bellong:I only shared what i know. I figured such guidelines which is a form of regulatory internal memo, would have been sent to all assessing body. Well, every law is subject to interpretation. I can go with the possibility of you saying the guideline as handed down by the education dept could be outdated by now, given the fact that mail from vetassess came in december 2015. I have not mislead anybody so far, i have nothing to gain by doing that. I have only tried to say based on my experience people should do a background check before they jettison study route for PR. They should atleast have an idea, that there is such a thing as characterization of Nigerian Universities. A quick example, someone that has no prior info about AL1 to AL3 schools/nations will accept any school handed over by an agent. Only to get to the proof of Funds section, and they start bitting fingers on what to do. Saying nobody ever mentioned it. It is just meant to guide whom ever it will guide, not everybody. It will enable people thread carefully. However, i have always looked forward to your comment on this thread, as it is always filled with deeper insight into situation of things. Believe me, you've also been very helpful to me in ways you do not know. Atleast the silent participants will also learn a thing from our conversation. |
oknee:I feel you. But why i generalized is simply because they cited Department of Education guidelines as their reason for their decision. I only reckoned that such guideline must have been issued to all assessing bodies. Shey you get. Also note that there is no engineering course that can be completed in 4years. That is why they are assessed positively regardless of institution. But is you are presenting a 4year course you need find out what section your uni belongs to on the Australian education dept guideline. If it is section 1 then your safe, if you fall in section 2 like me, then you are losing money and precious time. Hence, stick with study route |
Find below evidence backing my submission. It can be helpful to any hopefulls to get your background checks about your school straight before you embark on the PR route. Dear Babajide, I refer to your enquiry regarding your negative skills assessment. I have outlined the following details to explain how the negative outcome of your case was determined. Your nominated occupation was Geologist ANZSCO Code 234411. This is a Group A occupation assessed by VETASSESS. This occupation requires a qualification which is assessed at the level of, at least, an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Bachelor degree or higher, in a highly relevant field to the nominated occupation. In addition to this, the applicant must have at least one year of post-qualification employment in a field which is highly relevant and at an appropriate skill level to your nominated occupation and completed in the five years before the date of application for a Skills Assessment. If the qualification(s) are not at the required educational level, or if the employment has been completed prior to the qualification, then the employment will be assessed below the required skill level. Academic Qualification: Bachelor of Science (Honours) completed in 2010 at the University of Maiduguri, Nigeria According to the Country Education Profile for Nigeria, published by the Department of Education and Training, Higher Education Sector, Section 2, Guideline 3, a 4-year full time Bachelor degree is comparable to the educational level of AQF Associate Degree. The University of Maiduguri is classified as a Section 2 institution, and your transcript shows that your degree is four years in duration. Therefore this guideline applies and your qualification is assessed as below the required educational level. The field of study is relevant, but the qualification is below the required educational level. Please note that a positive assessment for qualification and employment is required for an overall positive outcome. |

Kindly note that i am a member if that thread. Nobody ever mentioned school ranking there. Lemme educate you based on my experience. My friend from OAU and i, appliied for assessment with Vetassess. We both studied 4year geology course, i did in my study at University of Maiduguri.. going by our transcripts i offered more course work than him with more industrial attachments. He got positive assessment for education while mine was a negative assessment, sighting that mine was not equivalent to an australian degree. I quickly followed up with them, with my friends case. Then i received a long mail from them telling me that they have a ranking system in place for Nigerian Universities and in order to be positively assessed from University of Maiduguri, i have to come up with a 5years degree. That is they only grant positive assessment for 4years course from just a few select institution. So OGA i know what am talking about. This might help someone. This was late 2015. If i had gone through school route jeje, i would be rounding up now, even then. Dollar was cheap, you need to know that there is nothing as dangerous as delay. Mind you i am not a fountain of knowledge i am only sharing experience not hear say. I payed 800AUD for that assessment. So please let us be objective and educate people well, b4 you go waste months and money to obtain a negative assessment at the end of the day. I will try login in into vetassess and provide you their response. That is my 3 cowries |
