Naijabad: There are jobs in tasmania, every nigerian i know have jobs. Only issues is, you might not get a job as early as you would in sydney, melbourne. I will advise people coming to tasmania come with a fair bit of savings. Do not isolate yourself from fellow nigerians. The nigerian community will help you with information about available opportunities. The nigerians are a special breed and we look after each other. Back to jobs, Tasmania is very unconventional, you more likely to get job adverts on newspaper and word of mouth, than on the internet. A lot employers will see our work ethics and request we recommend people to them. So there are jobs, tons of jobs, just come prepared to weather the storm for a little bit. There are also people that get jobs within the week they arrive. Tasmania is currently seeing a mass exodus of people from the mainland. People who have finished countless masters, people who have been jumoing from one visa to another. People who have become sentimentally attached to big cities on the mainland. These category of people are flooding tassie with the hope getting PR. So why not start your life here then. Why go and spend years on the mainland, only to pack your bag to come here to look for PR. 7 Likes 2 Shares |

Wonderboy1: can you please explain further what you meant by INTERVIEW FOR AUSTRALIAN STUDY VISA? To my best of knowledge, there is no such thing as interview. Rather, you are required to write Statement of Purpose. The Australian High Commission servicing Nigeria is situated in Pretoria, South Africa. So where is your interview going to hold? If i may ask, are you using an agent? if yes, what is the company name? so they can be named and shame for people to avoid them. |

age2richee: you apparently chose to coin your inverted interpretation to my response, any ways i will explain the logic behind what i wrote, i did not know it could be that elusive but i will break it down further. if you applied a balanced view, you will see i touched on quite a few different scenarios, with a consistent underlying message; LONG TERM. my question still remains if you come here for 2years Australian govt masters, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH IT WHEN SENT BACK HOME? it is a thought provoking question and not a discouraging one. in other words, what is your long term goal. what you want out of life should determine the offer you accept, no matter how good they seem. i mentioned my friend is doing permanent residency to relocate to Canada because of scholarship requirement, this friend of mine loves it here, but has to leave behind higher pay and lower taxes to move to canada. that is just 1 out of 7 people i know that are in the same boat. i totally understand the need to give people hope, but i think it is better to encourage people to rather do a proper risk analysis, planning, preparation and execution. hope does not cut it. if not Nigeria would have been the best Nation in the world. out of every 10people that has a Foreign education in Nigeria how many makes more than 300 thousand naira per month. ok let us up it to out every 100 people you know. Nigeria has changed, in the early 2000 all you needed in Nigeria was a foreign degree, and boom you land a good job. but now things are fierce, thousand of people trooping back into the country yearly with foreign masters, jostling for 100 positions. Mate get it straight, people make it every where. even in Sudan, syria, iraq and Borno state, people are there making it big, but the question at what rate, what is the ratio. if you are fimiliar with survey or research, you will understand that they base their findings on spot ratio sampling analysis. so if i say all Nigerians are black, doesnt really mean they are all black it means the majority. let us stop giving people hope based on the few. let us tell it as it is so people can face the mirror and reflect on what is really at stake. let us tell them to factor in the aftermath and the aftershock. what are your options after your study abroad? if it is permanent residency, how to do you intend to achieve that? which region can i best get it done? if i am coming to Nigeria, am i coming to be hoping for a job? or i have already secured the commitment of a few places? personally methink it better you come to Nigeria on your own terms. if i want to go to US or Canada after my scholarship, what will the policy look like by then? what skill will be shortage in those places when i finish? because if you go and study what is not a skill shortage list nobody will give you job in another country. They all must show the govt that they cannot fill the jobs locally before giving it out. in order not to engage in time wasting, or futile adventure, please plan, assess all risk factors and potentials. but if you only want to journey in hope, kudos to your pastors or imams, they have done a good job 10 Likes 1 Share |

