The adopted Dapchi girl Leah Sharibu who has refused to denounce her religion has spoken up, begging the Government to rescue her from bondage.

Recall that, on February 19, 2018, a group of female students were adopted from Government Girls Secondary School, Dapchi, Yobe state, the girls spent exactly 31 days in the custody of the insurgents. According to reports, about 110 Muslim schoolgirls were released, it was also gathered that 5 of the girls died during the course of their abducted.

Leah Sharibu, one of the students is still being held by the insurgents because she refused to convert from Christianity to Islamic religion as the insurgents demanded.

It was recently gathered that a clip of about 35 seconds, was released by TheCable as a “proof of life”. In the clip, Leah allegedly pleaded with the Government of Nigeria to rescue her from her current situation. She reportedly spoke in Hausa.

According to reports, the audio released was a recording of a teenage girl’s voice and it reads;

“I am Leah Sharibu, the girl that was abducted in GGSS Dapchi. I am calling on the government and people of goodwill to intervene to get me out of my current situation.

I also plead to the members of the public to help my mother, my father, my younger brother and relatives. Kindly help me out of my predicament. I am begging you to treat me with compassion, I am calling on the government, particularly, the president to pity me and get me out of this serious situation. Thank you”

Paris Saint-Germain Striker, Edinson Cavani has announced that there is no problem between him and his team-mate Neymar.
Cavani and Neymar disputed which of them should take free-kicks and penalties for Paris Saint-Germain during their 2-0 win over Lyon at the weekend.

Luck ran out of a suspected thief, Madabuchukwu Unamba, from Ebonyi state as he was arrested by men of the Imo Security Network (ISN) in Orlu West on Thursday afternoon.

Maduabuchi, a bus conductor, broke into a shop located at Maternity road Mgbidi belonging to Mr Chijioke Ogidi an automobile electrician along side his driver accomplice known as Nwa Papa.
They were nabbed as they attempted to sell their loot at the Onitsha old parts market.

With signals from the Anambra state vigilante service, men of the ISN quickly moved in and got Maduabuchukwu having arrested Nwa Papa earlier and handed him to the Police.
Items stolen include eleven (11) Vehicle batteries, one (1) Tiger Power Generating set as well as five (5) mobile Phones.

Real Madrid are back in their attempt to lure Manchester United goalkeeper, David De Gea to the Spanish capital city.

Real Madrid failed in their attempt to sign De Gea two years ago, but are hoping to be more successful this time.

According to The Sun UK, with Real coach Zinedine Zidane having decided he does not need a new outfield signing after the club’s failure to land Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe, goalkeeper De Gea has become his No. 1 target.

The La Liga and Champions League holders are preparing an offer of around £46 million.

The corpse of a yet to be identified man, who was allegedly “struck dead by lightning”, has been abandoned at the Berger area of Lagos.

The corpse was abandoned at the Berger lay-by, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
According to eyewitnesses, the man was struck by lightning during a heavy rainfall on Saturday.

A man, who identified himself only as Akeem, told The Punch that the incident happened when the man was trying to cross the expressway.

He said, “The man was struck by lightning on Saturday. When the rain was falling, there was a lightning which was followed by a thunder clap. Later, I heard some people shouting. I went there to see what happened; and this man was lying there. He was dead.”

Another eyewitness, Olamide Niyi, said he was not sure of what led to the man’s death, but the residents of the area had alerted the police.

Lagos Police PRO, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, said he had drawn the attention of the Divisional Police Officer, Isheri Police Division, to the corpse.
“The police will remove the corpse and investigation will be carried out,” he added.

Midfielder N’golo Kante has been voted Chelsea Players’ Player of the Year at the club’s end-of-season awards dinner.

The 26-year-old France midfielder who scooped the PFA Player of the Year, FWA Footballer of the Year and Premier League Player of the Season awards earlier this month for his role in powering Chelsea to the title in his first season at Stamford Bridge, has now collected a quadruple of coveted individual honours.

Also, Hazard’s stunning solo goal against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge in February was voted the club’s Goal of the Season at the ceremony.

The ceremony was held at Battersea Evolution on Sunday and hosted by presenter Jeremy Vine and comedian Omid Djalili, both Chelsea supporters.

This is the second year running that Hazard has scored Chelsea’s goal of the season, after his dramatic equaliser to shatter Tottenham’s Premier League title hopes triumphed in 2016.

