Lexusgs430: Your only option is an indirect flight. No direct flight connection to Denmark. Start making plans for a transit visa application, cos thats your only recourse. Enjoy Danish bacons when you hit the Danes land !!!Thanks be to God. I arrived at the Kastrupt airport Copenhangen yesterday with the Lufthansa airlines. It was a roughly 7hr journey. We made the first entry to Frankfurt airport Germany where I spent roughly 2 hours in the airport before we made to Copenhangen. A roughly 1hr30mins flight. Yes, I was planning for a transit visa, but on a second thought, I decided to make some extra moves and the result favoured me when the Lufthansa Oyibo man that examins visas and other papers at the airport for luggage check-in gave an affirmative nod that I was ok without a transit visa. I took my passport to him personally. Thanks to everyone who has helped me so far with advices and directives. |

Demaejy: Congrats bro... Hope 2good has given you the right answer... Enjoys!Alright..........I also want to ask thes questions. Why didn't they issue me with a schengen visa? Are students visa not meant to be schengen or is it that they will give It to me when I arrive there? Do you know about Turkish airline too? |
2good: Expect a temperature between 4 degree celcius and -5 degree celsius when you come to Copenhagen. Also your sweater will not prevent the cold from entering your body. You need a proper winter wear and many people wear between 3 to 4 cloths on their body when outside to reduce the effect of the cold. I don't think they fly from Abuja so you have to go to Lagos to get the flight.Thank you very much for this Infomation.......... U can further give me names of other airlines that can fly me to Denmark without a transit visa so that I can weigh my options.......thanks |
morizboe: Demaejy, N̶̲̅o vex that I've not replied your question for a long time. I later used my brother's statement of account (we don't bear the same surname). I used his personal statement of account and also his own company statement of account- all from 5 different banks and he wrote a sponsorship letter which bears him as my uncle. Also he fixed-deposited 2 mil naira into my personal account which I attached the certificate in my application as evidence 'in my own name' for means of sustenance and also he mentioned it in the sponsorship letter that it's solely for the purpose of my education, that he deposited it. |
2good: Emirate airline does not require a transit visa. You will only have to fly a very long journey first to Dubai and then to Copenhagen, Denmark. Also take note that transit time between Dubai and Copenhagen might run into several hours and Denmark is currently very very cold. All the best and good luck.Thank you very much for the information. Let me check if they operate at abuja here, so that I will book with them...... Like what degree iis the cold there now? Well, I've got some sweaters already but would be grateful if you still furnish me with other necessary items I should equip my self with against the weather there. School has started since 1st September and I've missed out all these while. My department has even written the 1st block exam. I just need to work harder and start with them in the 2nd block. Let me look at the site you gave to me. Thanks |
Demaejy: @Morizboe- Bro, how far about your application regarding the statement of account you used? Please give us a feedback how you later did it...Demaejy, N̶̲̅o vex that I've not replied your question for a long time. I later used my brother's statement of account (we don't bear the same surname). I used his personal statement of account and also his own company statement of account- all from 5 different banks and he wrote a sponsorship letter which bears him as my uncle. Luckily, I got the student visa on Friday but the problem I have now is flight. All the airlines I have checked are refusing me to book a flight with them on the ground that my visa is not a schengen visa, and thus I would not be allowed to enter their first port of call before going to Denmark. KLM,British air, lufthansa all gave me the same response. is there any airline tha goes directly to Denmark or which will not demand for a transit visa from me? Am right now at abuja but wouldn't mind travelling to Lagos to baord any available direct flight. If you have any information about this kindly pass it to me. |
.. Sorry for digressing a bit........ I got my students visa to Denmark on Friday and the problem of flight arose. I have tried to book flight with KLM,lufthansa,aIrfrance, but was told that I can not be allowed to enter the various countries of their first landings eg France for airfrance. This entails that I may need a transit visa but it could be another long process and stress for me as I am right now in abuja and spending heavily since Thursday. So I want to ask if there is an airline that can take me directly to Denmark or even if not directly, I would not be needing a transit visa. If the airline operates at Lagos, then I would travel from abuja here to Lagos for it..... IS THERE ANY AIRLINE THAT FLYS TO DENMARK DIRECTLY?? PLEASE HELP ME OUT. Thanks |
Vicjustice: i was actually having VISIT VISA in my mind when i wrote that, regarding the bank statement.ok Vic, see another option they gave in the form that was sent to me - that a bank statement in form of grant or scholarship can be presented. my question is can we arrange this money in form of "a grant or scholarship?" would that save the situation despite the fact that the course I am going to study is not related to what his firm produces? must a beneficiary be related to someone that gives him scholarship or grant? |
