DMGS to represent Anambra at the 8th edition of NILDS Quiz

Students of Dennis Memorial Grammar school Onitsha will be representing Anambra state at the 8th edition of the National Quiz Competition on Legislature and Democracy organized by National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), National Assembly on 16th November, 2023.

The highly competitive quiz which was held recently in the ASUBEB complex, Awka to select Anambra representative had six schools drawn from the Anambra North, Anambra South and Anambra central senatorial zones. The schools that competed were Dennis Memorial Grammar school Onitsha, Grundtvig Secondary school, Oba; British Spring schools, Awka; Nnewi High School Nnewi; Maria Regina Secondary school; Regent School Onitsha.

Students from DMGS won the third round of the quiz competition to beat their counterparts from British Spring schools Awka, and Grundvig Secondary school Oba, who came second and third respectively. Kickstarting the quiz competition after reading out the rules and regulations for the competition, the Anambra state coordinator of the NILDS quiz Mrs Uche Okechukwu, noted that the competition which is holding in all the 36 states of federation serves as an opportunity to expose the young minds to the basic knowledge of the legislature.

Addressing the students before the quiz started, the Quiz Master Dr Austine Osigwe noted that the questions were sealed and noted that the competition will be fair and transparent. The commissioner for education Anambra state Prof Ngozi Chuma Ude represented by the Mrs Onyeneke the Director of educational services congratulated DMGS for winning the competition and hopes that they will win at the finals.

In its 8th edition, the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), hosted by Prof Abubakar O. Suleiman will have the Zonal stage of the competition on November 2nd while Final will be November 16, 2023 at the House of Assembly complex, Abuja.

NILDS
