Eze just proved Arteta right for not entrusting him with that LW position even when Martinelli and Trossard were shiit for most of the season.Eze always does the barest minimum when it comes to defensive contribution Irrespective of whatever position he plays.

One reason I will give Arteta the stick in this match is the continued playing from the back the team adopted even while we were trailing. We didn't attack the ball well enough. By the time we started attacking with full force it was too late.

I don't think Gyokeres starting ahead of Havertz would've achieved much in this match.

By the way this is not the match that will determine our season, that Bournemouth game was the most important match of our season yet we were served dross by the team.
The bolded is exactly the issue today. We're not attacking the ball. Losing duels all over the pitch.

As for Gyokeres, ot is just so obvious. I really hope he improves. The striker we basically needs now is a mixture of Kai and Gyokeres. Kai can hold up nut not sharp in front of goal. Gyokeres can shoot but poor aerially. What a dilemma 😂

Igor Jesus or Igor Thiago maybe

Come off it abeg.

I knew you'd stick to the no need for CF stance. Its why we'll never see eye to eye cos you've believed also we don't need one. Lol.

I no get time to dey repeat wetin i don dey tok come since last season. Sha no dey do like asif we truly didn't need this Gyokores eveb if he sef get hin own for body. The timing of his coming on was off for me. Eze stinkers today... His bar hit won't change my conclusion on his stinking display. Same for the others in the front line.

"Almost chased him out of here"

😂😂😂😂

Abeg abeg. Leave that talk for jss2 boys. No be today we go recycle talk. My stance hasn't changed. The pep we want to outperform dey use both 9 and false 9. But I'm overreaching for saying we need one so that when the false 9 go LUTH we go dey do like Mid table team abi?
One thing about you is you can actually type a 1000 words here and still ended up saying nothing.

I dislike hypocrisy. Your world class striker who is supposed to lead the team to title is there dropping stinkers but na Kai be your problem.

You'll be fine dear brother. You'll be fine

They're on X cooking already. Lol.

Man messed up with his subs and this trusting of Kai to drop to the middle. Cos what was that Zubi removal for? Okay, he's been just there today. You comot am but leave Kai on the pitch. Smh.

Now GD is just 1 and they'll plummet Burnley on Wednesday and use GD to go top. We have flunked our opportunities prior to this. Arteta has gambled in a dumb way. 3 players contributed. But his substitutions ruined the fire to get one back.
FFS, if you really want to blame the coach, at least do it properly. Kai Kai Kai every time.

That guy was basically our biggest threat up front.
Spy was here pushing the notion that we don't need a CF to function. You and your crew almost chased him out of here.

Now, pull out Gyokeres' stat during his cameo today. Go bring that stat please. As for subs, I'll like you to explain more.

Arsenal was just unlucky today. We tried as much as possible to contain them but one thing about playing City is you leave absolutely no room for error.

Eze messed up and Cherki practically strolled inside our box and scored. Martinelli lost Oh Really grin and they scored.

Eze and Gabi hit the post. Havertz nodded inches wide.
All in all, this is my club and I love my club in better and in worse.

BTW, that Arteta new contract go hit like crack unless he decides to leave by himself. I'll be here.

Exactly! He can't play the modern winger role at all. His defensive game is below par and to even attack he's always hiding to receive pass. He's the kind of player that likes passes to "find him out"

early in the season Ian Wright said if Gyokeres can get 15 epl goals, it would be considered a successful seaon for him. And few fans said he was looking down on Gyokeres. If Gyokeres was still in sporting by now, he would be at 30+ goals that's fact cus even his downgrade is doing better. Now imagine we signed sesko and he gave 20 goals in all competition while Gyokeres in sporting gets 40+ or 50+. One factor that a lot of people checked when signing Gyokeres (i included), was that we need a striker who is old enough, experienced enough and would go out and all to win us the league, a proven goal scorer and not sesko that is still young and will be learning on the game. But..........
Na next season we go enjoy Gyokeres more, but that will also depend on if we win this epl.
Yes...
Sesko was too young and Liepzig was demanding for outrageous fee. Gyokeres seems more experienced and has the 'mentality'. But one key point in Sesko's favour is that he suits our style better. However we have Kai so...

Bro, we all know Saka and Odegaard needs rest. He is the manager and he should know when and how to rest them, not just only Saka and Ode, but also others too. Fans can only complain when the result don't go our way. Many other matches that Saka sat out and we won none of them said anything. Our fan base is too emotional which is why we are always targeted by rivals and pundit to creat rage bait and generate traffic. Some fans just wait for one thing to go wrong before the criticise and then their criticism goes extreme because of how rivals and pundits paint it.
I don't really dig all this argument about rest and whatnot. A player who has played little minutes can still get injured. When you're at a front foot in Europe and you have City breathing down your neck, you go wan rest your best player? VVD, Benardo and the likes have been playing regularly. The only exception is if a player is injury proned. Should we even talk about injuries these guys brought home from international break.

