Former governor of Gombe state, Dankwambo has mocked the All Progressive Congress, APC ahead of Kogi state governorship election.

Dankwambo, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party called out Governor Yahaya Bello over his inability to pay salaries of workers in the state.

He wondered why APC will field Bello as its candidate and want him re-elected despite owing salaries.

The former governor said this on his official Twitter page with the caption...

APC wants Kogi people to vote their candidate who is owing workers over 30 months salaries despite bailout funds while at the same time asking Bayelsans to vote out PDP where civil servants are not being owed & where our party has performed excellently well.

No sign of governance in Kogi in the last 4yrs. No single project done there despite billions from federal allocation and bailout but same party want Bayelsans not to vote our party despite our great exploits in the state.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has appointed his wife, Tamunominini Makinde, to head the Board of the Oyo State Agency for the Control of AIDS (SACA).

The agency is responsible for the control of AIDS in the state.

Makinde while inaugurating the board on Tuesday noted that dealing with the scourge of AIDS “is of utmost importance to his administration.”

Governor Makinde stated that though there had been some progresses with regards to anti-retroviral medication, abstinence from sex remained the best way to control the spread of AIDS.

Apart from his wife who will chair the board, another member of the board included Dr. Lanre Abass who serves as Executive Secretary

LAGOS GETS NEW ACCOUNTANT GENERAL

…Sanwo-Olu Inaugurates Committees On Schools Rehabilitation, Project Audit

…Governor Appoints Perm Sec For Ministry Of Health, Redeploys Three Others

Dr. Shefiu Abiodun Muritala, on Monday, took the oath as new Accountant General of Lagos State. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu swore in the Accountant General at an event held at the State House in Alausa.

The Governor also appointed Dr. Olusegun Ogboye as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, while approving the redeployment of the Permanent Secretary of the State Treasury Office (STO), Mrs. Shukurat Umar, to Office of the Debt Management.

Muritala, a PhD holder in Strategic Management and General Manager (Finance) of the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation (LSDPC), will double as Permanent Secretary in the State Treasury Office.

Ogboye succeeded Dr. Titilayo Goncalves, who is retiring from civil service tomorrow after 35 years of service.

The event also featured inauguration of Standing Committee on Rehabilitation of Public Schools (SCRPS) in Lagos, and the appointment of members of Committee on Project, Finance and Process Compliance Audit.

Governor Sanwo-Olu said the choice of the appointees to positions of Permanent Secretary and Accountant General spoke to his administration’s vision for economic growth plan and wellbeing of the residents, noting that the appointees’ selection was based on their competence and track records in service delivery.

The Governor charged the new appointees to align their activities with the development agenda of his administration, stressing that their engagements must simplify governance and promote professionalism in civil service.

He said: “The sectors, which you are appointed to supervise, are critical to the realisation of our administration’s development vision. I believe you will justify the confidence of Lagosians and put in your very best. We hope your best would improve service delivery to every citizen of Lagos State.

“It is only when we have right people in right places, that’s when the true dividends of democracy can be felt by the people. We are in government because we want to remove red tape slowing down governance and make life better for our citizens. We are in government because we want to build a tomorrow that is better than the one we see today. We have capacity to surmount our challenges and make our State better for living.”

While presenting members of the committees for inauguration by the Governor, the Head of Service (HOS), Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, disclosed that SCRPS, headed by Mr. Hakeem Smith, was initiated to comprehensively address the extensive dilapidation of physical infrastructure in Lagos schools.

Muri-Okunola added that the Committee would undertake a detailed assessment of the structural, electrical and environmental rehabilitation required in public schools across the State.

The HOS said the Committee on Project, Finance and Process Compliance Audit, which is chaired by Mrs. Josephine Williams, would be assisting the Government in obtaining evidence based baseline status report on on-going infrastructure works, as well as on the state of Government finances.

Besides, the Committee will be examining the level of compliance with established financial procedures with regards to expenditure, approvals and public procurement in the last 10 years.

Activities and recommendations of the two Committees shall be subjected to the authorisation of Governor Sanwo-Olu, the HOS said.

Muri-Okunola announced the redeployment of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation, Mr. Wale Musa, to the Office of Chief of Staff, while Mr. Oluseyi Whenu moves to the Ministry of Transportation.

The Governor said the constitution of the Committees was necessitated by the desire to deliver his promises to the residents, charging members to discharge their duties in the best interest of the State.