What most people do not understand or simply fail to say is that, not all Universities get positive assessment for PR route. If you've studied a 4year course in any university other than the top rank Nigerian university(OAU, ABU, UniZik and the likes) you are sure going to get a negative assessment. They have their own ranking list for Nigerian institutions. PR route is just for people with 5years Nigerian university study. I learnt this truth the hard way and very late. Secondly, if your work experience is with nameless organizations, sorry for you as well. I keep hearing PR route, but no one comes foward with proper education in this area. Hence, falling gbagada for floor is inevitable. If your uni degree is a 4year course, and you are not from top notch Nigerian Uni, oga jejely go thru study. Yes it is more expensive, time consuming, but way better than living in this shithole called Nigeria(i.e if you have similar family background that has no connection in Nigeria, like me.) Moreover, you can never throw away the education you've received in Australia. You might see it as not useful today, you might be feeling its draining your money, but trust me one day it will come in handy. It all depends on what we want from life. |
There is no such occupation or designation named public health. Therefore you might not see the word "Public Health" on SOL. But public health qualifies you for a host of occupations that you'll find on SOL or CSOL mind securing PR through regions (CSOL) is way faster than Federal (SOL). You will see occupations such as Biostatistian, Environmental health officer and some other titles on the list. But my advise will be that you choose a school in NSW because NSW nominates more public health jobs than other regions. People with more knowledge can educate us better sha. |
Does teleperfomance accept naira in cash for visa application? |
hammed71:No. They accept PTE too. Pearson's test of English is also accepted in the UK, Canada, US. I'll advice you go PTE it is cheaper and easier. I did mine without any form preparation and i got an ielts equivalent of 7 allthrough the various categories. |
Solitin40:It was deducted 3 times. And the deductions was done based on the prevailing cbn rate or each day. The was deduction was done at 315, the second at 310, the last which was like 1500USD was done at 320. |
Just my input on the best way to do form A. I waited this long to share this info because i wanted to try it first. I got all my form A payment within a week of applying. Though it was deducted in 3 tranches. Sorry i cannot help with anybody's contact i just want to pass the info across but it is left to you to explore and utilize. The answer to form A is Zenith Bank + Zenith staff + Abuja branch. What i mean by this is that Zenith give preference to her staffs when it comes to form A. And CBN gives preference to Zenith when it comes to forex. So if you want your form A fixed with a week to two weeks: 1. Look for an Abuja branch Zenith bank staff 2. Fund his/her official account with the naira value of your tuition 3. Raise the payment invoice in his/her name 4. Send the invoice with your international passport and certificate 5. Then wait. It took mine 8days when i went through this process, if you apply as a normal customer it will not might, it will take you upto 6months. This is Nigeria, we always know someone that will know someone that works in Zenith that knows a colleague that works in Abuja. But i cannot help with that somebody. Note. They might not want to come out straight to you. But because lots of people has been selfless on the thread i decided to put in my widows mite too. Believe i got a very good exchange rate, infact lower than interbank rate. I am focusing on my visa application now. |
ellitexas:Just give them exactly what they asked you for. That is your docs without SOA and English. If your case officer decides on asking you for your SOA, then you can send it. They are alot guys that does not have strong SOA and are going for AL1 schs. If you start producing SOA when we were not asked to, you begin to jeopadize things for your fellow Nigerians. So my own CANDID advice is that you should HOLD ON on submitting SOA until asked by your CO. Don't start a trend that other peeps wont be able to sustain, dont turn into an unwritten rule for them. |
Solitin40:Please can you further explain the BVN Card thing. I have only heard about the number, but i have no prior info about a BVN card. Can you educate us more on how to get the card, and what it looks like. Thank you |
WestAfrican:I concur with you. Guys should always put up a fomidable SOP |
Ilias2:Believe me, u go wash shit for aged care, loads of shit. And lots of hard work that you'll be needing a strong back for. If you are not type of person, i'll suggest you look for work in disability. Less stressful, good pay and you get lots of hours to work. My 100 cowries |
WestAfrican:The likely-hood of a case officer requesting for SOA for an AL1 school is almost non-existent. The SOP which explains Genuine Temporary Entrant is all that matters for peeps who got admission into AL1 schs. Atleast going by what i have observed so far |
Also there is absolutely no need for the online brawl or name calling. I humbly sue for calm and dignifying words. The person you are raining online insults on, might be your next door neigbour, your cousin, your sisters husband, or your inlaw. There is a Yoruba proverb that says, "if throw stones into the market crowd, the stone might just hit your family member". Nairaland is a community with faceless citizens, but behind each moniker is a real person that deserves some respect, love and dignity. Anybody could be anybody. It is a small world. Let us try to accomdate eachother and stop Bruce leeing eachother online |

There is really no such thing as a credible source in this process. Believe me. My advice is that everybody should preoccupy their mind with other things while they keep a listening hear. The list will come one day, it must be sent at some point. But at which point? Nobody can answer that, except Mike Okiro and interior minister Dambazzau. Any news not emanating from their respective offices is totally speculative without a spine of fact. Trust me, the whole process is the best kept secret in PSC and Interior ministries, only the top trusted few echelons are in the know. NPF has little or no idea of what is also happening, so do not allow any officer fool you. I have two family friends one an AIG and the second a State Command Police Commissioner, both has no idea of what is happening within PSC as regards the recruitment. They both said even very few people knows whats up withing the PSC structure. So please be guided and prepare yourself for the worst news while you anticipate a good news. Forget time frame don't allow anxiety get the best of you. My 2 cowries |
