I hope this works fingers crossed

It turns out that Nairaland blocks links that is suspects to be spam and this includes link shorteners like bitly that tends to be used to hide spam links. Mine is just for shortening the link though. I posted the direct link and it worked.
Business / Re: How Much Can Person Use To Start Up A Business Shop Like This? (SEE PHOTO) by mrdigitalm: 12:56pm On Jan 18
Let me speak my own English.

I am a visibility expert for location-based businesses and have also done business consulting for businesses just starting. While I may not be able to tell you the exact cost, I just want to point out some areas you should not miss out in your calculation.

1. The cost of setting up the store. Store rent aside, you see those wooden racks? The one where the products are arranged? It cost money. You see the tiled floor? The painting? They cost money. What about the billboard you would put outside? It cost money. You may need to even do some extra constructions or installations in your shop. Some of these things may already be in the store you rent, and some of them are very affordable. But make sure you are putting the cost of setting up the store into consideration when you look at your situation.

2. Security. Depending on your area, bad boys will always abound. From the picture, a shop like this looks like it will be in a local area. You may need to install "protector gates" if not installed, or just get a shop that already has one. Some stores even install in their roofs too. So either get a very secure store, or calculate the cost of installing any extra security.

3. Operating equipments. Do you need a fridge? Will you have a generator? Factor this in.
4. Operating costs. You may be focused on the capital cost alone, but it's good to also have operating cost set aside as your business will not make enough profit immediatley. Costs like light bill and/or fuel expenses if you will be running a generator. Will community boys make demands or any other body make demands in your area? Will you employ a salesgirl, or you will be the one there? Are there another costs you will pay on a monthly basis? Having at least 6months of this as part of your capital will help your business thrive.

Consider any other subtle cost that you may not be thinking of, aside from rent and products.

But then again, all these is just plenty English. You can really start any business without needing a huge capital and putting every single thing in place. But make sure you are starting what you can finish. Always have a plan B and a backup fund. Most businesses fail because they expect their business to succeed too quickly. It takes time, keep this in mind.

Travel Ads / #onestepsmarter Makes Getting Home Tutor Affordable For Nigerians Living Abroad by mrdigitalm: 3:57am On Jan 06
As a Nigerian now living abroad, how much do you think it costs to get a private tutor for your child in the UK, Canada, the US, etc.?
Here is the answer - $40 - $150 per hour. That's roughly N40000 to N150000 just for one hour of private tutoring for your child.

If you think I am lying, check out the screenshot attached below from a Google search.

So how exactly do Nigerians living abroad afford private tutoring for their children? I'd like to hear all of your replies. But first, let me talk about one program I just found out recently. Disclaimer - this is one of my clients and I built a landing page for them.

Introducing - the #OneStepSmarter program - private lessons for Nigerian kids living in the diaspora. This is the best way to get private tutors at an affordable rate.

How exactly do they do this? The reason private tutoring is expensive in the UK, Canada, in the US e.t.c is because in-person lessons over there require more resources. Imagine having to pay your rent as a tutor living in the UK and charging less than $40 per hour. So what #oneStepSmarter does is bring together well-qualified tutors living in Nigeria, where the cost of living is lower. These tutors are not cheap - you still get to pay these tutors a considerable amount of money. But considering the exchange rate and the cost of living in Nigeria, what #oneStepSmarter charges for tutoring fees is far more affordable than what an in-person tutor will charge you in the UK, Canada, the US e.t.c

So how are the classes done? Online. Are online classes better than in-person tutoring? Let me borrow a quote from #OneStepSmarter's landing page to explain

In-person private lessons have their advantages, and so do online classes. ✅ First, when it comes to online classes, you don't have to worry about the security and privacy of your child, especially when you are not home.

✅ Second, online classes are far more affordable than in-person classes, especially the instructor fees.

✅ Third, online classes are more flexible. It's easier to reschedule an online class than an in-person class. You can even schedule your online classes for times that would have been inconvenient if it had been an in-person class.