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, wants to bring in four top signings this summer, with Antoine Griezmann his primary target.

United will play in next season’s Champions League, after they defeated Ajax 2-0 in the Europa League final on Wednesday. Mourinho is keen to strengthen his squad, as he looks to build a team that can challenge in the Premier League and Champions League next year.

Last summer, the Portuguese provided chief executive Ed Woodward with a list of targets, from which Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly were signed.

And Mourinho has handed Woodward a similar list of targets for this summer.

The former Chelsea boss wants Atletico Madrid forward, Griezmann and has also made signing a central defender a priority, with Michael Keane, Virgil van Dijk and Victor Lindelof the three options United are considering at the position.

Manchester City has confirmed that Bacary Sagna is leaving the club after three seasons.
The French defender becomes the fourth first-team player released by Pep Guardiola’s side on Thursday.
City also announced the departures of Gael Clichy, Jesus Navas and Willy Caballero.

“It has been a privilege to play for this football club,” Sagna said.

“I have enjoyed every moment of my City career and will look back on my time at City fondly.

“I would like to thank the staff, players and fans for making my three years so memorable”‎, he added.

How Kidnappers Entered Igbonla Model School In Lagos, Abduct Students

Notorious kidnappers again struck at Igbonla Model School, Igbonla near Epe, Lagos, abducting as much as six students.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni in company of top police officers in the state led a search and rescue team to the school and adjoining waterways as well as forest in search of the gun men.

Source at the scene of the incident disclosed that the kidnappers used the Imeru/Iji waterway to access the swampy forest bordering the school, and bore a hole on a part of the school fence to gain entrance into the school compound.
CP Owoseni, who was at the school very early in the morning, appealed for calmness from parents and guardian of the kidnapped school children to enable security agencies focus on rescue operations.

The CP further added that security agencies were intensifying efforts towards ensuring safety and security of the good people of Lagos, stressing that useful information from members of the public would be invaluable to the team’s efforts.

On 19/05/2017, Policemen on stop and search duty along Aliade-Otukpo road intercepted one Victor Ogbu 25yrs, in possession of a locally fabricated Beretta pistol with four (4) live ammunition. The suspect who confessed to be a cultist and a student of University of Agriculture Makurdi, alleged that he purchased the firearm in Makurdi. Investigation is ongoing.

2. ARREST OF KIDNAPPER, RESCUE OF VICTIM AND RECOVERY OF FIREARM AND AMMUNITION

The Command based on information, trailed and arrested one Isaac Atsor 33yrs, on 24/05/2017 at a hideout in Ushongo LGA where they kept thier victim, one Mr. Ape the proprietor of Excel Grace School Gboko. He was arrested with the supposed ransom of ₦500,000, a locally fabricated Beretta pistol and one live ammunition. The suspect confessed to have committed the crime with four (4) others who escaped when the hideout was raided.
The victim has since being reunited with his family,while investigation and manhunt of the fleeing members of the gang is ongoing.
Preliminary investigation, however, revealed that the suspect just finished serving a jaill term on 22/03/2017 and was released from prison custody .

3. ARRESTS OF ARMED ROBBERS

The Command had on 14/05/2017 at about 2200hrs arrested the following suspects with fabricated dummy guns while committing thier nefarious activities at Ikyowe village in Katsina ala
a. Zahemen Avaa- 24yrs
b. Ebenezer Ikyereve – 20yrs
c. Teryima Orkeghen – 21yrs and
d. Lubem Torhile – 22yrs

This notorius armed robbery gang who have been terrorising innocent motorists along Katsina ala- Zaki biam road and dispossessing them of thier valuables, met thier waterloo when operatives responded to a distress that some robbers had blocked the road.

They will all be charged to court as soon as Investigation is concluded.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola’s wife and his two young daughters, were caught up in the terror attack at the Manchester Arena last night.
Cristina Serra and her daughters Valentina and Maria, however escaped any harm during the explosion which killed 22 people and injured at least 59 others.
It is also understood that several members of City’s staff were in attendance.
“Shocked. Can’t believe what happened last night. My deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims. #Ilovemanchester,” A message on Guardiola’s official Twitter account said.
Guardiola was due to fly to Abu Dhabi today, to discuss his first season in charge of the Premier League club with the club’s owners.
A club statement in response to the attack read: “The thoughts and prayers of our ownership, Board and everyone at Manchester City are with the people of Manchester and all those affected following the horrifying events of last night’s Manchester Arena attack.
“We have offered our full support throughout the night and this morning to the leaders of the City of Manchester itself and to the Emergency Services who are doing so much to support our city in these most challenging of circumstances.”

