A major crack surfaced in the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People [MOSOP] on Friday following the declaration of the Republic of Ogoni by a faction of the movement.


The playwright and poet, Ken Saro-Wiwa, who was hanged by the regime of late General Sani Abacha, founded MOSOP, which has consistently campaigned against the environmental degradation of Ogoniland by oil companies.
The group loyal to the successor of the Saro-Wiwa, Ledum Mitee disowned the declaration made by a factional leader, Dr. Goodluck Diigbo on Thursday to mark the Ogoni Day.

The Mitee group described as misleading, the declaration of a republic as not representative of the will of Ogoni people and MOSOP

The police yesterday made a shocking and bizarre discovery of human parts in a residence at Festac Town in Lagos State when it raided a building believed to be occupied by ritualists.

Police Sources said they were alerted by neighbors who were suspicious of activities going-on in the building located at House No. 6, B Close, Third Avenue Festac which prompted them to storm the building around 12 noon, and searched the entire place leading to the discovery of some fresh human parts inside a bathtub and a room used as a shrine.

The police said that several human parts such as fresh human head, hand, limbs, decomposing head and female breasts were also discovered.

Jim Iyke's parents have rescued him from a Habiba Abubakar who wanted him jailed for allegedly conning her out of N15million.

Jim Iyke’s parents had gone to beg Habiba to let the case get settled out of court. And Habiba withdrew the case in a show of respect to Jim’s parents.

Ghana's President Prof John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills, who was born on July 21, 1944 (68 years old) is Dead.

The Ghanaian minister of information, Fritz Baffour, confirmed the president's death in a phone interview with VOA.

Questions about the President’s health had been swirling for almost a year. Regarding his frequent visits to U.S. hospitals.

President Mills replied:
‘’I am going for a medical checkup. I go there to ensure everything is okay. I am going to see my doctors for some examination then I will come back and continue my work of building a Better Ghana.’’
The official Ghana News Agency, quoting a statement from the office of the presidency, reports that Mills death occurred on Tuesday at the 37 Military hospital in the Capital, Accra.

The Chairman of House of Representatives Committee on Public Petition , Rep. Uzo Azubike, made this known at the opening of the public hearing in Abuja on Wednesday on the petition filed by Lead City University, Ibadan.

Azubike said that the committee had been assured on record that suspension of the licences of the six universities whether competent or not would not affect the continuation of the academic programmes in the institutions.
