smellingmenses:Nobody cares. Stop this your inferiority complex, the white man is seated at the front. I really don't care about monarchy but this was how the Oba Of Benin was welcomed by other kings despite coming late. Kings are not made, they are born kings! https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1918885971481269&id=100000796530751&_rdr |

Christistruth00:And Ling Roth made reference to EKALADERAN in Great Benin: Its Customs, Art and Horrors published in 1903, so?

Christistruth00:The Benin history of EKALADARAN by far older than was shared by Oba Erediauwa. It only took him that publication to open Yoruba's eyes to the Benin history which Yoruba peoples never knew |
Christistruth00:And the arrangement is supposed to mean what? The Oba of Benin's involvement in that conference was merely instigated by the colonial masters and Awolowo as a political front, like they did with the north (assuming you read what you posted). No such meetings ever happened before 1937. |
"I therefore stand before you today as the 40th Oba of Benin A direct descendant of Oromiyan, the son of Oduduwa who the Benin people of that era knew as Ekharaderan, their self exiled Prince who later became ruler in IIe Ife, the Benin people recognized Oduduwa and his origin but it is not in our place to force this recognition on others outside our boundaries. The history of the world, is a shared one and they will certainly be unexpected connections in future. This is a time for unity and not divisiveness’. A time for mutual respect, recognizing that our wholeness as equals is so much more than some of our past. - OBA OF BENIN

Only 91 students were deemed to have passed out of 474 students who took the exam A total of 206 law students are to repeat the entire course after failing the final Bar exams at the Ghana School of Law. Another 177 students have been referred in one or two papers, Myjoyonline.com has learnt. Out of 474 students who sat for the 2017-2018 final exams, only 91 students were deemed to have passed and will be called to the Bar. The mass failure by the students comes at a time Parliament is seeking to legalize the entrance exams and interview processes instituted as part of the admission procedures into the Ghana School of Law. The General Legal Council, the body that oversees legal education and profession in Ghana has mounted a vehement defence for the maintenance of entrance exams. It argues the exams and interviews are to ensure higher standards in legal education. But Chief crusader against the entrance exams Prof Kwaku Asare insists the entrance exams and interviews at the Ghana School of Law are illegal. At the moment, there is an LI in Parliament currently going through a mandatory 21-day period before it will mature into law. If members of the House are unable to raise two-thirds majority to kick against the LI it will automatically mature into law. Meanwhile, critics of the entrance exams say the mass failure at the Bar exams is just one example of why the status quo must be abolished. "The madness of the unruly GLC continues unabated as only 91 out of 474 LLB graduates are deemed qualified to be called to the Bar. "One more proof that the entrance examinations and interviews are not just illegal and unethical but they are also entirely non-diagnostic. That is, the argument that they are designed to select quality graduates must fail on this performance report. "Further, this is proof that the Bar exam is a poor assessment tool or that the Ghana School of Law is incapable of training LLB graduates or both. "Think about it —— only 91 out of the 1,200 law graduates in this cohort are being called to the Bar!!!!" Prof Asare said on his facebook wall. Army says 'a number of battalions' to be deployed, including specialized intelligence units; protesters march in several West Bank cities shuttered by general strike https://static.timesofisrael.com/www/uploads/2017/12/000_UY2ZI-e1512645042585-640x400.jpg Israeli forces take position during clashes with Palestinian protesters in the West Bank village of Betunia near Ramallah on December 7, 2017. (AFP PHOTO / ABBAS MOMANI) The Israel Defense Forces on Thursday said it was deploying battalions to the West Bank as reinforcements, as clashes and scuffles broke out across the West Bank and East Jerusalem in anger over US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Palestinian were fuming over Trump’s Wednesday speech, in which he defied worldwide warnings and insisted that, after repeated failures to achieve peace, a new approach was long overdue. He described his decision as an acknowledgement of reality, as Jerusalem is the seat of Israel’s government. Trump also revealed he had instructed the US State Department to prepare for moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Palestinians marched in several West Bank cities and threw rocks and firebombs at troops in some places. Scuffles were also reported at the Damascus Gate in East Jerusalem. In Gaza, at least two Palestinians were reported injured by Israeli fire. https://static.timesofisrael.com/www/uploads/2017/12/000_UY11Y-640x400.jpg Palestinians take part in a protest against US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, in Gaza City, December 7, 2017. (MOHAMMED ABED/AFP) Hamas terror group leader Ismail Haniyeh on Thursday called for a new Palestinian intifada, or uprising. The Palestinian Authority also canceled classes for its West Bank school system for Thursday, in an apparent attempt to get more young Palestinians to clash with Israeli troops. In light of a “situational assessment by the IDF General Staff,” that army said it “decided that a number of battalions will reinforce the area of [the West Bank], as well as combat intelligence and territorial defense units.” The military would not specify the number of additional battalions being sent in the West Bank as reinforcements. As of Thursday morning, the army had not called up reserve units, which would have indicated an expectation of greater violence. On Wednesday, the Israel Police also announced that it would be deploying officers widely throughout the capital, including sites where violence is regularly expected. “The Israel Police is prepared for an immediate operational response to a wide range of scenarios if necessary,” a police spokesperson said. Outside the Old City of Jerusalem, small demonstrations — nonviolent, as of Thursday afternoon — were taking place between local residents and Border Police troops. Palestinian leaders in the Fatah-controlled West Bank responded to Trump’s speech with outrage, declaring that the United States could no longer serve as Middle East peace broker. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas called the change in longstanding US policy “deplorable.” Schools and shops were closed in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, as Palestinians protested Trump’s recognition and political groups called for protest marches in West Bank town centers at noon. https://static.timesofisrael.com/www/uploads/2017/12/000_UY19T.jpg Palestinian men walk past closed shops in the West Bank city of Hebron as a general strike was called following US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, December 7, 2017. (Israel Defense Forces) During his inspection, the IDF chief visited a number of settlements and was briefed on the “crossings, infrastructures and technologies that have been put in place to improve the security and quality of life in the area,” the military said in a statement. Eisenkot praised “the way in which the soldiers were operating to carry out their complex mission in the area, with commitment, professionalism, and smarts,” the army said.