morizboe: yes it's even written in the resident and work permit form sent to me. they repeatedly said that "an applicant has to present a bank statement in 'his name' that he can support him self through his study years" and the account must show DKK 2445 per month. when I visited dannish embassy at Asokoro Abj, tothey also wrote that an applicant can present a financial proof in the form of "grant" or "scholarship". who knows how a grant can be prepared. I will visit my bank for inquiries tomorrow. but can it be a good decision |
Demaejy: Brother, but what's the next thing for him to do now? He has paid a tuition fee which means his mind is almost in Denmark, lets help a brother for a possible way out while in Denmark as you live there. Hence, we cannot say, maybe he is financially buoyant without depending on a student job.yes it's even written in the resident and work permit form sent to me. they repeatedly said that "an applicant has to present a bank statement in 'his name' that he can support him self through his study years" and the account must show DKK 2445 per month. when I visited dannish embassy at Asokoro Abj, to make some inquiries, the receptionist there also said that to me. |
2good: How do you expect to cope while in Denmark? I work and live in Denmark and will tell you that life is very expensive here as a student if you don't have a job. Also getting a job is tough if you don't understand Danish except you work for one of the few international companies, which requires you to have an internationally recognized university degree. You said you have paid tuition for the first semester but are you thinking of the payment of the second semester tuition? Why not apply to a university in Norway or Germany instead where the tuition is something you don't have to bother yourself about? Living in Europe is not as easy as people think so always be objective in making decision.my brother I understand what you are saying fully. I applied at various schools across Europe. this school finally offered me admission. so what do you expect me to do?discard it and continue the application next year?I applied at university of Oslo, at Jacob university Bremen Germany and also at Copenhagen University which offered me the admission. what I want now is how to solve my present hurdle and move ahead. you survived it as a student and now at a greater height, so some other persons must survive it and you wouldn't tell me that you didn't face financial challenges at a time in Denmark. i have my plans. if you have an idea concerning my present hurdle, just lend me |
Demaejy: Who told you the bolded part? Embassy or Ordinary individual person ? Only Czech repubic is the one i know that will request for your sponsor statement of account and your own statement of account. It doesn't matter that your sponsor must bear the same name with your own name, afterall, since you will provide them with sponsorship letter that will state willingness of your sponsor to finance you. Although, people do think you stand a better chance if both of you bear the same name. However, if you are to present your own statement of account, then ask your sponsor to put the money into your account. You must get enough information on Danish embassy website. If it was the Netherland, you don't need all these, pay your money and you will just be fine. Please tell me, what is the name of your school in Denmark? Are they not allow you to pay tuition fee in instalment?have you not heard about money lodgement? A move that provides an express ground for refusal of visa by embassies.money lodgement is when you deposit a huge amount into your account for the purpose of presenting it to the embassy and if I should do that now that I have barely a week to submit my documents, it's a big risk. but have you seen anybody that did his own that way and scaled through? my brother Demaejy, I am at a big cross-road now. the school name is Copenhagen University and they allow a minimum of 7000 euro per semester of which the first semester must be paid by the applicant if admitted for him to be given full admission and also given the resident and work permit form which he would take to the embassy together wit other supporting documents. when studies start, the student must pay his tuition a month to the start of each new semester. |
morizboe: well I'm making this enquiry based on what the receptionist said that "statement of account must be in my name and not sponsors and the embassy doesn't care about how it was deposited on the condition that the money would not be touched throughout the duration of the visa processing". Me self was surprised to hear him say it and then I extended it here for inquiries to see if anyone has encountered such policy with any embassyVicjustice I have paid my tuition fee and some part of housing, could that be an advantage to the approval of my visa application even when my sponsor's surname and mine differ? |
Vicjustice: Are you trying to encourage yourself by creating an imaginary circumstance that never is? If it is true, that "the embassy is not interested in the source or how the money was deposited as to consider lodgement", why do they want to see bank statements with six months transaction history?well I'm making this enquiry based on what the receptionist said that "statement of account must be in my name and not sponsors and the embassy doesn't care about how it was deposited on the condition that the money would not be touched throughout the duration of the visa processing". Me self was surprised to hear him say it and then I extended it here for inquiries to see if anyone has encountered such policy with any embassy |
