The constitution says that we are a secular society that does not allow religion influence the government. Section 101 of the Nigerian Constitution provides: “The Government of the Federation or of a State shall not adopt any religion as State Religion.”

This is supported by Section 10 of The 1999 Constitution: “It may be argued in the light of this provision that religious symbols (indigenous or received) have no place on public lands, national edifices, currency, flag, coat of arms, anthem, pledge and other national symbols. By this section, Nigeria is declared to be a secular state and therefore cannot join any organization that has a religious connotation’’.

Christianity EtcPope Prays For Nigerian Homeless Man Found Dead Near St. Peter’s by modaink333(op): 10:08pm On Jan 24, 2021
Pope Francis prays for a homeless man from Nigeria who died just a few meters from St. Peter’s Square, and reminds journalists of their task to give first-hand witness to the truth.

After praying the Angelus on Sunday, Pope Francis paused for a moment to pray for Edwin, a Nigerian homeless man left to die alone on a cold Roman night.

“On 20 January, just a few meters from St. Peter’s Square, a Nigerian homeless man named Edwin was found dead from the cold,” said the Pope. “His plight is similar to that of many other homeless people who have died recently in Rome under the same dramatic circumstances.”

The Pope then invited everyone to pray for Edwin, and paused for a few seconds in prayer.

He said 46-year-old Edwin was ignored by all.

“He was abandoned, by us as well,” said Pope Francis. “Let us pray for him.”

The Pope then recalled a story from the papacy of St. Gregory the Great. When he witnessed the death of a beggar in the cold, the 6th century Pope ordered that all Masses be suspended for a whole day, “because it was as Good Friday.”

Pope Francis also recalled that Sunday is the feast of St. Francis de Sales, patron saint of journalists.

He referred to his message for World Communications Day 2021, which was released on Saturday, under the title “Come and See”.

He said it is an invitation for everyone to communicate by meeting others where and as they are.

“I exhort all journalists and communicators to go and see, even there were no one wants to go, and to witness to the truth,” he said.

Lies from the pit of hell.

She don't because Catholic Church especially in Nigeria is strongly against Feminist and Feminism.
....look at efulefu saying when she finds a progressive Catholic Church outside the country, she will attend...
Like the basilica in Rome and France I guess...

So the progressive Catholic Churches just sprang out from the tin air i guess?

Please, who is supplying weed for this feminist?

In Catholic, It's a tradition for "communicants" not all attendees to fast before mass due to the reception of the Holy Eucharistic, except for the sick and elderly. Thats what this feminist see as a problem...shes just a pergan in disguise, she absolutely knows nothing about the faith, norms and tradition of the Catholic Church. even if am not to partake in the reception of the Holy Eucharistic, I find it difficult to eat before going to mass.

Good morning nairalanders.
The few research I made in regards to the price about changing of birth date in an international passport got me worried. Most were saying 250k,180k, 150k, which I think is too much.

Dear nairalanders, is it possible to do a fresh passport, or does it mean am left with the Only option of those outrageous prices?
Immigration officers in the house, please I need your opinion.

Lalasticlala please help me move this to FP.
Thank you

SportsBallon D'or 2020 Cancelled Due To Coronavirus Pandemic Disrupting Season by modaink333(op): 1:39pm On Jul 20, 2020
France Football have confirmed there will be no Ballon d'Or awarded in 2020 as "all the conditions are not met" to host the ceremony and the impact the coronavirus pandemic has had on the season. The award was first held in 1956 with Stanley Matthews being the first player to win the prestigious award.

France Football add that it would be impossible to deem a winner fairly, especially when some leagues have been cut short due to Covid-19.

Also, it’s added with changes to competitions like the Champions League, of which the remaining fixtures will be played in a single-match format and behind-closed-doors on neutral ground in Lisbon, makes it unrealistic to hand out the award given things have changed so much from the norm.

Here’s one particular quite from the announcement: “Protecting the credibility and legitimacy of such an award also means ensuring its flawlessness over time.”

Lionel Messi would have be a shoe-in to clinch the award for the 7th time in his career, the Barcelona superstar has been phenomenal this season with a staggering 30 goals and 26 assists.

Other high-profile superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Roberto Lewandowski would’ve firmly been in the running after sensational campaigns.

SportsOfficial, The UEFA Champions League To Resume On 7th August by modaink333(op): 3:10pm On Jun 17, 2020
The 2019/20 UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will be played as a straight knockout tournament in Lisbon, Portugal in August. All these ties will be single-leg fixtures.

A decision is pending on whether the four remaining round of 16 second legs will take place at the home team’s stadium or in Portugal.

The quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will be split between Benfica's Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica and Sporting CP's Estádio José Alvalade. The Estádio do Dragão in Porto and the Estádio D. Afonso Henriques in Guimarães will host the four outstanding round of 16 second legs if required.

The 2019/20 UEFA Champions League has been on hold since Wednesday 11 March due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The revised schedule to conclude this season's competition was confirmed following Wednesday's UEFA Executive Committee meeting.

2019/20 UEFA Champions League schedule
7-8 August: Round of 16 second legs (venues to be confirmed)
12-15 August: Quarter-finals (Lisbon)
18-19 August: Semi-finals (Lisbon)
23 August: Final (Lisbon)

All fixtures will kick off at 21:00 CET. The date for the quarter-final and semi-final draws will be communicated in due course; the exact match schedule will then follow.

Upcoming UEFA Champions League finals
The 2019/20 final was due to be held at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul which will now instead stage the 2020/21 showpiece. The three subsequent final venues have also agreed to host a year later than originally planned.

2020: Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica or Estádio José Alvalade, Lisbon, Portugal
2021: Atatürk Olympic Stadium, Istanbul, Turkey
2022: Saint Petersburg Stadium, St Petersburg, Russia
2023: Football Arena Munich, Munich, Germany
2024: Wembley Stadium, London, England

UEFA medical protocol and matches behind closed doors
The key principles of the UEFA medical protocol were also approved on Wednesday, and detailed guidelines will now be finalised over the next few weeks to ensure that a thorough sanitary plan be put in place to protect the health of all participants to UEFA matches when the competitions resume.

UEFA will be regularly assessing the situation across the continent and will liaise with local authorities to see when spectators could gradually return.

Key amendments to the 2019/20 club competitions’ regulations
Teams will be allowed to register three new players on their List A for the remainder of the 2019/20 season, provided such players were already registered and eligible for the club since the last registration deadline (3 February 2020 for the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League). List A will still only be able to contain a maximum of 25 players. It will not be possible for clubs to register newly-transferred players.

Five substitutions will be allowed in all the remaining matches in season 2019/20, in accordance with the temporary change to the Laws of the Game, whereas the number of substitutions for season 2020/21 will remain at three.

Next season
The access list for the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League has not been affected by the new calendar.

The deadline for national associations to enter teams to the competitions will be 3 August for the UEFA Champions League.

The UEFA Executive Committee also approved a revised calendar for the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League.

State of play
Half of the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League round of 16 ties have already concluded, with Paris, Atlético, Leipzig and Atalanta through to the quarter-finals. The following round of 16 second legs are yet to be played:
