Politics › Re: Who Says Buhari Has Out-performed His Predecessor? by mistabiola: 9:16am On Jun 22, 2015
barcanista:
It is shocking that agents of the administration have started with their propaganda to deceive Nigerians. Only yesterday, Alhaji Lai Muhammed came out to praise the government and even stated that it has done a lot more than his predecessor. I believe that we should all look into the administration to determine the scector that Buhari performed. Please forgive me for the "lenghty write-up"

Corruption
It is on record that since President Buhari took over power from Dr Goodluck Jonathan, he is yet to initiate any high profile corruption case nor vigorously pursued those he inherited. Buhari inherited the case against exGov Timpre Sylva, disgraced Adamawa state exGov Muritala Nyako, his son Abdulaziz Nyako. He also inherited the case against exMinister Femi Fani Kayode, exGov Ali Modu Sheriff and immediate past Governor of Jigawa state Sule Lamido(and his sons). The case of Sylva is well publicised. Murtala Nyako was impeached for corruption and fled the country in 2014. He was declared wanted by EFCC in Feb 4, 2015 along with his son Abdulaziz Nyako. The exGov "magestically" returned to Nigeria 24hrs after Buhari took over. He reported himself to EFCC, drank coffee with the commission staffs and came out smiling. He has been granted "administrative bail" by the same commission that declared him wanted 5months ago. His son Abdulaziz was also declared wanted in Feb for N15billion fraud and was arrested in his hiding in Gombe state two weeks later. Funny enough the APC gifted him Adamawa South Senatorial ticket which they won. Nothing is heard of his case since Buhari took over. Modu Sheriff was first invited in April 23 by EFCC. He declined the invitation. The EFCC under Jonathan on May 24 announced that they will declare him wanted. Jonathan left power and Sheriff appeared from nowhere to visit EFCC. He himself went there to drink coffee and walked out. Nothing is heard of his case again. Buhari also inherited the case against FFK which EFCC under Jonathan had been pursuing with vigour. However, Buhari's EFCC failed to show up in court on the day of judgement. In fact, it was FFK's lawyer that was "begging" the judge to pass judgement on Thursday June 18. For the case of Sule Lamido, the EFCC had arrested his two sons for laundering N10billion in Nov 2013 which was linked to their father. Buhari inherited the case but the exGov "surrendered" himself to EFCC under Buhari, drank his own coffee and walked out gallantly. Not a single high profile corruption case that Buhari inherited is being pursued vigorously. The EFCC swooped on Ikedi Ohakim the ex-Imo state Governor few days ago and released him almost immediately. No case was heard about the former governor afterward.

In addition to the above, President Buhari is yet to initiate arrest and prosecution of any low profile case. The interrogation of NNPC officials was as a result of the May 18 directive that the exPetroleum Minister Diezani Madueke sent to EFCC after getting approval of then President Goodluck Jonathan. The 14 foreigners that are being tried for oil theft were arrested on March 8 under Jonathan by the Navy. They were later handed over to EFCC. The case of CBN fraudsters that are being tried for N8billion fraud was actually started in September 2014. The EFCC started their investigation in November 2014 and their arraignment followed after rigorous investigation. All these are under Jonathan. How many corruption cases has Buhari started? How can Buhari spokesperson claim Buhari has achieved more?

Security
Between Feb 13 and May 29, Nigeria recorded huge success against BH terrorists. Since Buhari took over, BH have struck more than 12 times, killing over 600 Nigerians as a result. The case of the Chibok girls is not even being talked of. So in what way has Buhari achieved more than Jonathan in Security?

Economy:
Since May 29, Nigeria's economy has been on the decline. According to The Punch, As of Thursday June 18, three weeks after the inauguration of the President on May 29, the value of equities listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange had declined by N238bn or 2.04 per cent, while the NSE All-Share Index fell by 2.47 per cent or 849.87 basis points.(Punch 19, June 2015). There is no policy framework on the economy as at today. Nigeria is floating on Auto-piloting system. So what has Buhari achieved?

Infrastructure, Education and Political Stability
Since taking over government, Buhari is yet to mix "cement and sand together" not to talk of kick starting infrastructural project. Nothing has even been heard of electrixity so far. Similarly, new policy direction has been heard on Education. The government and the party almost held the country and the National Assembly to ransom all because their preferred candidates lost principal office positions. This almost created a political chaos.
What has Buhari really achieved in these sectors?

Propaganda:
The government and their agents seem to be determined to "rule" the country according to the tenet of propaganda. Earlier this month, APC senior chief Nasir elrufai told the world that officers of past administration have started returning stolen money. Because it is was a lie, he couldn't name any official. He didn't even mention the amount returned, time the money was returned, and the receiving party.