So many people came out to take selfies with Parastesh in the western city of Hamadan over the weekend that the police rushed him into a station and impounded his car to stop the chaos and clear traffic.
The furor began a few months ago when Parastesh’s soccer-mad father pressured him into posing in a No. 10 Barcelona jersey and sending the pictures to a sports website.
“I sent them one night and by the morning they had called me and said I should come in quickly for an interview,” he said.
Despite his early reluctance, Parastesh, 25, soon grew into his new role, cutting his hair like Messi’s and often donning the jersey when going out.
It has paid off — he is fully booked with interviews and has even landed modeling contracts.
“Now, people really see me as the Iranian Messi and want me to mimic everything he does,” he said. “When I show up somewhere, people are really shocked.”
Iranians are obsessed with soccer, and Parastesh finds himself constantly besieged by fans looking for a selfie.
“I’m really happy that seeing me makes them happy and this happiness gives me a lot of energy,” he added.
Parastesh loves soccer but has never played professionally, though he is working on some tricks so he can better play the role.
He remembers well the last game between Iran and Argentina during the 2014 World Cup, when Messi’s 91st-minute goal robbed the Islamic republic of a place in the last 16.
Parastesh’s father was furious.

Manchester United will face Ajax in the final of this year’s Europa League.
Jose Mourinho’s men barely made it through, after being held to a 1-1 draw in the second leg of their semi-final tie against Celta Vigo.
The hosts came into the second leg at home with a 1-0 lead and doubled their advantage after Marcus Rashford crossed for Marouane Fellaini to head home in the first half.
However, United were not too sharp in attack and chose to sit back, allowing Celta Vigo to equalize through Facundo Sebastian Roncaglia. There were no more goals at Old Trafford, as both teams finished with 10 men.
In France, Lyon failed to find the crucial goal that would have seen them play Mourinho’s men in the final.
The Ligue 1 side won 3-1 on the night, but crashed out 5-4 on aggregate to Ajax.

Manchester United edged into the Europa League final after a 1-1 draw with Celta Vigo in their semi-final second leg on Thursday secured a 2-1 aggregate win.
Having won 1-0 in Spain a week ago, Marouane Fellaini extended United’s aggregate advantage in the 17th minute at Old Trafford when he headed in from Marcus Rashford’s deep cross.
However, Celta set up a tense finish when Facundo Roncaglia scored with four minutes remaining.
Both Roncaglia and Eric Bailly were sent off after a heated confrontation and John Guidetti missed a gilt-edged chance to send Celta through on away goals when he failed to convert with the final kick of the match.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has told prospective candidates for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), to crosscheck their registration forms before Saturday midnight.
Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the board’s Head of Media and Information, said the instruction is to ensure total inclusiveness.
JAMB closed registration for candidates by midnight on Friday, May 5 and the 2017 UTME is scheduled to hold May 13.
“All candidates who desire to do any change on their registration details are urged to do so today as the platform closes finally by 9pm of Saturday May 6.
“We are giving all the candidates the last chance to ensure that everyone is carried along and provided with equal opportunity.
“We also want to avoid a situation whereby candidates will have cause to complain of one incident or the other just before the commencement of the examination,” Benjamin said.

Tanzania's conjoined twins plan to become teachers

Tanzanian conjoined twins Maria and Consolata Mwakikuti are in their last year at secondary school and are looking forward to graduating after their final exams.

The 19 year-olds are studying in Iringa Udzungwa in Tanzania's south-west region.

Their mother died after giving birth, their father has also passed away, and they were raised by a Catholic church charity, Maria Consolata, which adopted them and gave them their names.

The BBC's Leonard Mubali travelled to meet them.

He joined them for a class session and says they were getting on well with their classmates and taking an active part in the lessons.

He says Consolata was more talkative and engaged than her sister.


They told our reporter that they want to become teachers and hope to get married to one husband in the future.

Headmaster Edward Fue said he had been shocked when he met the young women last year saying he did not know how to help them because the school did not have special facilities.

The school, with the aid of the local government, have now built a special room for them to rest. They also hired a driver to take them to where they live.

Our reporter says that the girls are against the idea of being surgically separated.

Real Madrid forward, Cristiano Ronaldo’s volley strike against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena has been named the UEFA Champions League goal of the quarter-finals, as presented by Nissan.

