Has anyone observed that majority of traffic lights in Abuja especially in the City Centre are placed AFTER the junctions they want you to stop at. I am surprised that these very dangerous designs are approved by the Transport Authorities and allowed to be installed on very busy roads causing very serious accidents. Traffic Lights should be installed at the point where they want you to stop. Traffic Lights should be installed in pairs across the points they intend you to stop. If a motorist decides to drive in between 2 red lights , that person has broken the highway code. FCT Transport Department please take note. |
Someone posted this same story (word for word) some Months ago. |
Does anyone know of the Prolific Writer Florence Onyebuchi "Buchi" Emecheta OBE (21 July 1944 – 25 January 2017)? She is on the UK version of google. I had never heard of her until today. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Florence_Onyebuchi_%22Buchi%22_Emecheta_OBE_died_2017.png Florence Onyebuchi "Buchi" Emecheta OBE (21 July 1944 – 25 January 2017) was a Nigerian-born British novelist, based in the UK from 1962, who also wrote plays and an autobiography, as well as works for children. She was the author of more than 20 books, including Second Class Citizen (1974), The Bride Price (1976), The Slave Girl (1977) and The Joys of Motherhood (1979). Her themes of child slavery, motherhood, female independence and freedom through education gained recognition from critics and honours. Emecheta once described her stories as "stories of the world…[where]… women face the universal problems of poverty and oppression, and the longer they stay, no matter where they have come from originally, the more the problems become identical." Her works explore the tension between tradition and modernity. She has been characterized as "the first successful black woman novelist living in Britain after 1948". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buchi_Emecheta

Op, the lady in the photo is their Cousin, not their Mother. The lovely girls (in the photo) that perished are sisters not cousins. Another Cousin is currently in Hospital recuperating from the same accident. Please continue to pray for the family to endure this tragedy. |
