In 2021, the Athletics Federation of Nigeria said many of the US-based athletes, including Echikunwoke, failed to disclose their whereabouts as requested for dope tests to be carried out.

In an interview with The PUNCH, Echikunwoke accused the AFN of being negligent, which she insisted led to their disqualification from the Olympics.

“That’s an absolute lie. Any time I was asked to disclose my whereabouts information, I gave it as soon as possible. I have the receipts. It’s the federation’s job to then set up testing once I give that information, and they never did.

“I gave my whereabouts about six or more times, and nothing came out of it. Protest are peaceful only in the south. The hungrier the people the angrier. That's what happened in the North.
This FG has nothing to offer. Same Tinubu told us to be patient for 8 years of Buhari. This is the same APC with same manifesto and even Tinubu himself said he will continue from where Buhari stopped. What we except to hear and see now is timeline of when positive things will start happening. We can't be patient without knowing for how long.

This CNG thing they are speaking of, they should give us a timeline of short and long-term achievement. We need to hear specific details from his Ministers now. All of them are just quiet like there's no issue on ground.
