The Premier League leaders did not want to pay a fee of more than £20million while United were not only willing to meet Arsenal's £35million asking price, but offer much higher wages. The fee has since been cancelled out by United's willingness to trade Mkhitaryan, who is valued at the same price, in a straight-swap deal. |

BIG news from Standard Sport's Simon Johnson now - it appears that Emerson Palmieri has agreed to join Chelsea and has signed a four-year deal. ![]() |
From helping pogba to helping lukaku all these 29year old helpers helping 24year old FL**s ![]() Could he get Lukaku firing? Aside from Sanchez's goals, his biggest appeal to Mourinho might be the service he could provide for Lukaku. The Belgian made an outstanding start to life at Old Trafford, scoring 11 goals in his first 10 games, but he has only netted six in 23 since then. Could Sanchez's arrival at Old Trafford help Romelu Lukaku? That's likely to change if he lines up with Sanchez. The Chilean has created 183 chances from open play over the last three seasons, according to Opta. Only his Arsenal team-mate Mesut Ozil and Tottenham's Christian Eriksen have created more. Lukaku would relish that kind of service. What's the pundit verdict? "United missed out on buying Ivan Perisic in the summer, and with that missed out on a winger," former Manchester United midfielder Phil Neville told Sky Sports . "I think Sanchez provides the quality, the goals and the world-class ability he has got. "I think it [is an] absolutely unbelievable signing. If you look back at Man Utd's big signings over the decades, Cantona came out of the hat, Van Persie was a surprise, and they both helped United win titles. I think this could have a similar impact. He's got the character to play at Old Trafford." |
Geestunnar:claim down na the same goal.com na Or do you believe Sanchez no worth that salary ![]() |
How do his stats compare? The current campaign has been Sanchez's least effective yet in terms of goals and assists in the Premier League, with seven and three respectively putting him level with Martial despite playing considerably more minutes than the Frenchman. But Mourinho would be confident of helping Sanchez rediscover his best form. Last season, the Chilean scored 24 times and added 10 assists in 38 Premier League appearances, giving him the third highest combined total in the division behind Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku. The likes of Rashford and Martial have not come close to those numbers yet. What if Sanchez flops,. hope united still hold the receipt ![]() |
Now mou has plenty goal scoring players at least two of them score 25 or more goals last season. Does he fit Mourinho's style? Mourinho varies Manchester United's approach depending on the opposition but for the most part he likes his teams to defend compactly and destroy teams on the counter-attack. Sanchez is not known for the kind of defensive discipline Mourinho usually asks from his wide players, but he is rarely found wanting for commitment or work-rate and Mourinho would be confident that the Chilean could fulfil his demands. Sanchez's off-the-ball industry is coupled with the kind of winning mentality Mourinho craves, and he also offers outstanding pace and penetration on the counter-attack. He is even capable of breaking down teams who sit deep and put men behind the ball. As well as his goal-scoring ability, Sanchez can drop into midfield and pick passes and create chances. |
Where would he line up? Sanchez is able to play anywhere across the front line, but the most logical place for him in Mourinho's 4-2-3-1 formation is on the left, where the Manchester United manager has rotated between Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford this season. It's the position in which Sanchez has played for most of his career - including the current campaign. It allows him to isolate defenders in one-on-one situations and cut inside onto his favoured right foot. Sanchez also gives Mourinho an alternative to Romelu Lukaku or Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the out-and-out striker having scored 24 goals there for Arsenal last season, and he could also play as a supporting striker or No 10. |
Alexis Sanchez has become the highest-paid player in Premier League history after putting pen to paper on an £23 million-per-year deal with Manchester United. The Chile international left Arsenal for the 20-time English champions Monday, signing a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Red Devils believed to be worth £450,000 a week . As a result, Alexis replaces former United forward Wayne Rooney as the biggest earner the Premier League has ever seen, as the former England captain was on £300,000 a week at Old Trafford until he joined boyhood club Everton in the summer of 2017. Manchester United are also responsible for the next three salaries on the Premier League's highest-paid players list, with Paul Pogba’s £290,000-a-week contract being signed in 2016 as part of his then world-record £89.5m move from Juventus. Interestingly, the fourth highest salary was handed to Radamel Falcao during his 12 months on loan from Monaco in 2014-15, with the Colombian’s four goals in 29 appearances coming at the princely sum of £265,000 a week. Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku earns £250,000 a week having signed for United last summer from Everton, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s £220,000 pay packet is matched by the salaries of Manchester City pair Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure. United’s David de Gea and Chelsea’s Eden Hazard both take home £200,000 per week, while Liverpool have replaced Philippe Coutinho’s £180,000 weekly bill with a similar deal for £75m defender Virgil van Dijk. Sanchez was previously on around £140,000 with Arsenal but, having entered the final six months of his contract at the Emirates, the 29-year-old has made the most of his decreased transfer value by raking in a Premier League record contract. Lionel Messi is believed to command the highest current weekly salary in world football, with the four-year contract he signed with Barcelona in 2017 entitling him to wages of around £500,000 per week. However, Carlos Tevez was raking in even more than that at Shanghai Shenhua before returning to Boca Juniors in early January. The former Manchester United striker was earning around £650,000 a week over the course of his 12-month spell in China which he has since joked was merely a "holiday". like I said ![]() |