Online classes come with one more advantage - they help your child get used to using technology very effectively. CNN, one of the most trusted media outlets in the world, has reported that "technology-led learning is becoming the norm" (check attached screenshot below). Do you want your child to be left behind? If no, then join #oneStepSmarter

So how much do they actually charge?
According to them, it depends on how many sessions you are going for and how many kids you are enrolling. But it certainly isn't a $40 - $150 fee that others are charging.

My point overall is this - if you want to get affordable private tutors for your child as a Nigerian living abroad, you should get an online private tutor. Personally, I can vouch for the #oneStepSmarter program as one way to achieve this. You can check out their landing page to get more details. Autos / Where To Buy Engine Oil (in Warri) & How To Know Superior One From Fake One by mrdigitalm: 5:52pm On Dec 09, 2023
If you run generators, diesel engines, and other types of engines that use engine or lubricant oil, you should not just go to the market to buy any type of oil. Why? Because bad/inferior oil can spoil your engine and cost you thousands of naira.

In this post, you learn how to find a good place to buy quality oil and how to know which is inferior quality.

First, if you want to find a place to buy engine oil and lubricants near you, make sure you do a thorough search. Ask friends and family for recommendations. An easier way will be to check online for oil and lubricant suppliers near you. But here is what most people don't do when they search online - they don't check for reviews. So make sure you check for reviews from their buyers to see if what they sell is superior and there are no complaints.

If you live in Warri, or anywhere close by in Delta state, Ovoil is one of the top dealers in Warri for oil and lubricants. I have worked directly with them, which is why I am focusing this post on their business. You can check them out on Google maps and see what their customers are saying. Use this link - https://maps.app./c449dnAYFpfN7SZA9

Now, let's talk about how to know superior engine oil from inferior one.

1. Observe the smell. If you are new to buying engine oil, make sure you get used to the smell after the first few times of buying your oil. Superior oil has a unique smell, and so does inferior engine oil. If you use a particular engine oil from a particular dealer, and it eventually turns out to be superior, take note of the smell. This way, when you buy engine oil from a different supplier, you'll quickly know if they sold a fake one for you.

2. Buy from the same supplier. It is the effect of the oil on your engine that will determine if it is superior or not. If you buy from the same dealer consistently, you can observe how the oil affects your engine over time. And if it develops a fault, you'll know the exact supplier that caused it. But if you keep buying from different suppliers, you'll end up not knowing which particular oil caused damage to your engine.

3. Your engine always knows when the oil is of low quality. No matter the explanation your mechanic gives you, take note that good-quality engine oil causes no damage to your engine. So if your engine keeps breaking down without a good explanation, it's a sign of bad engine oil.

In conclusion, search online and look for good reviews to find an engine oil supplier near you. And also check the quality of the oil using these 3 things we've mentioned in this article.

If you live in Warri or close by, call Ovoil Services Nigeria Limited for your quality oil. They also deliver to places outside Warri if you want outside delivery. Use this link to visit their Google business profile - https://maps.app./c449dnAYFpfN7SZA9

Career / My Name Is Mr Digital Mechanic And This Is What I Do. by mrdigitalm: 9:06am On Dec 09, 2023
My name is Paul, also known as Mr Digital Mechanic.

My work is simple - I help location-based businesses set up their business online and get more visibility. Let me explain.

Imagine Kunle. Kunle travels to a new city, let’s say Lagos. He doesn’t know anywhere in Lagos but he wants to try out new places, especially a new restaurant. What is the easiest way for Kunle to find a restaurant near him? The answer - he can simply search Google.

If you are a restaurant I can make sure that when Kunle types "top restaurants in Lagos", your restaurant will show up among the top results.

I can do this for any other business that has a physical location.

I can handle this on a contract basis or a full time job. I do all my work remotely.

This is my first post on Nairaland, and is a way of introducing myself and what I do.

Follow my account if you want business tips that can help you gain more visibility online.

I will constantly update this thread to describe my work more, and the experiences and lessons I gather in the course of it.