Let's not overflog this issue. Injuries are just unfortunate situations.

Against city in the efl final khasonov won all the aerial duels Against Gyokeres and most of the ground duels without even fouling him. I was telling a Gyokeres fan this and baba wanted to turn it to an argument of leaving your best player again like kepa and Raya stance. Gyokeres isn't great with hold up play and 1v1 duels, at least kai can provide aerial threat and hold up to open up an attacker like Eze. Gyokeres is a goal poacher but take out his goals he really doesn't offer something significant to the team play, only twice have I seen him play really well all round. Kai and jesus that can play that kind of game are not clinical as him, so over all we are fuccked. No matter who starts, we should focus on winning this game, if they can't win then don't lose.
Lol they thought we're hating. Gyokeres is a poacher like you said. Maybe next season, we will tweak something for him so he can score more. I believe everyone should understand why Sesko was in the conversation then.

Wetin pain me pass na the muscle wey man gather. He shouldn't be losing duels with those muscles. 😂😂

BTW, Gyokeres should start from the bench today please. We need an aerial outlet especially with Guehi and Khusanov likely starting. Kai should start up top with Eze in #10.

Starting Gyokeres at CF and Kai in midfield will be even worse.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by mostob(m): 10:48am On Apr 19
All this talk about saka and Ode playing too much sounds funny especially considering where it is coming from. When we drew against Forest, many here swore at the manager for playing Noni and Martinelli when Saka (who should be resting) is on the bench. According to them, the coach is not serious about winning title.

MLS and Noorgard....
We all watched this two drop a stinker against Southampton. I'll give Noorgard a one off though.
Everyone has the right to criticize but please let's be consistent.

Aside the light fitness training and jogging or whatever, there are some players that should not partake in main training this coming days. Rice and Gabriel most especially. Rice was tired yesterday. It's like the illness still dey body. The club should have a dedicated massage therapists for these two.

One thing Arteta and the boys need to realize is that you can't be telling fans to bring fire, thunder brimstone, lunch, brunch, breakfast, supper and water to the stadium only to serve them a tense match.

Smash City with 3 goals in the first half and the fans will show you how dangerous they can be as the 12th man.

BTW, this season has exposed a lot of frauds in this squad. The summer should be for clear outs.

Sporting at Emirates in knockout always make me uncomfortable. I remember we suffered two massive injuries then and they still beat us via penalties.

Hopefully, the football god smiles on us tonight.
By the way, this lineup dey one kain.

Spy360:
What if Zubibis bold enough to pass it through that front four?

The fullbacks stay high, Zubi joins the CBs to form a back three with Raya that's 4v4, by this we have already overloaded the midfield 4v2
Zubi can't pass it through their press. That's not his game. Let's assume he passes the ball, Rice and Eze are not comfortable receiving with their back to goal especially Eze. Rice may try to shield the ball but he doesn't have the technical ability to maneuver.

That's why you will find Odegaard dropping so deep (inbetween the CBs) with Zubi taking Odegaard's position up top. Ode is good with passes while Zubi is good with linkup. (Although he has been too cautious lately)

Spy, even if we attempt to beat their press on the ground, we still need our striker to drop deep. If their CB follows Gyok to midfield, that would leave a space at the back. If their CB stay put, we will have plus 1 in midfield.

Don't get me wrong sha

As for Andoni, yesterday wasn't my 1st time noticing his tactical acumen. I've watched the games he gave top 6 clubs problems, how he transformed his boys sotey they attract top buyers now from Huijsen, senesi, semenyo and all.

As for Cesc, he's doing it with freedom not seen with Arteta plus some basic approach to football from Barclays era, Cesc has brought that into his current team. I've watched some games to know he's great at this.

Na from early days person dey see who fit ho marathon and that's why Lampard too is about to return to top flight as well.

Las las, Coachie don start, i believe he can spin this around. Na him dey do 4-0, 5-1 without full xi. He should be able to enact such again for next dozen games.
Oh no.. I'm not saying they're not good. Or let me rephrase. The only coach Arsenal should take out of the four is Enrique.

The expectations when you manage Bournemouth and Como is different from when you manage Arsenal. Porter was so good at Brighton. Chelsea hired him and we all know how it ends. Flick too maybe.

The issue with Arteta is that he is obsessed with structure and I think I know why.
