femi4: If you are married to him legally, you have nothing to worry about but if you’re not, even if your name is on the property, you can still get kicked out That is not correct, once your name is on the documents of a property, married or not, you share ownership as marriage is not the basis for determination of ownership. People co-habit and invests together and not being married does not invalidate it. |

FireUpNow: Don't tell me that it's that Odo Iyalaro river that the developers sandfilled. I grew up in Mende too and I used to go swimming in that river under the bridge. After playing ball. At times we also go fishing there near cain Village. It was fun growing up in that area. They sandfilled a huge part of that Odo iyalaro and built on it! |

alizma: The issue is that most of the landlords are usually aware of the limited areas approved to them, so when the boys are sent from office to check what is going on, the landlords call them aside and give them something and they will go back to the office and say the landlord is building according to plan. Last 3yrs, there was a road construction ongoing and some houses were marked for partial demolition and money was paid to the landlords but some of the landlords paid the guys that did the marking to do some little adjustments like adjusting the marked area by 1metre or more which they did. This now made some roof to be too close to the high tension Sighs. |

olarent: I wonder, am also familiar with the area, government should be active from day one and stop it from initial not when money has been wasted. As a kid, I knew how that odo iyalaro could be when it rains (a wooden bridge used to be there connecting Ojota and Mende, constructed by Baba pako, an ijaw man who lived there with his family, collecting money from those who used his bridge) there was a one-storey building built near it back then, that sunk and only the roof could be seen....how years later, that area turned to "solid land" baffled me. |

Even though I grew up around that area, my family house not affected and knowing years back that some day, some of those properties would go down, knowing what that stream (odo iyalaro) was like growing up but were LASG officials in coma when the constructions were going on, that the construction couldn't be stopped?
The marked areas were sandfilled, it used to be a stream (odo iyalaro) with a wooden bridge connecting Mende and Ojota, where people paid to cross it. As a kid, I remember seeing some Ijaw fishermen in their canoes paddling with their catch of fish and being a swampy area with palms, some palmwine tappers also tapped palmwine just as the traditional worshippers of the stream were regularly praying there in their attires.

ibechris: If u are one of them I am sorry but that is the honest truth.
Developmental Problems They tend to get lower grades, and their dropout rate is higher than their counterparts from two-parent families. Single parents are more likely to work more hours to make ends meet. They often don't have enough time to assist the child with their school works.
Financial instability. One of the biggest challenges of being a single parent is financial instability. Raising a child is expensive, from paying for childcare to buying food and clothing. Doing it alone makes the costs seem overwhelming at times. Unexpected medical bills or car repairs can wipe out savings quickly. Effects of boys raised by single mothers: What are the effects of boys raised by single mothers? Children raised by single mothers are more likely to fare worse on a number of dimensions, including their school achievement, their social and emotional development, their health and their success in the labor market
Finally, below are the major disadvantages of single parenting.
Single parenting disadvantages Having less money. As a single parent, you may be at a financial disadvantage. ... Spending less quality time. ... Work overload and multitasking ... Negative feelings. ... Disciplining your children. ... Behavioral problems. ... Relationship problems. ... Clinging to your children. If "I am one of them"....I will not be ashamed because intentional parenting heavily influences better outcomes for children not exclusively the gender of the parent raising the child. All the copy and paste, you posted up there.....is what I deal with because of my postgraduate specialty... Clinical Child Psychology, so you want you posted is not "breaking news", I deal with them daily. A woman can become a single mother by being divorced, widowed or never been married. Go to Nigerian prisons and do a survey, all the inmates are not there because they were raised by single mothers rather most come from dysfunctional family settings where neglect by parents was central in their upbringing. Know this that being a single mother or father is not a mental health disorder, it is a social circumstance. |

ibechris: The last line says it all.
It will only take a miracle for any child raised by a woman no to boomerang.
Why u come give am belle before wedding now?
Like mother, like daughter nothing changes but age! What do you have to say abou rapists, ritualists, kidnappers, assassins, thugs, prostitutes, arsonists, drug addicts, gamblers etc who grew up into adulthood under the same roof with their fathers and mothers who are/were married to each other?..... Generalization is a dangerous mindset Maybe those convicted criminals in Nigerian prisons were raised only by their mothers. |

What has being raised by a single mum got to do with her not wanting to be truly married to you, her baby daddy?
You are a baby/single daddy, were you raised by a single mum, having children before thinking of marriage?
Run DNA tests on the kids and if yours, work on co-parenting. |

hookupagent1: English education That is a very good course to have studied.....there are millions of Nigerian students in secondary schools struggling with the intricacies of the language. You need to repackage yourself, set up an online English tutorial classes business with just your phone even if you don't have a laptop now. When I was doing my postgraduate studies in Psychology here in the UK, my side hustle was online video teaching of A'Level Psychology to young ones preparing for UK University admission. My one on one online classes were 90mins sessions with a student and each student did 2 sessions, weekly with me and their parents paid me. You can replicate same because our young ones are already active on phones, tablets and laptops and can be anywhere in Nigeria, while you teach them from your base! There is so much to live for. |