Edin Dzeko is set to join Chelsea in the coming hours. According to our sources, Antonio Conte called the Bosnian striker in order to persuade him to join the Blues. Dzeko, who scored a massive 29 goals last season in Serie A action, was reportedly not so interested in moving to London, or at least in leaving Rome, considering how well he has done there since leaving Man City for less than €10 million. Yet it looks like Conte’s phone call made the difference, the Italian wanting to find out what Dzeko really felt. Conte also made the Bosnian a deal worth €7 million a year. The next 48 hours are reported to be crucial in nabbing the Bosnian. Chelsea have made a €60 million offer for both the 31-year-old and team-mate Emerson Palmieri. It sounds like Roma is ready to accept, and that the two sides are in a final sprint to reach a deal. Small good news for Chelsea them. €50m + €10m in add one to be announced Wednesday ![]() |

united have struck gold in their signing of sanchez. sanchez will be too motivated too fail, he will bring back the days ororo wore 7 for united ![]() |
eph12:and you be fake itk ![]() |
elrony:madrid CAN NEVER BE like man united |
raumdeuter:atleast you admit bayern is failure when the going gets tough, even juv has more rep. no think am say i go defend any epl team o. na arsenal you they use they make mouth for cl. |
sanchez, lukaku, martial/rashford, mata/lingard, pogba, matic mou no get any excuse to be trophyless this season. |
Man United, barca and Madrid may Make the most money and regenerate more income because of there fans and all but they are not the richest that's Citywhen madrid started spending money psg was not even born ![]() let me put it in a better way them never born psg when madrid begin they spend money ![]() |
Melvyn11:united that is going to pay sanchez, sanchez o, what barca pays messi is doing what. hmmmbarca that bought a 20year old dembele based on God knows what for 130M is doing what. city's most expensive player kdb 70M euros then is their highest earner on 260-300k per week. psg bought the third best player in the world, neymar who has been world's top ten for 5years. na release clause them pay. name any player that has even been at 18 than mbappe, mehn the guy made ballon top 10, no be beans. banging goals from a new position in a new formation in a new club, no be beans. mbappe is and will always worth the fee and unlike barca psg showed wisdom in loaning mbappe first before paying. |
dopeJemi:bro you wicked o, so after oasis don yan say your analogy don burst ney95 brain you still give another. bro forget no be faith be this, you wicked you wicked you wan give the guy brain tumor ![]() |
raumdeuter:attack is easier, teams have more goalscoring than cleansheet games. an error in defense can cost you points but error in attack you can just go at it again. winning back the ball is tougher than retaining the ball. attack is more important not more dificult. even the players know which drill they hate the most. defence makes a strong team, attack makes a winning team. you can't win if your not strong. |
raumdeuter:eh forget city when was the last time bayern knocked out any of the top performing cl teams. |
phaamsaam:player A standing for 20mins then running 10mins vs player B walking for 30mins which will consume more energy and get more tired. or consider this: running after the ball vs moving with the ball which takes more energy. with the small football I played, i know why counter attacking coaches prefer players with high work rate and concentration and possession based coaches go for those with high technicality and ball control for a 'gradual' build up play. if you no get strength no go play defense game o. for example kdb will struggle in chelsea or united's midfield except he evolves like fabregas or plays like koke. |
SIRcumalot:mou has nothing to complain about again, united better win fa cup and make cl semis. you don't pay 500k per week to come and explain. |
Greatihex:correct guy, be like you notice the answer I give am ![]() |
Ibime:and develop a player vs coach scenario. carroll carroll, chelsea no even look marko arnautovic na carroll their eye go. dzeko has good link up play to play with the ball at feet, passing style game. hazard should not compare city to chelsea, because many players are scoring from that style of play, sterling is scoring, sane is scoring etc. i respect hazard cause he knows he is also responsible for this madness chelsea has. if he was scoring goals regularly chelsea no go bother. conte has played that style, an attacking front three of pedro, hazard, willian. what did they do? they fell conte's hand. conte once said he wants to build around hazard |
eph12:this your post they make me laugh i no know why anyway na eden hazard i they watch ![]() |
obainojazz:all this one una dey call hazard one corner wetin you go call dinho, that cl goal dinho score from standstill after him shake yansh finish |
even if sanchez has been trekking from london to manchester e for don reach by now. all this is a sign that united should not sign sachet |
Heywhizzy:yes but the tiny spaces hazard dribbles past players is breath taking. I know say na only goals they cause celebration but na those magical dribbles they make the game exciting |
bakayoko don dey better pass andre gomes credit to conte like that saturday he fielded only 4 players that had been in chelsea for more than 19months. chelsea has struggled through fitness and injury issues, and having lots of new average players adjusting. |
Heywhizzy:dignity ke, na money hazard wan gather. make them just announce sanchez deal, that 300k chelsea they offer hazard go turn 400k or more. no think say madrid for pay that kind money when bale, benzema and ororo no they collect am. |
Greatihex:ok like the one brazil use to play. you don watch the movie 'pele'. that ginga or samba style football. like in 5 on 5 games. kia football these days mehn. dinho stlye, zidane zizou turning, ronaldo, snake bite, okocha, show me your number. the days of pure magic. that's why i watch hazard |