The government is also trying to deceive Nigerians that they are winning the war on terrorism because foreign governments pledged support. However, they failed to tell Nigerians that the rhetoric support of foreign government is not new. In fact on May 14 2014, world powers pledged to Nigeria under Dr Jonathan that they will support the anti-terrorism war http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/missing-nigeria-schoolgirls/nigeria-will-conquer-boko-haram-goodluck-jonathan-says-n100116. It is also hypocritical and "propagandious" for President Buhari to count his "tour" as achievement just to deceive Nigerians.

The NNPC recently announced that the refineries "WILL" start working by next month (in their bid to give Nigerians the false hope that the government is working). However, they failed to tell Nigerians that President Buhari did not have a SINGLE input in the refineries turn around maintenance. In fact, he had no clue about what the contract papers look like. Anyway, the refinery is not working yet, we shall discuss more when it start to work.

In the first week of the administration, to appear transparent, the government tried to play on our intelligence by trying to use the secret Asset Declaration with CCB to equate the Public Asset Declaration. In fact, the spokesman of Buhari even boasted that by "declaring with the CCB, the President and his Vice had fulfilled their pledge". Nigerians resisted and insisted on seeing Buhari and Osinbajo Assets. They(APC) came up with another story that they are waiting for the 30days verification of CCB. Though we know their lies, we are counting on days and we shall remind them at the appropriate time.

I want to use this medium to appeal to the APC administration to forget the propaganda idea because we will not allow them such luxury. Nigerians should be rest assured that we will not stop to put the government to their toes despite the intimidation and verbal assault from some of their supporters.

softrise:
You are absolutely ryt on this. Chest congestion has been threatening me for days now. I cn't sleep at nyt because i find it more difficult 2 breathe while lying down. Pls whats the treatment for this?
Chest congestion is not only uncomfortable and unpleasant, but can cause hazardous health issues like bronchitis or pneumonia if not cleared up.

Eat spicy foods, citrus fruits, garlic, and ginger for easy chest congestion relief.

Try garlic and lime soup. Both ingredients can help to clear congestion. Add soda crackers to the mix to help even more. OR,

Add juice from 3 lemons to a cup of very hot water.

Crush some garlic (1- 2). Add this to the water.
Add some salt and a lot of crushed black pepper.
Gulp it all down and you will instantly feel better.

And lastly try to take hot liquids, hot tea ,hot water etc.

If symptoms do not improve with any of these methods, inquire with your doctor about an antibiotic shot, nasal spray, pills or prescription vitamin therapy to clear up stubborn or deep chest congestion. As the old adage goes, it's better to be safe than sorry.
Sports › Video: Sweden 3 – 3 Nigeria [women World Cup] Highlights 2015 by mistabiola(op): 2:59am On Jun 09, 2015
Sweden gave up a 2-0 lead to Nigeria only for substitute Linda Sembrant to put the Europeans back in the lead, which Francisca Ordega cancelled out with three minutes remaining for a dramatic 3-3 draw in the first game of Group D at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™.

The Super Falcons, having never beaten Sweden on their three previous meetings, came out flying in the first few minutes and had the Swedes on the back foot for much of the first quarter of an hour.

But an unfortunate own goal from Desire Oparanozie gave the Swedes the lead 20 minutes into the match. Emma Berglund’s flicked header from a corner kick was redirected into Nigeria’s net by the No9’s chest. A poor clearance off another Swedish corner made it 2-0, Nilla Fischer able to tap in to an empty net after the ball made its way through the crowd.

Nigeria’s front line refused to go quiet, however, and just after the break two goals in quick succession levelled matters. Ngozi Okobi’s brilliant first touch afforded the No13 plenty of room and space before coolly firing past Hedvig Lindahl. Three minutes later, Asisat Oshoala, the golden shoe winner at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014 opened her account for this tournament with a fine individual effort after a well-played long ball from Onome Ebi.

Sembrant handed the lead back to Sweden after good build-up play on the left side resulted in Lina Nilsson’s cross that the substitute managed to direct past Precious Dede with her thigh.

However, Francisca Ordega salvaged a point for the Super Falcons three minutes from time with a shot that managed to slip through the legs of Lindahl, leaving the two sides tied at 3-3.

Health › Beware Of The Trending Illness; Cough And Nasal Congestion by mistabiola(op):
This illness might lead to malaria, fever and all other infections.

After carrying out some research, our medical crew get to know that ;

Nasal congestion and nasal discharge usually signal the beginning of a viral infection. The mucous is usually clear for the first few days, cloudy for several more, and then clear at the end of the cold. Any mucous that has been in the nose or throat for longer than one day (expressed by a deep cough or good nose blow) is usually a cloudy yellow or green color. Enzymes that are a part of your immune system cause the mucus to change color. This is not a sign of bacterial infection or that antibiotics are needed. It is a normal part of having a viral upper respiratory infection. Congestion is usually the worst on days two to six of the illness. The most common causes of nasal congestion are viral or bacterial infections.

