Justice Chima Nweze better not joke with this matter. The Yoruba Actor must serve jail time for crime as a deterrent to others.

Baba Suwe Urges Appeal Court To Affirm N25m Judgment

Yoruba actor, Babatunde Omidina, popularly called Baba Suwe, has urged the Court of Appeal, Lagos to affirm the judgment of a Lagos High Court, Ikeja awarding him N25m compensation for his wrongful detention by the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency in 2011.

The Justice Chima Nweze-led appeal reserved the case for judgment after parties adopted their briefs of argument on Thursday.

Nweze said the date for delivering judgment would be communicated to the lawyers representing the two parties.

Omidina’s counsel, Mr. Bamidele Aturu, at the hearing of the case, said the entire appeal by NDLEA was “unmeritorious” and urged the appellate court to uphold the judgment of the lower court.

But counsel for the NDLEA, Mr. Femi Oloruntoba, further justified the action of the agency detaining Omidina upon suspicion of drug ingestion for a total of 24 days from October 13 to November 4, 2011.

In adopting the agency’s five ground-appeal, Oloruntoba asked the Justice Chima Nweze-led appeal panel, to set aside the lower court’s judgment, saying the verdict was not in agreement with the evidence the parties put before the trial judge.

PoliticsRe: Sam Omatseye, Under-Fire For Column On Achebe by MrGlobe(m): 12:09am On Apr 09, 2013
I dare say ndi ofe media did a nice job of hoodwinking Nigerians into thinking the Nobel prize the ultimate and only prize for literature. An award that has no financial or credibility value.

dayokanu: So Dele Olojede "accidentally" won the Pulitzer again. When would your own people start winning accidentally

Or capitalize on something even if its Biafra genocide, erosion in Biafra, Kidnapping in Biafra, Drug Pushing by Biafrans anything to win those prizes?

we are talking literature here not some journalist capitalizing on the rwanda genocide to win an award he shared with another journalist as a compensation for Africa like Soyinka (no disrespect to baba soyinka)

Guess what he told me about nigerian authors? "he said the only nigerian author i know is the guy with big afro that won nobel laureate grin grin"
And so how is Achebe more popular and relevant internationally than all ndi ofe combined? Is awo known outside the borders of yorubaland?

kettykin: Those folks are the most Gullible folks ever if the Nobel Price was so real and fantastic how come their Demigod Awolowo did not win a Nobel price for peace for his self acclaimed administrative prowess and free education
Someone needs to slap ndi ofe back to 1916 where they rightfully belong for the good of the world. If the Nobel prize was that relevant, the international media would have debated why Achebe did not win it when he died as that is the order. But not one mention. Only ndi ofe obsessed themselves with it.