He said: “The determination of achieving ‘Greater Lagos’ agenda is not by lip service, but by discharging quality service. The assignments before the Committees are not to be delayed; we expect the Committees would come up with actions and suggestions that can be used to improve governance.”

Apart from infrastructure, Sanwo-Olu said SCRPS would be working with the Ministry of Education to address the challenges of training, curriculum, and development of teachers to turn around education in the State.

Other members of the SCRPS include: Engr. Yetunde Holloway, Arc Adebanjo Adedaramola, and Mr Babatunde Rajh-Label.

Also, Project Audit committee members include Hon. Justice Yetunde Idowu, Engr. Tayo Bamgbose-Martins and Mr. Folusho Mustapha.

A church protocol officer in the habit of luring church girls to hotels and taking their nude photographs subsequently using the photographs to blackmail them in exchange for money has been arrested in Lagos.

The suspect, Victor Duru, a Madonna University drop out was arrested in Surulere on Thursday, after repeatedly blackmailing his church member and girlfriend.

One of his girlfriends, name withheld, whose pictures he had taken in conjunction with his friend at gun point while lodging her in an hotel in Ijeshatedo called at RRS Headquarter to report her experience.

Duru, 23 years old and a protocol officer at a new generation church (name withheld) based in Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos was investigated and discovered to have been using the nude photographs of his girlfriend to blackmail her in exchange for money.

It was also discovered that the suspect was keeping the nude photographs of other girls while lodging them in hotels and his apartment in Ijeshatedo.

Sources revealed that the suspect obtained the nude photographs of the victim with the assistance of a third party at gun – point while there is a growing suspicion that Duru also laced the drink of another girl with sleeping drug as the photographs obtained from one of his mobile phones revealed.

The suspect in his disclosure stated “she was my girlfriend. We are same church member. We have been dating for almost two years. We were having break up issues.

So, I invited her to an hotel in Ijeshatedo. I excused myself and invited my friend, Frank Obinna, to meet me in the hotel.
Obinna and I had this planned together.

The gun was a toy gun. He entered the hotel room and held the lady at gun point. I told her to co –operate, naked her for Obinna to take her pictures. We took seven different shots of her in the nude with my phone. I discharged her that day. This was in September.”

He continued, “by early October, 2019, I called her to give me N80,000 or I would throw the nude photographs online. She was only able to offer me N10,000, which she transferred into my brother’s account.

Last week, Obinna called her again and requested for N40,000. She promised to send something. She was a wonderful girl that had been assisting me before the problem started. On many occasions, she has assisted me financially”.

Duru, it was gathered attempted to escape from police custody in handcuffs while police were trying to effect the arrest of his accomplice, Frank Obinna in Ijeshatedo.

The victim, in her statement to the police alleged that she thought Duru’s friend was a waiter when he entered their hotel room. “He brought out his phone, I was asking my boyfriend what was going on, he slapped me telling me to remove the blanket covering my body.

I refused. He dragged it out my body telling me to co–operate. I refused again. He asked his friend for the gun threatening that I cooperate.

His friend took several shots of my nude. Both of them abandoned me at the hotel room after.
I asked him almost a week after what he wanted to do with my photos and he told me that it was the beginning.

The following Saturday, he threatened to put the photos online unless I pay N80,000 in order to delete them. I paid N10,000 with a promise to pay the balance afterwards.”

She added “after a week, his friend called me offering another option for me to pay him N40,000 and a night with him. I refused. He threatened that I would hear from them very soon”.

Source added that some of the ladies whose nude photographs were found on his phone when contacted by the police to come forward in order to prosecute the suspect declined to push for a case.

The suspect along with some of the exhibits recovered from him (toy gun, mobile phones containing the nudes of the ladies have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti for further investigations.

Commenting on the development, Commissioner of Police, CP Zubairu Muazu urged parents to warn their wards to watch the kind of company they keep.

In its war against internet fraud across the country, the Abuja Zonal office of the EFCC, on Thursday, October 31, 2019, raided the residences of suspected yahoo-yahoo fraudsters at Block E, Flat 1, KAPLAN Estate, Katampe Abuja. Six suspects were arrested in the operation.

Those arrested were: Chukwuebuka Temple Ohanse, Uriel Sunday Bassey, Stanley Wisdom, ADEJUYIGBE Andrew, Daniel Uduoroborie and Godfrey Bassey. Some of the items recovered include several mobile phones, laptop computers, and 2 cars. They will be charged to court soon.
