Shebi if he begs this year, he'll beg for school fees next year abi? What happens to feeding, accommodation and materials? Medical students wey their books dey cost die. Truth is, if his story is genuine which I doubt, resorting to begging at the very beginning of his 7 years sojourn is definitely a bad business. Either way, it's like someone who's on the horn of dilemma; he's damned if he acts, and even if he doesn't, he's still damned.

My dear, am sorry I can't help u financially but I understand you. People think so differently when they don't understand what some people go through to make their dreams come through. They don't know how hard it is for some people to secure admission in this country.
I remember applying for medicine in uniport in 2004. Had a high score, was happy ready and willing only for my hopes to be dashed. People that had lower scores got admitted, most were lecturers and rich men kids. Some sited catchment areas.
My cousin living with me got admitted to uniport, i have virtually turned into a begger asking ( no begging) all relatives to contribute just 5k to him. Everyone claiming how things are had, their children going back to school and all. Just few gave. In fact his own siblings couldn't give penny, well I know things are rough that's why I calculated that if all contribute just 5k or at most 10k each, he would be OK still nothing, Nada. Everyone is singing how tough or hard it's bitting them. If not for me am sure he would be singing same song as u online and people will label him thief and unprintable names.
I thank God for the provision he made. Though he hasn't paid all but he has paid the major one
I pray someone helps u cos I understand what u are going through. Whether u paid ur way or not, u have that admission and u will make it thru.

The point i'm addressing is not about whether those who set the cut off, are foolish or wise, it's your assertion regarding him not being smart enough to get into medical school, which is wrong, your initial post made it seem like, ALL those studying medicine in Nigeria were able to scale through the cut off, because they're "Smart"

In my first year in school, I met some medical students in class, with scores that will not get you into Life Sciences on a normal day, yet were admitted, however there were people who did better and ended up being sidelined, but superficial perception of that scenario will make you think it was their intelligence that got them the course.



In a nutshell, There are medical students that scale through the cut off and are admitted, others do too, and are sidelined, there are even cases were people get the same scores, one is picked and the other gets nothing.

So considering the admission system, in Nigeria, it is disdainful & callous to attribute the cause of a persons inability to secure admission on low intelligence without considering other factors.

I still maintain that the Ops actions were wrong nonetheless.

You are not remorseful one bit about what you did, rather you readily bring up a justification for it, heck, everyone else is doing it, right?
That is the problem here. I expected you to at this point, have a change of heart. You come to Nairaland seeking for funds while at the same time justifying what you did which is a criminal offence.
If you know your aggregate was good for any other course, you could have simply put in for any other course ab initio, and you would have gotten it. But you didn't. It wasn't good enough for the course you put in for. You refused to grab a change of institution form. So why cry over spilt milk?

You made no silly mistake, it was a deliberate action based on your choice, so you should be ready to face the results and consequences, as they show up.

This is just too expensive for a federal University... This fee schedule looks more like that of a state varsity... Here in Ibadan, Acceptance is 25K, School fee 20/23k(depending on dept or faculty), and even less for returning student, faculty, departmental and other registration should not exceed 15k...

i can confirm dat u need 70sumtin k 4 school fees, 80k for acceptance fee, about 25k for course reg and 3k for dept dues.
u still need money 4 faculty clearance.
but d fact dat u paid 150k to get what someone with an aggregate of 76 wasn't given makes me feel sorry for our education system
