It all started few years ago. We met as sophomores in the university. She was full of life and cheerful. She celebrates people and drives joy in seeing people succeeding. She doesn’t hold grudges and never have I seen her having a squabble with anyone. She forgives when people trespasse against her. She is a beautiful girl. The type that everyman would want to have something doing with.

The Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University Lokoja, Senator Chris Adigije, has announced the appointment of Professor Olayemi Rotimi Akinwumi as the new Vice Chancellor of the University.


Professor Olayemi Akinwumi is a Distinguished Professor of History at Nasarawa State University,Keffi, Nigeria since 2005. He had his higher education at the University of Ilorin where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in 1985 followed by Master’s and PhD degrees in History in the same university. He is a Fellow of the Historical Society of Nigeria (HSN), and former President of the Historical Society, the first Academic Society in Nigeria.

Professor Olayemi Akinwumi began his academic career at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria and rose to become a senior Lecturer in 1996. He was at the Institut fur Ethonogie, Freie Universitat, Berlin from 1999 to 2004. He joined and has been in the services of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi since 2004.

NUC APPROVES ESTABLISHMENT OF CUSTECH, KOGI STATE AS THE 50TH STATE UNIVERSITY IN NIGERIA

The National Universities Commission (NUC) on Tuesday granted approval and recognition for the establishment of Confluence University of Science and Technology, (CUSTECH) Osara, Kogi State as the new addition to the list of State owned Universities in Nigeria.

Speaking while reading out the letter of recognition for the institution’s establishment at the NUC office in Abuja, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Rasheed noted that the newly recognized State University would have the maximum support of the commission.

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello on Tuesday joined his Ondo State counterpart, Rotimi Akeredolu on his campaign train to Owo ahead of the forthcoming election in the state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Saturday, October 10 for the Ondo governorship election.

Governor Bello who was in the state to drum support for Akeredolu ahead of the election, urged Kogi residents in the state, the people of Owo and Ondo in general to re-elect Governor Akeredolu by voting APC in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the sunshine state.

The state institution Prince Abubakar Audu University which was formerly known as Kogi state university has concluded to resume all activities after a meeting held with all stake holders of the universities today being 11th of September.

The Governor who was accompanied by his Deputy, Edward Onoja; Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Mathew Kolawole and other top government officials, also inspected some of the facilities and equipment on ground as well as other ongoing projects.

Governor Bello in his remarks lauded the Acting Rector, Dr. Usman Ogbo for his effective and foresight leadership, noting that under straining financial circumstances, he has turned “lemon into lemonade” within his short stay in office.
