@ Elder Gbawe,

I get your points & they are well thought out, but at the same time, the other side argue the way it suits them simply because that is their reality....

I am always balanced in my opinions because i LIVE here.. i see , know & feel the polity unlike when people base their opinions on what they read in blogs & online media platforms, who are known for Hyberbolic & gross EXAGGERATION...

When they then do a comparison of what obtains in their climes, they tend to posit some opinions without being fully aware of the limitations & peculiarity of different societies , case in point; Debt burden & mass retrenchment of Civil servants.... smiley

As for why this thread is on life support, some outsider folks kept reporting posters (despite being guilty of same offences on their own NUMEROUS threads ) & the back & forth movement of the thread...

Factor in clash of wills, Godzilla proportion egos & differing ulterior motives, the thread went south..

Mo wa pa o, Aunty Modath. Mo lero pe you're doing great too!

You know, this thread's the only reason I've been logging on to Nairaland for the past 3 weeks or thereabout. It actually ebbed away my tribalistic and trouble-cum-ban-causing tendencies as I seldom visit other threads.

Now, some "saintly" people think we aren't doing it well. [i]O ga fun won sha

Damita Jo? grin Not yet. I've given up on finding her on NL, though.
That is the crux of the matter, the calming effect of this thread is hurting the site's bottomline so action had to be taken.... We live in a CAPITALIST world, HONOUR & RESPECT can go hang !! cheesy

Mynd44, Why are you editing my post huh cheesy cheesy

You are finding it hard to ban my moniker cos i don't break the rules, so you'd prefer to scare me off abi? wink

I am still within my rights to reiterate my opinion that "It isin black folks to hurt one another" #Fact, #Nodebate

Black folks sold their kinsmen into SLAVERY to whitemen, so i don't judge new generation black folks, it is in the blood..

P.S... Analysts on AIT picked points from this thread to discuss on Kaakaki on "VIABILITY OF STATES"...

That is a vindication that we didn't waste over 30 days to make our voices heard.. smiley

many royal fathers are or were highly educated, it's not as rare as you're making it seem.

as per wife snatching, etc, that is in the same boat as the story being peddled about out of wedlock children being the norm in Yoruba culture.
I make it a point of duty to always walk away from issues that can cause strife but you know quite well that you have twisted my words but for what purpose & intent i do not understand sad.....

It is not in the yoruba to celebrate pregnancy out of wedlock but i (& i'm sure 90%of yoruba people can attest to this fact) have not known one teenage pregnant girl, unmarried single grown lady, or a 2nd wife to be lampooned or thrown out into the streets...

I have spoken to people from a tribe who claim they'd prefer feticide is ok to add to fornication & they really don't care what happens to the child & the mom as long as no one knows about it, or do you think the baby selling thing doesn't have a root cause huh..

Take a random census & do a comparative analysis of how many illiterate artisans in the SW really went through the whole nine yards of marriage.... They have their women & their children & they are living their life as they deem fit, who then has the self abrogated right to take them to task for it huh?!!!

For clarity sake ONLY (don't owe no one any explanation) I will reiterate this : Yoruba people have deep cultural values & norms who don't make it a NORM to have out of wedlock children, but when people do, they are not treated as PARIAHS like folks who claim to be of the race closest to JESUS but whose ways of life has no resemblance to that..

BTW, Some beautiful pic of colourful yoruba engagement to feast the eyes on & help cure some craziness & petty mindedness. ..

Who're the masses?

The folks who ought to be the masses are the ones scrounging for crumbs everywhere and the useful idiots who think flowery words and window-dressing is leadership.

Both the leaders and followers in Nigeria are utter failures. You can't even separate the two.
EoD, No more no less....I'm going to give two examples to illustrate my position that both the leaders & the led deserve each other...

1. I have an aunt who has virtually abandoned her real biz to engage in "area godmother politics", her definition of a "good" leader is how much the said politician is ready to cough up to maintain their loyalty...

She's in her 50's & been in politics since forever, only changes allegiance as belle face, once i was pushed to ask her "infrastructures & good governance nko", she just looked @ me & smiled like i was a mumu & asked if i think Nigeria can ever be great again , said the country is spoilt beyond repair & each man is for himself...