Vicjustice: To be honest, you don't have the best of chance if the person that you claim would be sponsoring you is your "uncle"This sort of story sounds weird and never easy to believe anyway, but my story is nothing but the truth. but Vic, have you seen that situation whereby the embassy is not interested in the source or how the money was deposited as to consider lodgement, but only wants to see a certain amount in the very applicant's account? could what the receptionist said be truth? dear Vic, I am counting on your vast knowledge and experience to help me get through this hurdle . I will be so happy to hear your words again. God bless you |
Demaejy: No, it doesn't matter that your sponsor must be your family or you bear the same name. Even some schools will give you admission without showing them any statement of account, and regarding your visa, once you paid an estimate fees to your school, you have no problem because the school will apply for your visa. Thus, you have no issue with embassy regarding any statement of account. My admission is not at Netherlands, but at Denmark and I don't think the two operate the same way. The school I applied to has sent me resident and work permit form to fill and submit to the embassy with other supporting documents, of which statement of account is among them. but my intending sponsor has an entirely different surname with me but I have read in different "travel threads" that ones sponsor must be an immediate family memeber. I have paid the tuition fee of 7000 euro and also paid 3 months accomodation which I will be presenting the documents to the embassy with my application. But I was also told that sponsorship is not allowed and the statement of account should be the applicants own with enough money to cover the estimated applicant's monthly expenditures. Have you read about such statement of account requirement before or have an idea? PLS ANYBODY THAT HAS DIVERSE INFORMATION ABOUT "SPONSORSHIP" SHOULD PLS HELP ME OUT. thank you all |
Vicjustice: Why not ask your brother to undertake an affidavit with the declaration that you have narrated here? The name adjustments are very understandable in the eyes of a Nigerian as such is a common practice: trust me, you will not be the first person to present such a complication to a visa officer, these officers are familiar with this kind of situation and would consider affidavit as a valid explanation that especially as it is understandable that the compound surname has evolved through modifications and adjustmentThank you Vic, I am really getting some wonderful insights. As you asserted, this name wahala is found in almost every family. The affidavit would be good, i think we'll go by it. let me discuss with my brother. But i hope embassy would recognize it and wouldn't look at it as a sharp move to meet ends owing to the notion that fraud abounds large in the land of nigeria. But if we could pose that he is my uncle, what are the chances of a good result? less I forget, when I visited the dannish consulate at Asokolo Abj, to gather some information, though I was not allowed to enter but can only make inquiries through a half-way opened window of the reception, I was told by one of the uniformed receptionists that the dannish embassy doesn't want to hear about sponsorship, but are interested in the money in the applicant's account, that any statement of account I will be presenting must bear my name and my so sponsor can deposit the intended money to my account which is not meant to be touched during the length of processing of my visa. He buttressed his fact by concluding that this information he is giving is classified and that he is not suppose to be telling me this but because of how keen I've shown to be about it, that every information I needed has been supplied in the website. I was so dumbfounded to hear that considering the fact about money lodgement and the consequences. But I didn't believe him. I thought maybe he is newly employed and has not known the system very well. And in their website, they keep saying "your statement 0f account" or "the statement of account in your name". they've never referred to a sponsor so far in where statement of account issue is discussed in their website. and they would always say that "you" have to document that "you" have equivalent of eighty something thousand per month during the total duration of your stay... could what he said about applicant's own account be truth or should I dismiss that and continue with my sponsorship pursuit? dear Vic, I'll be happy to hear your words on this. have you encountered such a situation before? or do you know if some embassies operate in that manner? |
