Both Carlo Ancelotti and Pep are examples of coaches who depend on star-studded teams to shine, though they are good but they can't achieve anything with ordinary teams.

Carlo Ancelotti's achievements in Real Madrid is a prime example, He spent over two seasons at Everton, yet they didn't make the top four. However, he won two UCL trophies in Real Madrid in less than three seasons. The question remains, why couldn't he qualify Everton for the UCL, not necessarily win it?
