The first group of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) participants were official discharged on Sunday 30TH JUNE 1974 at a special ceremony at Zaria Race Course in Nigeria.

A message from the then Nigerian Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, was read by the Governor. General Gowon praised the participants as "worthy sons of Nigeria" who had brought "a new revolution in the service of young people" to their country.
One of the objectives of the NYSC scheme is to mobilise labour, and the General said that the markets, local council buildings, roads and bridges they had built would stand as a lasting monument to their dedication and selfless service. The students, who pioneered the scheme, were invited to make an appraisal of the operation and to set out any suggestions they had for improving it in the future.

Married Female NYSC Corps Member Caught Having Sex with Colleague Inside Gutter, Blames Cold Weather

Two members of the National Youth Service Corps have been caught pants down bonking inside a gutter at the Plateau State NYSC orientation camp.

A mild drama played out at the Plateau State orientation camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the Mangu area of the state as two newly sworn-in corps members were reportedly caught having s*x inside a gutter.
The randy corps members are both among the many young graduates that were recently sworn in for the Batch A Stream 1 for the compulsory one year national service.
According to multiple online reports, the incident happened in the early hours of Tuesday, May 30, 2017 when some camp soldiers on parade walked in on the duo in the middle of a heated s*x escapade.
The man blamed the devil for pushing him into the act while the woman who is reportedly married blamed the cold weather of the state for pushing her into the act.

The woman whose identity was not immediately disclosed, stated that she finds it difficult to stay away from s*x for too long.
By the standards of the NYSC body, the erring corps members have been dismissed from the orientation camp.

Minister of state for Petroleum Resources Dr. Ibe Kachikwu said he will quit from the government if he fails to deliver on the promise to end fuel importation in Nigeria by 2019.

Speaking in an interview on BBC World Service programme, HardTalk, on Monday, Kachikwu vowed he would deliver on the refineries and that he was committed to also deliver a future for oil that makes sense for Nigeria.

Asked by the programme anchor when Nigeria was going to be self-sufficient in terms of refining petroleum, the following conversation ensued:

Kachikwu: I have stated it, 2019 is the target.

BBC: You are running out of time because you know that we are near now.

Kachikwu: Don’t worry; I put the date, I will work it.

BBC: And if you don’t achieve it, you will walk (away)?

Kachikwu: Yes! Of course that is the reason why you are in government.

The minister said since he took office one-and-half year ago, he has been able to get the refineries back to begin to produce 7 million litres of petroleum product compared to zero previously.

“I have delivered on everything since I came to office. First, I took NNPC and moved them into a profit making organization first time in history and reshaped the organization. I removed cash call deficit of over $6bn, negotiated it. Everything that I have promised since coming into office, I have delivered. I will deliver on the refineries and I am committed to that and I will also deliver a future for oil that makes sense for Nigeria,” he said.