Cough usually begins shortly after the congestion starts. Most coughs represent the body’s effort to protect your airway. When mucous slides down your windpipe from your nose, it stimulates a cough reflex that tries to keep the mucous from going into your lungs. Babies are not very efficient coughers, so they tend to have more difficulty clearing their airway. They have particular difficulty doing so if they are lying down. For this reason, cough is usually worse at night. Most babies come into the office on days three to five because this is when the coughing begins keeping everyone up at night. Sleeping upright can improve coughing. Severe cough, fever, and fast breathing warrant an office visit.

Sore throats are usually caused by viruses (~85%). The rest are typically caused by bacteria called group A streptococcus, “strep throat”. A sore throat accompanied by headache, abdominal pain, chills, fever, pus on the tonsils, or a red, sandpaper-like rash might be a “strep throat” and needs a confirmatory throat swab test and subsequent antibiotic treatment. Sore throats caused by viruses usually start to improve after several days and are usually gone by day six or seven of illness. Blisters in the mouth or throat are almost always caused by viruses. Ibuprofen or a benadryl-maalox 1:1 mix (gargle and spit-out 3-4x/day) can usually help. Consult us concerning the appropriate dose.

Fever can mark the beginning days of a viral infection. Usually, fever caused by a virus resolves after two to three days, but can last up to one week. Older children can be observed for a day or two if there is no obvious source of fever (i.e. burning with urination, ear pain, trouble breathing, strep throat). Younger children need to be seen sooner if fever should occur. For example, a child less than three months of age with a temperature of 100.4 or more rectally, should be discussed with a doctor immediately. If fever persists in any child for longer than two days, lasts for longer than two days after seeing us in our office, or returns later in the illness, the child should be reexamined or discussed over the telephone to be certain that something else is not prolonging the fever such as a secondary bacterial infection of the ear, lungs, or sinuses.

If a child has day and night time cough and nasal discharge that lasts longer than ten days without any signs of improvement, they should be evaluated for a bacterial sinusitis that might be prolonging the symptoms. However, of patients with symptoms lasting 2 weeks or longer, 80% will NOT need antibiotics as the illness is still an uncomplicated viral infection.

Sports › U-20 World Cup: African Teams Reach Knockout Stage by mistabiola(op): 3:59am On Jun 08, 2015
African representatives at the FIFA U-20 World Cup have recorded a major feat for the region as the four teams – Nigeria, Mali, Senegal and Ghana – all made it to the knockout stage of the competition on Sunday only for the second time in the history of the tournament.

The only other time was in 2007 when Nigeria, Zambia, Congo and Gambia reached the round of 16, with Nigeria eliminating Zambia at that stage.

While Ghana, the only African side to have won the U-20 World Cup in 2009, will face Mali on Wednesday, Nigeria, the African champions who defeated Hungary 2-0 on Sunday, will meet European champions Germany on Thursday. Senegal will face Ukraine on Wednesday.

This fixture means that at least one African team will make it to the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Nigeria, who lost their first game to Brazil 4-2, bounced back into contention with their 4-0 bashing of Korea DPR in their second game, and only needed a draw to book their place in the knockout stage.

But two goals from Taiwo Awoniyi in the 33rd and 54th minutes pushed the Flying Eagles to second place in Group E, behind Brazil, handing them a second round ticket to face the top scoring side, so far, in the tournament.

Hungary, however, still qualified as one of the best losers and will face Serbia in the next round.

Thursday’s match will be the third between Nigeria and Germany at the U-20 World Cup. The Flying Eagles beat the Europeans 2-0 at the group stage in the 1999 edition in Lagos, and Germany knocked Nigeria out in the round of 16 after playing 3-2 at the 2009 edition in Egypt.

Nigeria coach, Manu Garba, believes his team will be up to the task when they face Germany, insisting that they must overcome the best teams if they must win the tournament.

He said, “It (the Hungary game) was a very good match for us. We wanted to score more, but still I’m happy with the 2-0 result. The Hungarians play more from the wings but we were able to control the game and the outcome.

“Our next game is against Germany but we are ready for any team, because if we want to be champions we have to be ready for them.”

Hungary coach, Bernd Storck, said it was difficult for his team to play against the Flying Eagles.

He said, “Our players’ fitness level was not at 100 per cent, as it was against Brazil, and to keep pace with an opposition like Nigeria is difficult. We started well for the first 15 minutes but they were better. I wanted to give a chance to all my players so I can test their level against these quality sides and I am happy that I managed to do that.”

