A US based Nigerian student from Imo state, Chimezie Ebiriekwe has won the Associated Student Presidential election in his university, San Diego state University. He had a total of 3,454 votes while his closest opponent, Ben Delbick had 1,189 votes. The other contestants, Chloe Sension and Kaitlyn Hart had 1,014 and 94 votes respectively. Congrats to him!

Nigerian Police Issue Warrant Of Arrest of Sahara Reporters Publisher Omoyele Sowore.
The Abuja command of the Nigerian Police has reportedly issued a Warrant of arrest against Mr Omoyele Sowore over the petition sent to the Inspector General of Police by Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West.

Senator Melaye complained of threat to his life as a result of Sowore’s cyber stalking which is punishable under the Nigerian law, he said since the malicious and libelous publication against him over the claim by Sowore that he did not graduate from the Ahmadu Bello University, that false report has caused him severe public embarrassment.

Several attempts has been made to properly educate Sowore that his publication is false and misleading, to set the record straight, the Vice Chancellor of ABU confirmed before the Senate Committee that Dino graduated from ABU in 2000 but Sowore still went ahead to further his malicious post on Facebook, disparaging the Vice Chancellor and the institution.
Recall that Sowore is still having a pending case bothering on false accusation, blackmail and cyber bullying against one Mr Lekan which led to Sowore detention at the Panti in Lagos.

The Police said there are other petitions written against Sowore in line with his stock in propaganda trade which the police has not made public.

The Police issued the warrant of arrest to invite Sowore for questioning to avert him using his blog to cause civil unrest, undue incitement and act of terrorism.

The Biafran born Ali Bongo, the current President of Gabon has been re-elected for a second term in office.

He narrowly defeated his opponent Jean ping, having scored 49.80% of the vote against 48.23% Interior Minister Pacome Moubelet-Boubeya told reporters on wednesday.

Bongo won by 5,594 votes out of 627,805 registered voters. Turnout was 59.46 percent nationwide but soared to 99.93 percent in one of the country’s nine provinces — the Haut-Ogooue, heartland of Bongo’s Teke ethnic group — in a result hotly contested by the opposition.

Recall that prior to the election reports emerged that the President of Ali Bongo Ondimba is a Nigerian of the ethnic Igbo group. It is said that he was adopted during the Biafran war by his father, Omar Bongo who handed over to him as President.

This development was later confirmed as a court in western France allowed a family member of Omar Bongo to view the birth certificate of Ali Bongo following accusations that he lied about his country of origin.

The Gabonese constitution demands that one must be born Gabonese to serve as the head of state, but French investigative journalist, Pierre Pean alleged in a recent book that the President was actually a Nigerian and was adopted during the Biafran war in the late 1960s.