odimbannamdi: And of what use will the masters be to you when you are back in Nigeria? are going back to job search or already has things properly set up on return. the major underlying reason for most Australian study, is to use it as a pathway to PR. depending on your plans, not all scholarships are good for you. i have a friend who came on scholarship, but now have to migrate after studies to Canada. because course wasnt on list. please, we have overflogged it before, let us look at skilled list, before making these decisions. consider your age by the time you finish your study, will you be eligible for maximum points for age? will you be able to pass english test equivalent to ielts 8? or 7? instead of being hasty and having to come here to do 1 year in one sch and jump to another, which will make pay 3years tuition instead of 2. location of school? the govt is trying to push people to the region, and nomination is easier in regions especially when you study there. most regions i know have special packages for people who studied in their region. please, yous should consider long term, a stitch in time saves nine. there are so many people here who has to do 2 masters because they chose the wrong course, a record number are seeking asylum because they spent years wasting money on wrong course, and they are just tired of spending another 2years of their life working just to pay tuition. some the cases have seen ended up in the negative. many are getting married quick quick as a result of not planning ahead, and have to do it just save thier visas. many finished studies in mel, syd and they now have to pack their bags to the region to start to spend one full year to meet regional requirement before they can apply for permanent residency. and so many has been sent back to Nigeria, not went back ooo, sent back. ensure your agents in nigeria do what you want, it is a service you already paid for, those agents are not up to date with happenings or with current Immigration debates in parliament, do your research and demand the very best service, like i said you all paid for the service. i was the one that educated my agent on AL1 schools 2017, they never heard about it prior to when i sat them down educated them and told them to get an AL1 school admission. you see, they are not smart as you may think. australia is far, too far to come ill prepared or lacking of information. australia is busy, too busy 2years flies like 2months, you will wake up one day and be surprised you already completed your education, then what next. not every good offer is good for you. paying 16000aud UTAS per semester is better than paying 12000 in western sydney Uni. required points for PR is 65 points. you will most likely hit just 60 points with western sydney uni, but with the regional points that comes with studying in UTAS you are guaranteed your 65 or 70points. look at it now in the interim western sydney seems ideal cos its cheaper but longterm you will end up spending more, relocating to regional, and wasting more time trying to look for an extra 5points. please people, do your research, dont think study alone, think long term. if you are already in the wrong course, you are admitted already, or granted visa with the wrong course already. please change course immediately after 1st semester, preferably change school to a regional area. it will be harder in beginning, but trust me overtime you will find your footing. School agents are free here, so do not be scared of approaching one and have them change your uni. please na with abeg i beg una. My advice goes mainly to most people coming with family, the single ones can still wiggle through some cracks, and also to the very strongly morally compassed single ones. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Good to hear heaps of people are getting their grants. I was quite active around this time last year. I remember our grant arrived on the 17 of january last year and arrive Oz 14th Fed. However, that is not why i am writing. I read some posts about using panadol, and men crying due to how hard they work here. So quickly want to advice on managing your expectations. You have 2 options upon arrival, namely; working hard or working smart. Working hard is when you have no tickets nor certification and you want to work. You will most likely get hard work. Bearing in mind that every employment will request your visa b4 offering you any job, secondly, because of studies you might be unable to work normal hours, so that leaves you with shift jobs to survive. 6am - 2pm shift, 4pm - midnight, 10pm to sunrise and so on. However, it becomes easier to get good paying jobs, bordering around $30 to 40 an hour if you obtain a forklift license(cost 400AUD) or HR or MR truck lincence( 1000plus AUD), Australia is a logistics country, anything logistics and warehouse sells. We import almost everything, so they have to be stored, moved and distributed. Anywhere along that supply chain has good money and constant work. Disability certificate(1200AUD duration one month), try and obtain a disability certificate as soon as you arrive, being a welfare based country, millions of people living with disability has to be catered for by law. You can earn btw 27 to 30 on weekdays, double that on weekends and maybe night shifts. It is the easiest job, so far you can stand the sight of cerebral palsy girl, or a boy with fown sydrome. Ofcourse, the job will include some manual handling. Catch is that you most likely will need an Australian drivers license to get into the door. In some cases the license alone gets you in, even without the cert course. Or get and RIW ticket, work railway and get paid 50/hr. Now, your question is, what do i do in the interim, well, go get a job at nandos, macca's or any fastfood while you work on obtaining any of those. If you are going to sydney, apply to UNrefugees as face2face fundraisers, they always look for new comers, cos old timers will do the job. Atleast you will fetch upkeep and rent till you are able to sort yourself. What am trying to pass across is simple, no relocation is easy, even if it is from Lagos to Kano, or from dopemu to shagamu it is always tedious in the begining. Plan ahead, research, stay positive, avoid fines 25 Likes 2 Shares |

But if you want to go through PR route, you can totally do it your self. If most people here are to come out straight, you will see most used an agent in securing admission. Guidlines and laws changes everyday, what u learnt yesterday might no longer be relevant today. CIT Canbera institute of Technology is quite cheap. You can get a nursing diploma packaged for 2years, about 6k or so per semester. But don't forget, you will contact them 1st, then they will refer you to an agent. Oga if you like welcome or unwelcome my advice. I will say the truth either ways. Atleast you will always remember someone you never met before adviced you based on facts and not wish. The right or wrong turn is your perogative. togetherness: |

Brother don't get it twisted. I am neither an agent or looking to advertise an agent. Trust me most people on this platform got their admissions through an agent. When you approach most Australian UNI they refer you back to an agent. Thing is you should make sure you are the one in control, you might actually have more information than the agent sef, so that aides you to get the best out them. If you want to do schools without agents, i can only count a few Tafe courses [ quote author=togetherness post=54806306] @least na advice u advice me. Thanks for the advice. The forum is actually do it yourself so your advice is not welcome [/quote] |

I think you should talk to the school or course advisor to have them package your course into a 2years course. Early childhood is actually very great and a top seller any time any day. But without a 2year course, you wont be eligible for post study visa. Which might pose some discomfort in the future, you will probably have to be looking for further studies after the 1.5years. Battling with bridging visa and all. Talk to them about it. perfectme: |

damien83: If you already have a positive assessment for your Bsc degree, then may i ask you what is keeping you from submitting your EOI for permanent resisdency already? I believe you can get more points from PTE english test or by going through 190 regional sponsorship. To your question, i sincerely do not have an expert opinion on that. So my self thought answers might not be of much help. |
Travel / Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by mjlbabajide(m): 9:45am On Jan 21, 2017 |
damien83: Well, if you look through DIBP and assessing body websites, they only mention masters, bsc(uni degree), diploma, or vocational. All these can only be assessed independently and not combined into one. My source is my experience. Which is not all Nigerian universities gets positive assessment for 4year course. So you might need to find if your uni is one of such schools or not. But like some people with different assessment experince have said, this issue differs from one assessing authority to another. Therefor i conclude by saying you might want to let us know your course of study, university attended and assessing body. It is possible we find someone who scaled through or did not scale through with your exact situation |

RMIT is a an assessment level 1 uni so their students are usually exempt from providing English test or bank statement. However, case officers reserve the right to request more document. From my opinion, i think a weak statement of purpose will most definately make your case officer request bank statement. So i'll advice you put up a strong SOP for you and ur wife. 2 Likes |