Romance › Crucial Facts That Men Must Know by mistabiola(op): 3:48am On Jun 08, 2015
When we talk about sexual health, the focus is usually on women because of many peculiarities. However, sexual health goes beyond gender, as it affects men and women alike. Indeed, experts aver that reproductive health is an important component of men’s overall health and well-being.

One of the things that make men who they are is the male sex organ; its overall wellbeing cannot be overemphasised if men must function optimally biologically, mentally, physically and physiologically.

Physicians advise that routine visits with a health care provider can help prevent serious illness, as they can readily diagnose and treat the common conditions that affect men before they spiral out of control.

The Guttmacher Report on Public Policy laments that for much of their lives, men need a range of medical and, in particular, educational and counseling services to protect their own health and well-being, as well as to equip themselves to be good partners and fathers.

It notes that though policy makers are beginning to focus on men’s roles as fathers and husbands, little attention is being paid to their sexual and reproductive health needs. “Available data illustrate that those needs are substantial and long-term,” the report further says.

What are these health peculiarities that men should be aware of and guard against for overall well-being? Read on.

Peyronie’s disease

Also known as induratio penis plastica or chronic inflammation of the tunica albuginea (the fibrous covering of the testis), physicians say this disease is caused by scar tissue along the length of the male sex organ, causing it to bend. The condition can make sexual intercourse painful or difficult outright, they submit.

A General Practitioner, Dr. Grace Asiodu, says while the cause of this disease is basically unknown, researchers believe that it can develop after a trauma to the male sex organ – such as if something hits it hard, which may lead to internal bleeding inside the penis.

Again, she says – and this is instructive — certain medicines can have side effects that include Peyronie’s disease. “That is why we say it’s dangerous to indulge in self-medication or abuse of drugs that the doctor may have prescribed for you at one point or the other,” Asiodu warns.

She also discloses that the disease sometimes runs in families, but that if sexual intercourse is not affected, it may not elicit much anxiety.

She says the problem is mostly visible when the penis is erect, as it can cause the organ to bend into an arc shape, a situation that sometimes results in sharp pain.

In terms of overall healing of this disease, opinion differs. While some doctors say the situation can resolve itself in about five to 19 per cent of the cases, some patient’s case may require surgical correction.

However, according to Dr. Culley C. Carson III of the University of North Carolina, “A full recovery isn’t guaranteed.”

Beware of fish

Do you love to swim? Actually, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with swimming, except that you should know ahead of it the types of fish that can be your unwanted companion while the exercise lasts!

One fish to beware of as you swim is the candiru — also known as the vampire fish or toothpick fish. Experts describe it “as a species of parasitic freshwater catfish that is peculiar to Latin America.

The horror surrounding this small fish is that, unlike other fish that we know, it is parasitic and feeds on blood!

How this affects you as a man? Here: the fish is so tiny that it can literally swim into your penis opening as you swim. Once inside your manhood, it sees your urethra as a fish’s gill and then spreads a network of umbrella-like spines, which allow it to feed on your blood.

Experts say it could be removed through surgical intervention; but they also warn that the process could be terribly painful.

So, before you jump into that water, you may want to wear a cap on your manhood!

Too many women can kill

Many men count it a symbol of virilitility by getting around with many sexual partners. Physicians are saying it’s one sure way to a diseased life.

Asiodu says Chlamydial urethritis is caused by the bacteria Chlamydia trachomatis, and it can cause the inflammation or blockage of the urethra. When you consider the fact that the urethra serves as the passage for urine and semen during sexual intercourse, you’d work hard to protect your own!

The physician adds, “Chlamydia and gonorrhoea often occur together, and it affects people who are sexually active and those with multiple sexual partners.”

The symptoms include difficulty in urinating, painful urination, burning sensation during urination, discharge from the penis, redness, swelling, itching of the opening of the urethra at tip of the penis, swelling and tenderness of the testicles

“The symptoms can appear similar to those of infection with gonorrhea, but continue even after treatment for gonorrhea,” experts at medlineplus, an online community, say.

In fact, as bad as this infection is, a case study from India reports that it can leave the penis twisted and swollen, making sexual intercourse absolutely impossible!

So, men who think that conquering the world amounts to fooling around sexually should have a rethink.

Vigorous sex can break you

In these days of unguarded drug use, it’s not uncommon to see men who take aphrodisiacs at will, all in a bid to ‘surprise’ their partners. However, researchers at Ohio State University warn that vigorous sex can break the cylindrical tubes (the corpus cavernosa) that fill with blood when you have an erection!

The scientists warn, “These tubes can rupture and cause blood to fill your penis, leading to swelling and permanent deformity or loss of sexual function if not surgically treated immediately.”
