their web or desktop version has been launched: http://dashboard.troveapp.coAccording to them, it's more robust that the Mobile version app version. Generally, the Office is NOT mega, as you already know, they have just one branch for now. For further information, please do well to contact them: 09077132746. The last pix is Joke and Praise. I hope this help?

I didn't see GNPX symbol on Trove, I only saw it on NASDAQ quoted company, can you help out please. OakPearl: GNPX seems to be having a great attention with over 27m shares traded yesterday. This will surely continue today when the market opens.
It suffered depression after an all time high of over $19/share in April 2018 to an all time low of $0.23/share in December 2019. It has gained 106% in the last 5 days, and 612% in the last 1 month!!!
This is a typical resurgence and could have been classified as a case of "he that is down needs fear no fall". But I think there is more to its powerful rebound. Maybe a new discovery as they are into developing cancer related medication |

Do you mean using Dom account? Can one make a direct transfer (with USD option) using naira account? OakPearl: I guess you were trying to fund your account that's why you were asked for your debit card details being a Nigerian resident. This comes with additional charges.
I advise you rather do a direct transfer from your bank mobile app using the USD option. This way you avoid charges and get your funds converted to USD automatically. Always screen grab your transaction ID for quick processing though. |

What many doomsayers do not know is that the World is busy moving investments to US index. The confidence level here is 2nd to none. I do not know how the US did it but it appears, investors sentiment is favouring them. People have been waiting for the US market to crash since the inception of Donald Trump but the opposite is the result. I bought few ETFs recently and have been recording gain of 5 to 10% weekly. So steady and consistent. Better late than never. The US companies are doing well worldwide. They now account for 25% of global equities. China is battling coronavirus Europe is battling brexit Africa is Surffering from portfolio exit In all this the US $ is gaining ground daily. The way things are going, it appears the US market is now the gold standard of investing.