Vicjustice: I'm just trying to work out how a (male) person who you said is your brother could have a different surname from yours, it would be understandable if we're talking about a female whose surname is susceptible to change on marital ground.@Vicjustice.. the surname change started from my childhood when my guardian that I lived with started shortening my 'long surname' when she wants to write my name for me on the text books(Mc Millian etc) and exercise books she bought for me. Even my 'first school leaving cert' carries the shortened surname and from there to secondary school(my WAEC has it), until university. I felt relaxed as I couldn't see it a serious issue in the near future.see the picture - my surname is Ezeibeanozie and I started shortening it to Ezeibe, while my other siblings answer it in full and one of my siblings too has his surname as only Anozie. it's just out of ignorant of future identity issues!! Dear Vicjustice I am as confused as ever at this juncture as to how to convince the VO that he is my brother or is there any other means I can use to give an acceptable statement of account. If I tell the VO that he is my uncle, would that save me? And would a letter of sponsorship from him solve the problem? He owns a production firm and can afford any level of sponsorship, but the problem is the legitimacy of my family tie with him. wouldn't embassy accept sponsorship from anybody provided he has the required amount stocked in the account and can document that the money are at my disposal to use at any time? Dear Vic, if there is any other way out, please advice me cos i am running out ideas to solve this problem. thanks |
@ Vicjustice I have been given an appointment at dannish consulate for interview on first week of july (for masters studies) and i have got all my documents prepared (certified birth certificate, certified degree results, confirmation of payment of 1st semester tuition fee, confirmation of students resident payment etc), but the problem i'm facing is sponsorship. The dannish immigration's website keep saying repeatedly that the statement of account to be presented to the consulate during interview MUST be that of the applicant or immediate family memeber like parents or siblings or a guradian for Minors and not for persons above 18. Now I am being sponsord and in my mid-twenties and unfortunately my sponsor's surname and mine are not the same, despite he is my blood elder brother. And if we try to deposit a reasonable amount of money in my account a week to my interview date, it will be seen as money lodgement-which is very bad. so against all odds, I am planning to present a sponsorship statement of account from my brother who has a different surname with mine. pls dear, advice me on the best possible way to tackle this stumbling block of sponsorship and difference in surname. would it really affect my application considering the fact that i've already paid tuition fee and housing fee? waiting to hear from you soonest. thanks |
Demaejy: There are many universities in the Netherlands that your sister and you can apply to. Its better you read some pages on this thread to find more info. However, be expecting tuition fee from € 6,500 - 7,500 per academic year. If you get money, you have no problem with your visas. Cheers!@Demaejy,you said "if you get money, you have no problem with your visas". my question is must the statement of account you will present to the embassy bear your name? wouldn't there be room for sponsorship from a person entirely not bearing your surname? I mean a family friend or a guardian who is catering for your study expenses. must the money come from you considering the fact that an average nigerian student cant pay such high amounting tuition fees? if there is room for sponsorship, must it be from your family? As in the statement of account bearing your surname as the same to your sponsor's? |
@ Vicjustice.... Oh i just reread it....quoting... "Parents/Guidance (especially for Education)" ... Thank you for all the answers |
Thanks Vicjustice.... In essence, does our relationship (me and sponsor) matter at all? As in, would it be a problem if we don't have family ties or must my sponsor be my relative? |
@ sunnydayasaba............. Thanks for the answers you gave to me. I really appreciate. Will keep you updated as things roll out. Any other person cAn throw their contributions/suggestions. I will be grateful indeed. Thanks |
@ sunnydayasaba................ Thank you so much for the advice. But coming to sponsorship, they may think that I may be playing smart since the surnames are not the same. What possibly should be my ânswer if they should ask my relationship with the sponsor? Should I start to narrate how our surnames went different or shoould I simply say he is my uncle or half brother or cousin brother, instead of telling a long story that may start to soound Manipulated.. Pls I need ur thorough advice. Thanks. |
@ sunnydayasaba............ Thank you for this tip. It could really be a convincing presentation.I hav pics we took together.I have call logs. But I don't have documents to prove he sends me money cos he sends the money to my elder brother who will now give me the one meant for me.but can I also present my two brothers statements of account. NB: Their surnames differ with mine. Also what possibly can I present to indicate a tie to my country that would act as a bait to bring me home after my education? Cos as It is clear here that I will be using a sponsor, there should be a "drag" they may be expecting from me. Something that will lure me back after my education.I don't have any landed property or immovable asset and nOt married too, to that effect. Pls what can I do cos I can't stand the trauma of being denied a visa since these are the outstanding criteria for issuing of visa as we all know. Pls give me more hints on how to scale through. Thanks |
