sheyman00: every member of my family uses mtn, where do we begin Begin by "porting" to any other network, which has been made really easy and free. Just walk into the network office of your choice and tell them what u want to do. I hope this doesnt derail the thread. Sorry. |

IamDelilah: Good day all.
I have interest in Human Resources, and would love to build a career in it. I intend to register for CIPM so i could start taking the exams in August. But I don't really understand how to go about it.
1) Once I've registered, how/where will I get my materials? 2) Where would I have preparation classes? 3) Do I also have to pay for the classes, or are they included in the whole registration process? 4) Is the Registration just for the exam, or as a student? 5) When should I register if I plan to sit for August exam?
Kindly help. Thank you. Hi there... Once u complete registration online, u print ur payment slip and take it to their office in ikeja, close to lagos state secretariat. You'd collect ur study pack there and u could buy past questions too (around 100 naira or so ) There are cipm acredited centers, a simple google search and you'd find them. There are several centres, its better to pick a center closer to you, to save on transportation n time. Yes u have to pay for classes, n price differs, but approximately btn 25k to 35k, depends on d location. You hv to register frst as a student member, then you will b able to register for exams and pick your preferred diet. Im not sure when the portal will be open for august diet reg, but anytime from now, since feb exams are over. So just keep checking. But u can begin by registering as a student frst. U can register for the exams anytime before august. Hope this helps. |

hardbody: Thanks bro. I am pretty certain it would. I will invest with your likes and grow my own investments. That way it's a win win situation. We certainly can't all aspire to be entrepreneurs although it's a good way to go too. True, not everyone can pull it off. All the best in your endeavors |

LaurelP: Broo, its not about fear. Its more about using ur head, taking CALCULATED risks. I've heard people say something like "After all Bill Gates dropped out of school, I don't need to go to school". You'd be foolish to say this if u are in Nigeria and u don't have a concrete plan or a reason why u need to drop out. I heard that Seun also dropped out but am sure he knew what he was gonna do and probably had already started practising it.
My point is, don't just do things becos u heard or saw someone else do it. Have a reason and a plan. Again I say, don't just quit ur job anyhow in Nigeria with no backup plan. Well said. There must be a feasible plan. Would be very unwise to do so wthout it. |

This is great, you made salient points Op. But like they say, talk is cheap. In my opinion, most people pickup "entrepreneurship" just for the convenience of having quick returns, and this is very unstable. I have seen people who dont even know the difference between the profit they made from certain ventures, and the money they were supposed to re invest. Most people take it all as profit and just enjoy the fact tht it sometimes comes in lump sums. Id say, people need to learn the difference between Entrepreneurship, and engaging in Temporary profitable ventures. The former requires proper systems and processes. Also, a trustworthy team with a shared vision is needed cos no 1 can handle all the responsibilities alone. It takes time, it takes patience and alota zeal, but if done properly, it works. Truth is, there is no comfort in Entrepreneurship, it actually requires more efforts. Only good things are flexibility, watching your creation come to life and answering to yourself... |

hardbody: I am sooooooooo not quiting my regular employment until I have made piles of money and huge investments in estates and cash reserves. This job is paying my bill's and providing for tons of others. This job fuels my car's, got me a 13. 5KVA gen, provides 200 litres of diesel to run it monthly, gives me access to Ikoyi Club.... endless opportunities. I will only leave when practice can provide a back up while my investments continue to multiply and take care of this life style I have grown to have.
I don't plan to be a hero in suffering. Lol. That's another way to go, leveraging on your current cash flow to make certain calculated investments. Hopefully it'ld workout really well for you. |
