GeneralDae:
One thing I can say is that Madugu has slowly brought back the Nigerian style of football to the falcons (lacking since 2016) which is always big on possession and moving the ball forward but requiring some fine tuning here and there and some clinicality.

With Dennerby and Waldrum, we played defensive, tactical football.
We have not conceded any goal so far. Our issue is at the final third. That wouldn't have pose much problem if only the girls were clinical.

The issue is bringing up Randy at every opportunity like he was some sort of Pep.

Banky my gee. So you dey enter here too. Anyways, you don talk am before say Naija teams na your only football club grin

On Randy, I beg to disagree. South Africa outplayed and completely dominated us in the Aisha Buhari cup on their way to a 4 - 2 victory. Months later, the same SA still knack us 2 - 0 in our WAFCON opening game. Pray tell, did he not learn anything from the previous match against SA?

In that same WAFCON, we lost to Morocco in the semi-finals and to Zambia in the third place match to finish 4th. Throughout the tournament, Randy started deadweights like Rita Chikweku and Onome Ebi even when it was glaringly obvious that they were off-pace and were past their best.

At the world cup, we drew Canada, won Australia, drew New Zealand and lost to England.

Even when we met SA again in the Olympics qualifier, despite the Super Falcons winning 1 - 0 over the two legs, I felt SA was the better ball playing team.

This is what I remember about Waldrum, and it's an average record in my books

Madugu has not being a bad coach and the Falcons are not playing badly under him. It's just that we've lost our headstart advantage in female football. Other countries have levelled up by investing in their female football programmes. Some like Morocco & SA even have better structure, funding, planning and organization.

Also, exposure to better leagues abroad, better coaching, more competitive matches and the availability of foreign-based professionals and dual nationals to to these other teams has made them better and closed the gap on us.

So right now, the difference between the top tier african teams boils down to the quality of players, team selection and quality of coaching input, and Madugu has not being bad in this regard though I'll afmit his team selection and deployment of tactics could be better

Also, the tactics teams are deploying against us in this WAFCON is not easy to play against. Our opponents set up ultra-defensively with the intention not to play to win but to not concede against us so they pack the bus.

With Madugu, we are dominating possession and only need to work on transitioning the ball faster, and improve on our finishing. In addition, we have been defensively solid. I see promise and believe if we overcome Zambia in the Q/F, there's no stopping us and Mission X will be accomplished.

Believe!
Thank you Chief.
Now this is analysis.
The girls have been wasteful and less clinical in all the three matches played so far.

Again, them say Randy Waldrum no good 😂

I miss that man d!e, baba go don tell them wetin to do, just go sit down dey watch from bench, and they'll do it, we had a 15 game UNBEATEN run under this man, playing Haiti, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, England, Ireland and other African countries (we won New Zealand and Australia, the two World Cup hosts as at that time o).

Where I respect Randy was in that RO16 match against England wey England coach dey pace upandan, the man just still sat down chilled.

Na who no know wetin he dey do, or who no get plan na him dey shout like Madugu for touchline.
15 games unbeaten run but he couldn't win sh***

Under him, we had our poorest finish in WAFCON.

Madugu may be a poor coach but Waldrum is not it either. Na recency bias dey make us forget Randy's flaws. Let's stop bringing up Randy's name abeg. We don't get to criticize him much probably due to his colour or the fact that the fan are fascinated by anything and everything foreign.

Arteta said he prefers sesko, he led down reason and stats why sesko should be a better option for his system but didn't cancel the idea of Gyokeres at all, and everyone agreed with that. It's out in the open, no be me talk am. Now when the sesko deal was becoming more and more stressed and the player wasn't really interested, he optioned for Gyokeres and even gave a time frame for the deal to be completed so work can start with our new frontman from day one of training. All of dem board members saw the need to go for the two strikers simultaneously and it paid off exactly how they wanted it to play out. But somehow Arteta was OUTSMARTED by Berta
My brother, e no shock you? 😂😂

Joke aside, it's a common knowledge that Berta doesn't work on a single target. He usually works not only with plan B but C and D as well. Gyokeres and Sesko were not the only targets. Watkins and Retegui were also part of the negotiations.

Not professional but I totally understand. She got no service in that first half but still was part of our biggest chance. I would have been frustrated too.
Basco, i will be frustrated to if I were in her shoe but as one of the leaders of the team that was a terrible thing to do. Moreso, she was not the only one who got substituted. She should lead by example.

I'm more concerned about the mental aspect. It affected Havertz in his first few months. You have not kicked a ball for your new club and the fans are already threatening you. I got the whole Chelsea stuff but Noni is not actually a bad player. There wouldn't have been such outrage if we're paying such amount for his successor at PSV, Bakayoko.

BTW 100m for Rodrygo is a topic we should be discussing statistic-wise.

I didn't know Oshoala stormed off the pitch when she was substituted in the last game. Many obviously didn't know because no one here brought it up.

Osasu asked the coach about it and here was his response:

past exploit is what's still keeping her in the team. Storming off the pitch was a shameful decision and one that should earn her a stiff penalty. I just hope the coach has the cojones.

🚨Sporting president Varandas on Gyökeres not showing up for pre-season: “If they don't want to pay Viktor's fair market value, we're very comfortable with that for the next three years”.

“This strategy is also making it more complicated for the player to leave. Nobody is above the interests of the club. Whoever they are”.

“We're calm. Everything will be resolved with the market closing, a hefty fine and an apology to the group”.

[Fabrizio Romano]

This is getting hot.
A gentle reminder that word of mouth is not always enough.

Watch his interview, then you will understand.

He had given up hope of ever playing CL considering his age... but then at 31 Arsenal that is in CL put a call to him.

According to him, he is still trying to wake up from the dream, 'it still look unreal'.... He is one player that is totally grateful to be in the squad.
No wonder.. I'm happy for him sha

While my first choice would have been Yohan Bakayoko, but we need to understand the circumstance surrounding Madueke's transfer.

He is coming with no guarantee of starting games outrightly. There are only a handful of players that will agree to such.

Madueke ain't bad as backup for Saka but my issue with him is his ocassional selfish play. Just like someone said up there, the 50m no be my money...

All good

I find this match frustrating... Na little dose of patriotism made me finish the first half.

1. The calamitous misses
2. Botswana falling over the pitch. Ref don call for treatment 20 times in first half alone
3. And the ref.... Oh.. Let me stop here