The Super Sand Eagles on Monday crashed out at the group stages of the Bahamas 2017.



The team failed to progress to the quarterfinals of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in the Bahamas after losing 1-2 on penalties to Iran following a 4-4 draw after three periods.

Nigeria head coach Audu Adamu opted to stick with same five players who started in the previous game against Mexico in which they needed a last gasp Abu Azeez to win 5-4.

Moslem Mesigar went in straight from the start for the Iranians.

Iran showed why they are Asian champions and also ranked number five in beach soccer in the World when Nigeria stopper Danjuma Paul went down quick to stop Mohammad Ahmadzadeh’s shot just three seconds into the match.

Six minutes the Iranian forward Mohammad Mokhtari’s effort came off the crossbar while Ikechukwu Ibenegbu’s shot for Nigeria was saved by Peyman Hosseini.



Iran captain Ahmadzadeh put his team in the lead with an overhead kick with just over four minutes to the end of the first period.

Attempts by Victor Tale and Ogodo could not draw Nigeria level before the first period finished.

Three minutes into the second period, it was Tale who evened the score for Nigeria with a fierce shot but the Sand Eagles celebration lasted less than a minute as Mokhtari’s brilliant overhead kick restored Iran’s slim lead.

Abu Azeez who had a quiet game then peeled off his marker and his shot on the turn was blocked by Hosseini.

The Sand Eagles refused to roll over and Godspower Igudia’s pile driver levelled matters at 3-3 with less than three minutes to the end of the second period.
There was time for Iran’s second goalkeeper Hamid Behzadpour to watch his effort crash against the upright.
The two teams approached the third period with utmost caution until Ikechukwu Ibenegbu smashed in Ogodo’s pass to give Nigeria the lead for the first time in the match.
Two minutes to the end of the third period, Mokhtari’s acrobatic finish put Iran back in the contest at 4-4 and stretched the match into extra time.
The extra time produced no goals as it went into spot kicks.
Ali Nazem and Amir Akbari scored their spot kicks for Iran while Ibenegbu was the only Nigerian who converted his penalty with Victor Tale and Ogodo missing theirs as the Asians progress to the quarterfinals.
Nigeria finished third in Group B behind Italy and Iran.

Tianjin TEDA and Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel, has undergone a successful surgery on his hip in the United Kingdom.
The 30-year-old has been out of action since playing for his Chinese Super League club, in their 2-0 victory over Chongqing Lifan.
TEDA confirmed on Thursday that the Nigerian midfielder was due to have an operation and the player himself has now posted an update on social media on Saturday.
“Surgery went well, rehab next… can’t wait to be back. Shame I can’t be on the pitch fighting with my team #TianjinTEDA #TEDAFightingFightingFighting,’’ Mikel wrote on Instagram.
In his absence, TEDA lost 4-0 to Hebei CFFC this weekend.
They are currently 10th on the Chinese topflight log with eight points from seven matches.

The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) won 150 medals to emerge the overall best in the 25th Nigeria University Games Association (NUGA).
The games were held at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State between April 22 and 29.
The medals table released by the NUGA secretariat on Saturday in Makurdi showed that a total of 57 universities contested for medals at the sports fiesta.

UNIPORT had 70 gold, 47 silver and 33 bronze medals secured in Judo, Athletics, Taekwondo, Volleyball, Basketball, Scrabble and Tennis.
Ahmadu Bello University Zaria won 11 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals to emerge a distant second, while Benson Idahosa University came third with 10 gold, 7 silver and 9 bronze.
University of Lagos with 20 medals, made up of 9 gold, 4 silver and 7 bronze took fourth position, while University of Benin was fifth and the host institution took the 11th position with 2 gold, 10 silver and 12 bronze medals.

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, has admitted he would have loved to keep Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger at the club.
United are short of midfielders, with Paul Pogba injured and Marouane Fellaini suspended after his red card in the Manchester Derby. It leaves Michael Carrick and Ander Herrera as the only senior midfielders available to Mourinho.
Schneiderlin left United in a £22million move to Everton in January, while Schweinsteiger joined MLS team Chicago Fire last month.
“Our decision, our decision,” Mourinho stressed of the decision to let them leave.
“To have lots of players without playing is something that the players don’t want.
“We didn’t tell Morgan, ‘We want to sell you’, Morgan asked and said, ‘Please sell me, I want to go and play every game.’ So sometimes there is always this dilemma of keep a bigger squad, but then the players don’t want to stay.

