Famzer: [s]He is holding the power in leadership in trust on behalf of the Yoruba so that someone is held accountable for every action taken by the political leadership of the Yoruba. That's why you will see that a Gov. Fayose sees no qualms in recognizing Asiwaju's place as his leader despite being in a different political party and how the Yoruba elite, across political divide quickly heeded his call to save the Yoruba race from the embarrassment the punishment of Gov. Aregbesola with a defeat would have caused the Yoruba if Sen. Adeleke is elected with his very poor education(he didn't even pass ordinary Level WAEC and wants to lead the Yoruba parents who can spend their last Kobo and go hungry to get their children educated)
He must regularly consult and take the inputs from the Kabiyesis, Chiefs,Yoruba Intelligentsia, Business community( formal and informal market leaders), the influencers, traditional power blocs like the ogbonis, Ifa priests, alumni groups, social clubs, Parapos, OPC, Agbekoya etc), Professional groups,Armed forces(retired and serving) Civil servants,Religious leaders, Youth/Women groups and Yoruba in the diaspora.
This is the hallmark of all successful races. A person represents the abstract form of power and holds it in trust for the collective while the led continue to pray for him/her to be a wise and successful leader. That is why the Bible counsels Christians to pray for their leaders. Interestingly,Asiwaju earned the leadership role he's occupying and has been seen as a rallying point for the Yoruba interest that is politically aligned with national interest.
In the Yoruba culture, the led are very powerful and can serve severe punishment on any leader that strays from his allegiance to their courses. That's why the June 12 struggle consumed some leaders and birthed new leaders.
The Yoruba society is very dynamic and if you are a leader, you really have to be very careful because one costly political blunder can bring a death knell to your political career. I believe very soon, the society of the other tribes will soon realise that in every struggle, you need a rallying central figure. In the Yoruba culture, anytime anything goes wrong,in family, village, association, churches, name it, they always blame the leadership first by asking "ko si olori lagan ni?"( Is there no leader in the place?[/s]) Trash! Tinubu is no Yoruba leader!! How much in cash and kind does Buhari settle his millions of die-hard followers in northern Nigeria for them to love and follow him sheepishly? Go figure!!! |

Honestly, I can't wish and support Sanwo Olu to emerge as governor. There is still a war to be won... Lagos must be free from Tinubu anyhow. I just imagine how Ambode will be coerced/forced to campaign for Sanwo Olu. If Ambode can stand his ground and refuse to, PDP will win easily. |

You needed to be in my shoes. His current travails brought the ugly incidence back to my memory as I had already forgotten it. |

Niorte: Fallacy of hasty generalisation. How can someone who did not know you snub you? Did you wave to him and expect a wave back? Did you know what mood he was?
You can only snub someone who you know but don't want to relate with or someone who tries to get your attention.
Someone was inside his car and you said he snub you. Please go get a life. As a VIP, you should expect that many people you don't know will know you and want to associate with you. You need to be open minded and ready to hide your emotions at every point in time. |

Our elected officials are horribly unconnected with the people.
They don’t seem to care at all, except probably when election approaches
Even then they will rather use thugs and violence and rigging.
Democracy understood as “EQUALITY, FRATERNITY, LIBERTY” FOR ALL is still elusive
We have merely created CLASSES, RULING CLASSES, POLITICAL GODFATHERS KINGMAKERS,
what have you and the helpless, powerless spectator citizens——-HORRORS IN THE NAME OF Democracy.
One day , hopefully the DIGNITY of every Nigerian will be strongly affirmed and honored. Thank you my brother |

maestroferdi: See this one o...
You are lucky some security orderlies didn't beat and frog-match you for daring to get too close for comfort to a governor...
You must have a twisted sense of self-importance to imagine that a man overseeing the running of a state of over 18 million people will stop his itinerary to dobale at your feet.
I was once at close quarters to Fashola in 2015 during the campaign season. I minded my business... and made out that I was too intelligent to make a fuss out of it... He was in a moving vehicle. I couldn't have gotten close. The pathetic snobbish look and reaction he gave me when we saw each other was what got me. |

Have you ever heard someone someone said they were greeting you yesterday and you will be like 'I didn't see you at all' while they insisted you were looking at them at even smiled.
This piece of writing will never have come out if Ambode clinched the ticket. Everyone associate with success but are quick to dismiss failures. Wrong. We saw each other. He just turned his face and boned while at it. It was a well planned snub that comes naturally. I remembered this incident at the inception of his travails. I had sincerely wished and hoped he will sail through. Unfortunately, he didn't. |

Politics › My Personal Experience With Governor Ambode by ModsareChevres(op): 5:59pm On Oct 03, 2018 |
I know many people will be shocked to read this based on my staunch support for Ambode in the just concluded Lagos APC primary. I supported Governor Ambode majorly for 3 reasons. The first being my sincere desire to see Lagos become free from the shackles of godfatherism. If Tinubu were in Ambode's shoes, I would have supported him! The second is performance. All the same, let me share my personal experience with Governor Ambode. It was in 2016. I was walking along Obafemi Awolowo way towards Allen junction (Ikeja, Lagos) when I heard a convoy approaching. Behold, it was my beloved Governor Ambode. I was excited. Not that I wanted any favour from him. I just was just happy to see him in person even if it were for just a moment. Please pardon me, I like seeing VIPs in person even if I don't talk to or meet them. I have once seen Tinubu in person. I was happy to though I wasn't close enough to greet him. The day I saw Pastor Tunde Bakare, I approached and greeted him after his orderly cleared me and he responded warmly. The list is long... So I decided I was going to deliberately look in his (Governor Ambode's) direction as soon as the very vehicle he is seated in, a Range Rover, passes by me. I targeted him. Then the moment came! His Range Rover passed. He was seated in the vehicle. I looked in his direction. He looked at me and in a split second took off his face in an extremely snobbish manner that says 'I don't give a damn about you. Get lost!' I wasn't expecting him to stop and greet me or even wave. But I wasn't expecting the awful snub either. Wow. I was downcast. But I took it like a man. Of course, I didn't have a choice. So it's possible Governor Ambode is a very proud person. This is my first time of sharing this story on and offline. All in all, I still wanted Governor Ambode to have a second term. I didn't and don't begrudge him, still. It's unfortunate many Lagosians can't be like me. They just couldn't forgive him. A battle may have been lost. But there is still a war to be won. And it's not about Ambode. It's about the ultimate freedom of Lagos. |
