Sports / WONDERFUL!!! Team Nigeria Kits Arrive Brazil Three Days To End Olympic by mosalab(m): 9:56pm On Aug 18, 2016
Three days to the end of the 2016 Rio Olympics, Team Nigeria took delivery of the much awaited kits after most of the athletes had concluded their events with some already back to their bases.
A top official of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria who disclosed this to Sports Vanguard Thursday, said the kits which arrived Wednesday night would no longer serve any purpose because “most of the athletes have left after concluding their events”.
He added that “I have never experienced this in my years in sports. Money meant for the Games was held tightly by ministry officials and they were just releasing money piecemeal. We had to buy kits on our own while some athletes competed in their personal kits.”
It would be recalled that Team Nigeria had to resort to their warm-up track suits for the match past of the Opening Ceremony as the sports ministry claimed the official attire which was showcased before President Muhammadu Buhari during the hand-over ceremony in Abuja failed to arrive on time for the ceremony.
Nigerians who were alarmed by the embarrassing scenario condemned the ministry for the untidy handling of the athletes’ kits but the sports minister, Solomon Dalung, in defence of the ministry, tweeted with a post that even the South African contingent appeared at the Opening Ceremony in their track suits.

Pets / Why I Named My Dog ‘buhari’ — Joe Chinakwe by mosalab(m): 2:04am On Aug 18, 2016
The Police in Ogun State, yesterday, released unconditionally, the 30-year-old trader, Joe Fortemose Chinakwe, who was arrested last Saturday for naming his pet dog ‘Buhari’.

The embattled trader, who was visibly angry after his three-day incarceration in police cell, was let off the hook around 5pm on Tuesday after the intervention of both the Serkin Hausa and President-General of non-indigenes in the state.

It was learned that the prompt intervention of the elders made the complainant to withdraw the case he reported against the trader at Sango-Ota division which was later transferred to Police headquarters at Eleweran.

However, police sources said both the complainant and suspect were made to sign an undertaking not to cause any breach of peace again.

Speaking to Vanguard after this release, the trader, a father of two from the Niger Delta, who trades on second hand clothing lamented that he was made to suffer for no just cause.

Complainant from Niger Republic

Narrating his ordeal, Chinakwe said “It is annoying because the complainant is from Niger Republic and I am sure he is one of those illegal aliens in this country. He connived with one Police Sergeant from the Northern part of Nigeria called Musa, who works at Sango Police division to humiliate me. Worse still, the Divisional Police Officer there, did not help matters as he refused to entertain any plea from me after I was arrested that Saturday night. He simply ordered his men to throw me into the cell.”

Why dog was named Buhari

Continuing, he said “I did not commit any offence. I named my beloved pet dog Buhari, who is my hero. My admiration for Buhari started far back when he was a military Head of State. It continued till date that he is a civilian President. After reading his dogged fight against corruption, which is like a canker worm eating into the very existence of this country, I solely decided to rename my beloved dog which I called Buhari, after him. I did not know that I was committing an offence for admiring Buhari.

Ordeal with Police

“I was intimidated and thrown inside the cell with hardened criminals for about three days. While I was there, the complainant from Niger Republic and Sergeant Musa from the North kept on taunting me saying people from my part of the country are trouble makers and that after detaining me, they will throw me into prison where I will die unsung.

”Even when my wife came with our baby on her back, they stopped her from giving me food. One of my friends that came to see me was also maltreated.

“While taking me to Eleweran the next day, they handcuffed and chained me together with that my friend. Fortunately, when we got to police headquarters, both the Commissioner of Police and other officers were angry with their colleagues at Sango-Ota.

”They were wondering loudly why I was brought to the headquarters over such a minor case. It’s very unfortunate that I have to be so humiliated in my own country because of the antics of a foreigner in connivance with my brother from the North.”

Politics / Police Seal ONDO APC Secretariat by mosalab(m): 1:55am On Aug 18, 2016
ARMED policemen yesterday, cordoned off the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Ondo state as the crisis over the sack of the State Chairman, Mr Isaac Kekemeke deepened.
This came as the national leadership of the party waded into the crisis of confidence rocking its chapter and has consequently summoned all parties to the dispute for an emergency meeting.
Vanguard gathered that a bloody clash erupted between supporters of three governorship aspirants, who sacked the chairman and sympathisers of the chairman at the secretariat yesterday.
The clash, which turned bloody ensued when supporters of the chairman attempted to dislodge those who sacked him and had been occupying the secretariat since Tuesday.
It took the intervention of officers of the Police Command led by the Area Commander in charge of Akure Area Command before the situation could be brought under control.
Vanguard further gathered that the aggrieved party members, who sealed the party secretariat, on Tuesday, had converged in order to prevent members of the executive, from gaining access to the secretariat.
The new chairman, Saka Yusuf Ogunleye, who pronounced himself as Kekemeke’s replacement had sat at the entrance of the secretariat with his supporters waiting to be ushered into the secretariat when some party members came with cudgel, cutlass and dangerous weapons.
The party members were led by one Alhaji Amoda Bello, a former leader of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
APC leadership wades into crisis, summons aspirants
Meanwhile, the Deputy National Secretary of the party, Oji Ngofa stated that a meeting of all parties involved in the dispute has been called.
Ngofa said this, yesterday, while speaking with journalists at the national secretariat of the party.
According to him, the leadership of the party has not endorsed any aspirant for its forthcoming governorship primary election in the state, adding that a meeting called to resolve the dispute would hold on Saturday.
Stones, sticks and other dangerous weapons were freely used by the aggrieved members until they dislodged the aggrieved members.
After they had successfully dislodged the new chairman, Bello and other party loyalists opened the party state secretariat and allowed the Secretary, Mr Rahman Rotimi to gain access to his office.
Other employees of the party were also allowed into their offices.

SS/SE are electoral disgraces to democracy.

While other States count and release ward results in the presence of the populace, the same can't be said for the above regions.

They intimidate voters, snatch ballot boxes and violence is much the order of the day.

They are still backwards in those regions considering electoral practices and some people will come out to defend that practice.

Where in the North, south west (apart from Ekiti), or even the middle belt is that the norm considering elections?

They reward their criminals for doing a bad job in those regions with electoral positions due to tribal or sentimental reasons.
you just express your political stupidity.... have you ever think of the following
1. JEG (PDP) loss and congratulated the winner GMB (APC).
2. JK (PDP) loss and congratulated the winner AMB(APC).
3. Yero (PDP) loss and also congratulated the winner Elrufai(APC). Same in Oyo, Adamawa, katsina e.t.c...
Just give me an example of a state where APC has conceded defeat withou violence... Don't you think something is wrong with your party leaders and followers?
And lastly you guys keep talking about fayose rigging election and he keep winning in all local government for 3 consecutive time... Are you sure the guy is not smarter than you people?
