PoliticsGrant Amnesty To Repentant Looters- SAN by moderate99(op): 12:21am On Apr 13, 2016
A former Military Administrator of Bauchi and Osun states, Col. Theophilus Bamigboye (retd.); a Senior Advocate  of Nigeria, Mallam Yusuf Ali; and  the Bishop of the Diocese of Kwara, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Dr. Olusegun Adeyemi, on Sunday urged President Muhammadu Buhari and the anti-graft agencies to ensure that the anti-corruption war was not selective.

They also advised him not to spare any corrupt person in the country, irrespective of the person’s political affiliation or status.

PoliticsMy Regret After The Death Of Ghadaaf-Obama by moderate99(op): 11:53pm On Apr 12, 2016
Barack Obama says the biggest mistake of his presidency was the lack of planning for the aftermath of the fall of late Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi, with the country spiraling into chaos and grappling with violent extremists.

Reflecting on his legacy in a Fox News interview aired Sunday, Obama said his “worst mistake” was “probably failing to plan for the day after what I think was the right thing to do in intervening in Libya.”

Last month, Obama made a searing critique of British Prime Minister David Cameron and former French leader Nicolas Sarkozy for their roles in the bombing campaign they led in Libya.

Cameron became “distracted” and Sarkozy wanted to promote his country during the 2011 NATO-led military intervention, Obama said in an interview with The Atlantic magazine.

Since the downfall of Kadhafi, who was killed in a popular uprising, Libya descended into near-anarchy, ruled by rival militias vying for power while the Islamic State group has gained influence in the country.

The head of a UN-backed unity government arrived earlier this month in Tripoli to begin garnering support for his government.

Obama also reflected on some of the best moments of his tenure as president — due to end in January — in the Fox News interview.

“Saving the economy from a great depression” was his biggest accomplishment, he said.

As for the best day in the White House?

“The day that we passed health care reform,” Obama said.

“We sat out on the Truman Balcony with all the staff that had worked so hard on it and I knew what it would mean for the families that I’d met who didn’t have health care.”

The president said his worst day in the White House was when he traveled to Newtown, Connecticut, after a gunman shot 20 young children and six adult staff members at an elementary school in December 2012.

PoliticsWhat I Agreed With Chinese President-Buhari by moderate99(op): 5:53pm On Apr 12, 2016
President Muhammadu Buhari has stated that the trade relationship between Nigeria and China is grossly in favor of the Chinese. According to him the Nigerian and Chinese business communities should work harder to reduce the trade imbalance between both countries.

"Last year during our meeting in New York, President Xi Jinping and I agreed to explore ways of practical cooperation in trade, investment, finance, human resources, agriculture and fishing.

"We also agreed to strengthen industrial capacity cooperation in the manufacture of cars, household appliances, construction materials, textiles, food processing, and others.

"This is in line with our government's focus on import substitution through the creation of a diversified and inclusive economy that will meet most of our consumption needs.

"Already, our Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment is working on projects and programmes that will correct the wrongs of the past and enhance the ease of doing business in Nigeria.

"The ministry's efforts will be complemented by investment tax incentive programmes, public sector reform initiatives as well as our zero tolerance stance on corruption.

"We also have an aggressive but realistic infrastructure development programme that forms the backbone of our economic diversification policy. We are embarking on major power, road, rail, seaport and airport development programmes that will enhance the competitiveness of manufacturing businesses in Nigeria.

"The future is bright and I am very confident that our policies will make Nigeria the investment destination of your choice," President Buhari told the Chinese investors," he said.

It looks recently renovated. However what I don't get is why they keep using paint colours which they know will get dirty easily. Why?? Those buildings will return to the nasty mess they were in a few months. A lcombination of bricks and concrete should have been used;this is a school and high traffic setting.
