I love Lemar as much as the next man but he is not Coutinho. Coutinho's only undoing is his injury record which can be said of Modric as well.

We cannot rebuild anything to compete with RM. We need finished products which Phillipe is. Someone to command some attention from opposing teams in a way that Leo gets separation and freedom.

Deulofeu and co could clearly not do it against RM in the King's Cup games. Messi got all the attention and was easily fouled or dispossessed. Iniesta could not waltz past Kroos or Case like he would have done 7 years ago and we simply had no midfield.

What Coutinho lacks in intelligent passes he makes up for with his dribbling skill, pace and shot-taking. Coutinho, to me, has a higher ceiling than Isco. I watched him in Inter and thought he looked like their best player in some games inspite of his young age.

Coutinho can dribble past players quickly and with his presence, Messi would have freedom to cause havoc. Lemar is even left footed and I doubt he would be able to dispossess Dembele so what is the point?
