I think Nigerians should stop been myopic in their thinking, we know these institutions are far behind on their curriculum but we should look at the bigger picture. How many tertiary institutions can fully comply with NCDC guidelines? hostels in those institutions with population how can they maintain social distancing? hence it is important institutions remain closed until COVID-19 is dealt with

First, you must have weighed the consequences (positive and negative) before you tendered your resignation in the first place.
Secondly, that you secured a new job (despite no longer federal) within a few days after leaving your previous job shows that you knows your onions.

My advice.

Since you identified security of life as your primary purpose of leaving your former job, I will advise you to stick with that conviction and work out the supposed human relationship dilemma you finds yourself in the south with your present job. This is because it is only the living that can make a LIVING. Sometimes, we should look beyond our present situation and see the possibilities and potentials that exist within the same circumstances.

Meanwhile, since it was a federal medical institution you left, you would have instead seek transfer, and not resignation. Anyway, the deed is done.

So, establish a better working relationship with those in your present job currently making you to regret your resignation of your previous job, and see things turn around for your good.

What if in the process of seeking return to your previous job, you lose your current job, and you still didn't get back your previous job, what will you do? WILL YOU COMMIT SUICIDE?

Thanks for your advice man.. I'm not in a private, I'm still in same federal government work exactly as I was in the north, insecurity chased me down here but human relations here is what I'm yet to contend with.. Thank you once again

Yes you can. It depends on if you had built good relationships before you left and the circumstances you left. Also, if they are compassionate people there. I say this because my sister resigned from a top federal parastatal some years ago to work for an NGO. After about 6 months she couldn’t cope with the constant travel and stress so she went back. Met the HR and she was allowed to withdraw her resignation. And she resumed back.

Most who have stayed in both regions won't even argue with you. The north is infamous for being uneducated, unsecured, backward, etc, yet the people over there lead far better lives than southerners. Probably because they are less greedy and easily contented.

I just checked the public service rules, there's no clause that says you can cancel your resignation. You can check your former place of employment to see if such a clause is in their conditions of service.

Where did u check it please.. Some people said 3 months it can be cancelled

I see u as someone who has not explore different environment while growing up and this is affecting ur ability to cope with crazy people. As for me I won't trade my life on security factor I would rather take on any human challenges than managing insecurity.

I was actually advised to relocate bc of insecurity in the north west, I must confess I was once attacked by bandits and things worth up to 500k stolen from me, in fact I miraculously escaped from them to survive... I'm in the south now, doing exactly same job, there is security here but the savages in the office make me feel I should go back up north where I enjoyed peace in the office

Per your work contract, did you not have to specify some weeks' or months' notice before your resignation became effective or salary in lieu? Some facts are missing.

Next time, take a leave and don't resign too quickly. If you have been removed from the payroll, you cannot just saunter into the position you resigned from. You have to go through a fresh recruitment process. Point being that you need to talk to the HR personnel in the uni and not nairalanders.

My resignation took effect from the 31st of July last month, so I'm barely two weeks since it expired

Is purely bc of that, yes there is insecurity in the north and I have being attacked before and my things worth up to 500k carted away but I enjoyed good working condition with people with good mind but here everyone is bitter.. I prefer to endure the insecurity, if I perish I perish than to be in a bitter working environment

. 1. Discuss with the registrar of the institution you resigned from for his assistance.2. Within a month you can withdraw your letter. 3. Dont ever resign from a federal job to take a state job .You can transfer your service from a federal job to another federal job eaocially if it is an insititution.

I'm still in a federal job.. Same job just another federal government hospital

OK, thanks... The security situation there hasn't improved actually, its one of the northern states ravaged by banditry, I have actually been attacked once but I enjoy good working relationships there which I lack here

As you left your position in the North, over 10 people who are indigenes had applied to fill that position and only the person with the strongest connection was able to fill the position you left: in summary, no position for you to re-occupy again