Sir, I want to know if the university helps thE prospective student in the procurement of his/her student visa? Or the student does it alone and may get denied of the visa? Also does the school accept "statement of result" if the main degree certificate has not been issued to the student from his university? My friend has been denied student visa before after all his struggle to make it to a school in Denmark. Because he used "statement of result". They should'v verified from his school the authenticity of the certificate than denying him visa.I willl like to apply but am afraid of visa denial after I might have spent a huge amount applying and paying school fees. Pls sir tell me what and what I need to do to avoid being denied of a visa. As for applying, I will do that once I am sure of thAt I wouldn't be denied a visa. I have all my credientials ready. I just want to know if aalborg university will help me secure the visa like most of the schOols in Netherlands do.....also tell me the requirements cos I want to come for MSc. ThAnks |
Vicjustice and other contributors, thank you so much for all the helpful insights. And pls attend to my case too. I keep marvelling as I followed this thread and read many cases of visa denial.it could be painful anyway and I don't want to experience it as this will be my first visa application...... I'll be 28 by May.I applied for MSc programme at two schools in Denmark and I have gotten a "conditional letter of admission" from one of the schools. They said I could pay my school fees of €7000 per semester and kick off visa application as they'll send me the necessary forms after the school fees payment. But I am not currently working or have any source of income. The last transaction in my oceanic bank account was July last year (alawi) when I finished my national youth service. But I have a brother who stays at Norway, he was the one that encouraged me to do the application and assured that he'll help do the money part of it and also I have a brother that owns a production firm here in Nigeria, he can also sponsor me too. My family surname is very long so I have been shortening it half way ever since my primary school and it has reflected in all my documents, but my brothers have theirs in full(they're my blood elder brothers).will this affect them sponsoring me? Also I don't know what to do to my statement of account so that it wouldn't be seen as money lodgement(if I should pose as sponsoring my self with my brothers money deposited to my own very account), because over 10 months now there has not been any transaction in it and I hope to start the visa application by late April or early May to start school by September. I would have had my brother that has production firm here to sponsor me but, I want to study MSc biotechnology which doesn't have any thing to do with his production firm as the embassy would like to know the impact my education would have on my brothers firm as the sponsor. And also the surname difference. My brother at Norway is a green card holder, working, married to a norwegian girl and has a kid, but our surname is a bit different. On what grounds could he act as my sponsor? Pls I am getting confused already and I need advices.. Thanks and eagerly waiting for your valuable advices. |
P.desmond I am happy for ur successful admission procurement, and I want to assure other admission seekers that God must fulfil all our heart desires............ I was offered a "Conditional Admission" at Copenhagen university Denmark into an MSc programme and the 'condition' here is that I should supply them with 1. a certified bachelors degree certificate 2.send a "passed English teSt" and 3. submit a certified bachelors degree transcript.. But my worry now is that I have sent these documents in my application in the first place. During my application,my school enclosed my certified transcrip. I photocopied my statement of result and included it just like that cos my school refused to certiFy it for me. They said it is only when Copenhagen university writes to them for verification of my documents, that's the time they'll certify it. I took Toefl PBT and scored 557, but the course I applied for requires 560. Just 3 marks away from my mark....gush!!!TOEFL has sent my result to the school. So I don't know what to do now, where to start.should I take another TOEFL or should I send them a proof that English has been my medium of tuition since primary school? Because it's just a difference of 3 marks ..557 and 560. Should I beg them to consider me? I don't want to start all over again to endure the stress of taking another TOEFL and it's expensive..costs like 32k for iBT. What I submitted was my statement of result but it is just a photocopy and not certified. Should I engage the service of Notary public to certify if for me? My main woryy is this English proficiency document. Also they said I should pay my tuition fee oF 7000euro (equivalent to N1.5million) as the minimum for now which is only the 1st semester fee.please friends look into my issue and tell me wat possible way out of this critical condition. Also I wAnt to know how easy or hard it can be to get a dannis student visa and What to expect in the embassy. Somebody should tell me more about "Notary public" and how it works.. Thanks |
My man Ziggy did u later mAde it to Denmark and how was ur experience at the embassy? Pls Kindly share ur experience cos now I need A directive on how to package for such journey cos I am hoping for an admission for an MSc programme in Denmark too. Best regards. Also if u are already in Denmark share ur general exPerience so far with me plssss. Thanks once again |
