❗️🚨 Facundo Buonanotte has made a strong start at Chelsea, scoring a hat-trick in a behind-closed-doors friendly and impressing both teammates and staff with his fitness.

His loan has no buy option, but Chelsea hold “matching rights” if another club bids next summer.

Though left out of the Champions League squad due to late transfer changes, he took it well and is expected to get minutes in domestic games. From January, he will count as homegrown, boosting his chances for the UCL knockouts.

He prefers the No 10 role and is seen as backup for Cole Palmer, whose minutes will need careful management.

When the summer transfer window opened, the opinion of everyone here about the replacement of De Gea at that point is well documented here. Some of us were not against his replacement, but we thought he was not the major problem of the team at the time, and it was not good business to spend scarce resources to replace him when they could have been spent to address other areas of the team where we needed reinforcement.

They missed automatic promotion with 90 points finishing 3rd in the Championship and were a million miles ahead of 4th place but got unlucky in the Playoffs final

All they had to do was repeat last seasons 90 point tally and they will easily get automatic promotion this year without Leeds and Burnley because there is no way Ipswich who only had 3 quality players (Leif Davis, Omari Hutchinson and Delap) will garner that number of points in the Championship, and Southampton and Leicester are a bit shaky too

Instead they sacked the unfortunate Chris Wilder for the close miss. Now their players have answered that fewl-ish decision with 5 defeats out of 5 to start the season and firmly bottom of the Championship. They just lost 5-0 to Ipswich tonight

Sheffield United got exactly what they deserved. When you sack a coach who worked tirelessly and only missed out through sheer misfortune, football has a way of paying you back.
Fifteen points are already gone, and that’s a massive gap to fill out of this early in the season. And I hate it when people repay good work with evil, may their woes continue....