Super Eagles star, Victor Moses, has spoken about how Antonio Conte made him feel as part of the squad when he arrived last summer and helped him become a better footballer.
Conte has converted Moses to a right wing-back for the Blues and the Nigerian has grown to become one of the most important players in the team.
The 26-year-old spent the last three seasons on loan at Liverpool, Stoke City and West Ham, as former managers did not rate him highly.
“It’s frustrating when you know your manager wants to use other players ahead of you and you’ve got to go on loan to different clubs,” Moses told Sky Sports on Friday.
“You get injured and all of a sudden you’re not getting back in the team. You can’t settle well. You’ve got to move your kids to a new school every season…Stuff like that is always going to play in your head.”
“I’ve never doubted the ability that I’ve got,” he added.
“Chelsea is one of the best clubs in the world and I’ve always believed I have the ability to get into the team. I’ve proved that this season. I just kept working hard and kept believing in myself. I’ve moved on from the difficult times now. This is a season I am never going to forget.
“We’ve got a manager now who gives everyone the opportunity to express themselves.
“I felt that from the start, right from the first day of training. He was talking to all the players. There was no favouritism. Everyone was the same to him. As long as you went out and proved yourself, he would give you the opportunity. I was very pleased to see that. It gave me confidence.
“I’ve always played in different positions. I don’t see myself in one position. I’m an all-round player.

Anthony Joshua produced a remarkable recovery, to knock out Wladimir Klitschko in the 11th round of an epic heavyweight world title fight at Wembley on Saturday night.
The 27-year-old appeared to be on the brink of his first defeat since he turned professional, after he was floored in the sixth round. But he produced a dramatic late onslaught to halt Klitschko with one round left.
After 10 rounds, two judges had Joshua ahead, one by 96-93 and one by 95-93, while the other judge had Klitschko 95-93 ahead.
With this victory, Joshua has successfully defended his IBF title, while also claiming the WBA ‘super’ belt.
“What can I say? 19-0, three and a half years in the game. As I said, I’m not perfect but I’m trying and if you don’t take part you’re going to fail.
“As boxing states, you leave your ego at the door and you respect your opponent. So a massive shout out to Wladimir Klitschko,” he told SkySports.

A Tottenham supporter has been left seriously injured after fellow Spurs fans mistook him for a Chelsea fan.
Michael Voller met a “violent and unprovoked assault” following the FA Cup semi-final clash between the two London clubs at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.
Voller was left with a broken cheekbone, eye socket and skull after the attack.
He was attacked outside the Moore Spice Restaurant on Engineers Way at around 7.30pm, having been identified by a group of Spurs fan walking in the opposite direction as a Chelsea fan.
Although Voller has been discharged from hospital following treatment, police say there are still concerns as to possible permanent damage to his eyesight.

Detective Constable James Robb, of Brent CID, the investigating officer, said, “This was a violent and unprovoked assault that has left a young man with some terrible injuries that could end up affecting him for the rest of his life.
“This kind of violence has absolutely no place at a football match, and I sincerely hope that those who were with the person responsible do the right thing by Michael, who is a fellow supporter and has supported Tottenham since he was a young boy.
“I’d appeal to all Spurs fans to think hard about whether they have any information about the person who did this.
“I’ve no doubt that there will be several people who know who did this and I would appeal to anyone with information to get in touch with us or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously.”

Veteran Bollywood actor Vinod Khanna, known as the heartthrob of Hindi films in the 1970s and 1980s, died on Thursday at a Mumbai hospital.
He was 70.
Khanna, who was also a film producer and a politician, died at the HN Reliance Foundation hospital, a hospital spokesman confirmed.
He was suffering from cancer.
Khanna made his debut in films in 1968, after which he went on to become one of the Hindi film industry’s biggest stars over two decades.
He is remembered for his performances in “Mere Apne” (My Own), “Mera Gaon Mera Desh” (My Village, My Country) in which he played the role of a villain, “Kucche Dhage” (Fragile Thread)” and “Achanak” (Suddenly).
The 1977 star-studded “Amar Akbar Anthony” about three brothers separated at birth was one of his most popular films.
“His screen presence is unparalleled even today .. .his superstar swag is what we grew up on,” film producer Karan Johar posted on Twitter.
At the peak of his career in 1982, Khanna suddenly left the industry to connect with spirituality at the ashram of his guru Rajneesh, or Osho.
He returned to Bollywood after five years and acted in two box office successes “Insaaf” (Justice) and “Satyamev Jayate” (Truth Triumphs).
“He epitomized the kind of actor and gentleman we don’t see any more,” film critic Shubhra Gupta said. “Vinod Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan were the best entertainers in the 1970s and 1980s.”
Khanna married twice and has four children, including actor Akshaye Khanna.
He was a sitting member of the Lok Sabha, or the lower house of parliament, and represented India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. (dpa/NAN)