Ethan45:You need to understand that he is saying because of his current state of mind. Because he has believed so much that he could'nt believe it or phatom not getting the visa. You should try and understand his state of mind when typing what it wrote. Rather to make him depressed, i think he needs to be encourage out that depression. We might be miles apart but a little kind word can go a long way. I was expecting you to even qoute that same bible to encourage him. But we often times opt for the holier than thou attitude, you did not do it right attitude(as if there is fomula) may remind you that job did everything right but yet evil befell him for a moment. His whole friends judged him that he must have sinned and all. So please let us not be quick to judge people but lets be quick to encourage them and show them how God loves them through showing them love in our own way. To mybrother that was denied, Sometimes things just happen, not because you are faithless or because God is deaf, or because its not yet time, things just happen. And we are not in a position query God or sanction him. Because we did not vote for him before he became God, he did not inherit the throne from anybody so nobody can call him to a public hearing to answer questions. He knows the why, and he is always willing to show the way. So don't give up on him yet. He still has the master plan and the key. Thank God sey God no be Man and thank God sey Man no be GOD if not we for don die. |
I think instead of castigating the young man's comment, we should rather encourage him. Even Jesus says whoever have no sin should cast the 1st stone(none did) Almost all of us are guilty of same thing. When we suffer disappointment or huge loss. Many of us ask the question if God listens at all, we may be down for a day or two, but with encouragement n love from friends and families we get back to thanking God again. We are all guilty of such just that we ask same questions silently. However, my brother a visa denial is just one of those disappoitments in life. Learn to manage your expectations better. We all lose some and win some, but winning or losing does not change how God feels about you. Trust me have be there alot of times, can be painful but the pain will pass and you will still trust God for something else later. Some will still fail and some will come through. Just remember that when there is life there is hope. I have seen some funny responses to your plight. You should all think of it this way, would u have needed to pray/fast for a canadian student visa if u were a US citizen or if u hold a german passport. But you would have prayed and fast just to enjoy Gods presence and fellowship. Lets get our priority right. My friends that we used to pray n fast together for 100k job back then in lagos, left for Australia n they are now changing jobs, sending money home without praying or fasting for it. Buh they still pray just to reverence God n fellowship. That goes to show that its not our fault, not because we sin(who cannot sin sef), not because we are praying enuf. Its just that God has given our leaders n humans powers to solve problems and we have failed in our tasks. Hence, we pray to meet light at home, we pray for jobs, we pray for miracle cars, house and other objects. Long epistle right?, to cut it short we pray for alot things we should'nt be praying for in africa simply because we, our leaders have failed God in not doing what God has put in their power to do. Check your prayer request booklet, and ask yourself if your counterpart in canada, australia, china, geneva etc will have any reason to pray such prayers. Visa should not have warranted prayer and fasting in the first place, if our country were to get things right in bilateral relation and if we were a great nation. Visa should have been about you just wanting to experience a place different from your home. But we live in Nigeria so we gats pray and fast for am. |
About graduates going for diploma raising redflag. What if you are going for technician diploma course that is only available in diploma? E.g Technician diploma in remotely operated vechicles ROV. This courses are taught in universities like that, they only come as diplomas. I just need clarity concerning this not applying for diploma issue. what if you want to totally abandon your line and study an entirely new line? You can't be a graduate of geology wanting to switch to marine sector and you apply to masters in nautical science without a background knowledge. The right thing to do is to apply for a diploma course in the marine sector first before working your way up. |
Manweysabi:Submitted mine on the 7th of August. Transcript received on 9th and i was not requested to upload transcript. I sincerely hope we hear from them next week, because sincerely the waiting is very gangstar. |

Manweysabi:migrate@vetassess.com.au. quote ur date of birth, name and ref number. |
kosplateau:Well in my own case, i email them to ask if they've received my transcript and they confirmed almost immediately. Pls people can you share your vetassess timeline experience? cos 12weeks far oooo. Did anybody get positive before 12weeks? |
corporateDan:Most people had or have no one there. I humbly suggest you go through this forum first. Then we discuss and educate each other better. You might even catch an insight nobody understood since and u end up being the one to put us all through. Cheers. |
Manweysabi:Correct. Uni has to send them transcript directly but u get the tracking number. though sch did not send my certificate because i graduated from Maiduguri, and i cant risk a journey there at the time of filing my application. They are yet to ask me for it, as my application status is still in progress. |