I was hurt beyond words that day & you know why? She & her cohorts are the delegates that choose candidates in primaries... cry

2.A family friend is an engineer in an IOC/NNPC JV, said there was a community development scheme that the IOC was to undertake, refurbishment of classrooms & the small health centre in the community.... He said the project didn't see light of day cos the elders were distinctly split into two groups

Group A, wanted the company to pay them royalty before embarking on a project that is meant to benefit their own community while Group B claimed their own children were no longer of elementary school age & the funds for the said project should be shared to everyone to solve other needs....

He said the oyinbo men just kept asking the naija guys if there is mass insanity that the community need to be tested for cos they just don't get the kind of mentality that inhibits personal progress & development....

I'm disappointed with the slow progress of this admin but I'm still holding on to hope, & on the travel thing, IT IA UNFAIR the position people have taken, it is not like he is on vacation in the carribeans...

Shy, do an analysis of the places he had been to in recent days, they are all important, Gas exporting countries in Iran, Chogm in Malta, Climate change in france have one impact or the other on our policies ..

I believe the new year will come with new things...

90% of the people complaining actually are praying for the failure of the nation to mock the state of the nation...

Crude oil as at yesterday was 44.50$ P.B, no matter what we say or postulate, this nation is a mono exporting one & to diversify won't happen in 6mths, even 12 months is too soon!!!

The lagoon is not a restriction. It is in fact, an asset. But many governors in Lagos have not harnessed its potentials appropriately. Fashola did a little bit, by trying to resuscitate water transport in the state, but what has been done so far, is only a tip of the iceberg.

Cities like Venice, Amsterdam etc., have done a lot to harness the potentials of their waterways. With the kind of funds Lagos has raised through the bond market in the previous years, it should have done a whole lot more to harness the potential of its waterways. undecided
Venice & Amaterdam are old old cities that developed their waterways system before the advent of motor cars & only built on from that, so you are comparing apples & oranges & BTW black people and water don't mix well..

It is only those whose circumstances of birth put them right in the midst of water that evolved to being one with it, the ilajes, ijaws etc....

The reason many black people died in '05 hurricane katrina was cos folks couldn't swim..

Just observe boko haram, they started by shooting christians and blasting churches and when that did not make christians rise up in arms against muslims, they shifted ground and began to shoot muslims and blast mosques. The first time a bomb was bombed in Kano could have started a religious war. The muslims were already marching to sabon gari to wipe out the christians if not that one of the shooters was caught and he was clearly a muslim.

The north is of particular concern here because they keep on having so many children they have no plans for. The north has a vast expendable army of illiterate almajiris littering the region. These are the same jobless youths that are waiting for the slightest opportunity like a cartoon in Denmark to descend on Christians.

As for this IPOB issue, they likely will go ahead with the protest in Lagos and it is up to the Yorubas to either tactfully ignore them or attack them which will lead to massive carnage.

I only pray the CIA have not already positioned the guys that would shoot and kill some protesters and those that would rush to attack them and other Igbos in Lagos. I tell you the end of Nigeria can start in Lagos.

I love intelligent women. smiley

You know, was watching a History documentary on the CIA and her covert ops and was marvelled at what those guys could do to a country, her government and her people using just a few million dollars. Saw declassified documents regarding the Iran Contra, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Vietnam War, Pearl Harbour incident, the Cold War, and heard accounts from retired operatives- I grew goose bumps honestly!

Those guys wouldn't bat an eye-lid financing even ISIS to get what they want- it doesn't matter the number of lives that would be lost in the process. The words morality and humanity don't exist in their lexicon.

A lot of sinister plots are being set in motion behind the scenes using some patsies and the gullible "citizens" are doing exactly what is expected of them- like candidates of MK Ultra on LSD. I'm beginning to think Kanu is a CIA patsy. What I'm yet to understand is what the US stands to gain from destabilising Nigeria, and by implication, West Africa.

It is such a pity we don't have a competent spy agency to engage these guys who seem hell bent on bringing the country to her knees. Indeed, protesting in Lagos would present them with the much needed spark to ignite the sort after inferno.

Now it is up to the Lagos boys and State security to observe restraint in how the deal with the situation should those gullible "expendable pawns" go ahead with their plans- this is reminiscent of the Jega-Orubebe saga- the response of their host would determine a lot in the days ahead.
Happy sunday to you too... smiley

One conspiracy theory i propounded in my head & will always hold on dearly to is that the west need third world countries to be underdeveloped, in chaos & in perpetual poverty in order to.....

1. Get cheap labour for their industries & their citizens..

2. Sell arms & ammunitions...

3. Get ready market for the produces & products ....

Thereby enriching themselves & maintaining their place as superpowers.. sad
