Travel / Re: Counter Thread About A Nairalander 4 Months Experience In China by Moss911: 4:55pm On Aug 01, 2023
Good day bro,
I just followed you.. I need to clarify some information from you, please 🙏🏽
lawnreigh:
Good Day NLDers, I saw an earlier thread created by a nairalander over his 4 months experience staying in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. China. I know most of Nigerians are really desperate to leave the country, Its true that tuition fees of Chinese schools are cheaper and getting admission is easy. I will give everyone a very important advise before considering schooling in China as a self sponsored student.

1) It is illegal for all International students to work in China, people do work true but the fact its that there are 2 major jobs for foreigners in China which is English Teaching and Working in entertainment industry i.e in Clubs as Hypeman, bouncers etc which are still illegal. If you are caught working as an English teacher on student visa, the first time, you will be fined 10,000 rmb while ur hustle is at most 200rmb per hour. If you are caught the second time you will be expelled from your program and deported to your country. Also note, its hell of a task to get teaching job as a black African in China because they are racist and only want white teachers to teach their children.

2) We all here stories about Nigerians been arrested in China for drug peddling and how does it starts, most Nigerians resort to going to clubs after finding it difficult to get a job, that is where they meet drug cartel that tell them to peddle drug because it the only way to survive since they cant get a job. The implication is that once you are caught peddling drug in China, the maximum sentence it comes with is Death Sentence, many Nigerians are on death row in China but you wouldnt know because Chinese hardly report exxecution in the media, China has the highest execution rate in the world, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia only report execution to scare off drug dealers. China execute more but wouldnt report it. The moment Chinese police arrest a drug suspect nobody knows their whereabouts except for the individual and God.

I stayed in Beijing, China on Chinese government scholarship that comes with monthly allowance which makes survival easy for me, Beijing is more expensive been the capital. My advise is, if you dont have someone to sponsor you that will be giving you steady monthly stipends dont consider studying in China, rather use the money to seek admission in a country where you can work and study legally. If not you might end up regretting, in addition, the highest number of self sponsored Nigerian students in China are in Shenyang, but a month doesnt pass without news of a Nigerian student arrested/caught involving themselves in one vices or the other. Other hot red flag zones for Nigerians in China are Guangzhou etc but if after all that is said above, you think you can survive without steady and guaranteed source of monthly stipend from home or elsewhere. I wish you goodluck
Note: I'm not discouraging people to study in China but stating the actual situations behind the glamour and glitters of beautiful city and infrastructures China has to offer. Getting a job and source of livelihood is important anywhere in the world. Thanks
I will be attaching some pictures to back up my claim

I just tried to initiate Form A payment, and 3 banks said the £ rate is now between 780/1£ to 790/£1 due to Tinubu’s/CBN monetary policy

Omo…this is bad for international student

I'm just tired of the whole thing. Man have to re strategies again, all the required amount has doubled because of this policy.
Even POF now, x 2.

U get tax clearance??

If you work in a firm that pays tax on your behalf, you can request for your certificate to be generated from all your tax remitted.

You can easily google this though. Edubond is education bond, that is money you pay into an irish agency that holds your funds for you till you arrive in ireland, and is shortly released to you upon creation of your own bank account when you arrive and are settled in ireland.
The Edubond is a substitute for POF which you would use to prove your capability of covering your living expenses cost.

Okay.. thanks
I think this is better than having to show a 6 months bank record(POF).

Is the money released at once or monthly unlike Germany?

Hello,

I need help and advice regarding proof of funds and proof payment since I'll be applying for a visa soon.

1. I work remotely for a company abroad and I want use the money in my domiciliary account as my proof of funds and living expenses. Since I'm paying half of the school fees, the other half will be sent to this domiciliary account from my piggyvest flex dollar account. What documents do you recommend I need to make this proof of funds and evidence of source of income good enough?

2. To pay the school fees, I recently sold some of my digital currencies. The buyer paid in naira and I intend to use form A to make the payment soon. My issue is, if I'm asked to prove how I made the money for school fees payment, what will I bring that will suffice? Will I need to present a bank statement for this naira savings account too? I'm just using it for the fee payment.

3. What documents will be useful to prove strong family ties?

4. I have a very long gap year, I graduated five years ago and I basically did remote jobs to raise money. And I'm also going for a conversion course, which is related to the remote paid work I did, but unrelated to my university degree. Any tips on what I should say, present,to write?

I really need advice on these. Please I'll appreciate it.

Good day bro.
Please, I'll like to reach out to you via WhatsApp or email. Thank you.

If you choose to pay with naira, you can use a visa card but the transaction will not go through. I even emailed convera to confirm.

So the next action was to pick a different currency either Euro, GBP or USD.
I picked USD because I had some USD in my account.

But if you pick it, it will prompt you to generate an instruction that you can either print and take to your bank or you can make the transfer from your mobile or online banking yourself.

I decided to go to the bank because I didn't wanna hear stories.

However, at the bank they'll tell you that since you're making a transfer, you can only transfer the money that was transfered in.

So when buying any foreign currency, tell the buyer to transfer to your account.

DO NOT DEPOSIT!
If you deposit, they will not be able to do the transaction because according to CBN inflow can only be transferred. Deposit can not be transfered.

Unless you transfer the money to another person using the same account after you deposit and then you transfer back.
Just save yourself the stress and make sure the money is transferred in from the beginning.

Convera got back to me within a day that they had processed the transaction. However, my school is yet to get back to me - they said confirmation takes days.

But if you get the success email, then you can be sure that they'll see your cash.

This slip you got from convera that you took to the bank does it contain the bank account details of the school??

I have paid with Convera.
My bank made the payment before the end of the day and it took Convera about a day to send the money to the school.
However, it will take a while to hear back from the school. But some schools generally advise to use Convera

Please, how does this convera works and what NGN bank did you initiate the payment with??