Arsenal midfielder, Alex Iwobi, has revealed that he voted for Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante as the PFA Player of the Year, because of his contribution to Antonio Conte’s team.
Kante moved to Stamford Bridge last summer, after helping Leicester City win their first ever Premier League title.
The France international won the award ahead of this team-mate, Eden Hazard, who finished as the first runner-up.
Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic finished third, followed by Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez, Everton’s Romelu Lukaku, and Tottenham’s Harry Kane.
“He’s someone that works for the team and even though he’s a Chelsea player, you have to respect what he does,” Iwobi told Evening Standard.
“He works for the team and just runs non-stop – he’s got something every player would like to have. Every player would like to have him in their team.
“The engine, the energy he brings, the enthusiasm – he is my player of the season.”

Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, has hit back at his Chelsea counterpart, Antonio Conte, saying that the Blues have also spent big money on players.
Conte, on Tuesday, stated that “this season isn’t the only season both Manchester clubs have spent a lot of money. Look at the past”.
In his own press conference on Wednesday, Guardiola fired back, pointing out that he won the Champions League with a Barcelona squad that cost “zero”.
“I played with Barcelona and won the Champions League with eight guys growing from the academy,” he said.
“Zero cost to win the Champions League, that’s happened.
“But all the clubs are going to spend a lot of money and you cannot forget all the players that Chelsea have that cost a lot of money.
“People think that just City spend money but all the clubs around the world, in Spain, Germany, England and Italy, they spend a lot of money.
“This summer it is going to happen again. Here spends more money than the other countries because of the media, who pay a lot of money to decide when we are going to play. That’s why there is a little bit more here.”
He then added pointedly: “But all around the world there is a lot of money to spend, even Chelsea.”

The Rivers State government says it has concluded plans to ban all unapproved schools operating in the state with effect from September this year.
State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Kaniye Ebeku disclosed this when he led members of the Rivers state House of Assembly Committee on Education on an inspection of ongoing rehabilitation work at Government Girls Secondary School, Rumuokwuta in company of officials of the state Ministry of Education.
Prof. Ebeku said about five thousand illegal private schools are operating in the state.
He said that publications will be done in both National and local papers in the coming days with the full names of the affected schools.
According to Ebeku, “We found that there are so many unapproved quacks schools operating in the state and this is not acceptable for many reasons. They deliver poor quality education and because they are operating underground they are not paying required taxes as legitimate approved organizations.
“We would not want this to continue anymore which is why we want them seize operations.”
Chairman of Rivers State House of Assembly Committee on Education, Farah Dagogo pledged the commitment of the state lawmakers to partner the state ministry of education to ensure the maintenance of all schools infrastructure currently under rehabilitation by the Rivers State government.
Dagogo said the Assembly will help to sustain the maintenance of infrastructure in the Education sector of the state.

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, is facing an injury crisis ahead of Thursday’s Premier League clash against their rivals, Manchester City.
The club’s medical department is monitoring Ander Herrera’s fitness, after he hobbled off at Turf Moor on Sunday. Mourinho has already expressed his doubts over record signing, Paul Pogba.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo both suffered knee ligament damage against Anderlecht last week and are out of the season.
Juan Mata is also out till next season with a groin problem, while Chris Smalling and Phil Jones have missed the last seven games with knee and toe problems respectively.
Mourinho has encouraged the pair to try and play, to ease the burden on Eric Bailly and Daley Blind, his only two fit senior centre-backs.
“If I was Smalling or Jones, I would play Thursday, with anything, I would,” Mourinho said after their 2-0 win over Burnley on Sunday.
“I wouldn’t accept one guy to play nine matches in a row because I am injured. I would do a last push.
“If they have a crazy mentality like I have, they would [play on Thursday]. If they are safe thinking and they are surrounded by people with the same mentality they have, it is more time, more cautious. If it was me, nobody would stop me to play.”
