PDP is running about like a headless chicken and just like a chicken with its head cut off, it is giving its last dance before death.

For your information, they did not fix those items that were removed. They were all fixed by the previous land lord.
Don't take it lightly with those people. Go and report them to the police. Let them return those things stolen and leave your house immediately.

People need to understand that their actions have legal consequences.

I would suffer, deprive myself and buy a house in these times and sitting tenants are stripping my property of fittings?

Them never born that tenant well.

You failed to asked an important question:
Were they the ones that fixed those properties?
Some landlord have this negligence habit, if you rent a faulty apartment and you fixed everything yourself without the landlord seeing the expense as part of your rent... when I'm leaving I'm removing everything.
That is the most important question the story throws up.

So police would just go,arrest tenants and detain them on suspicion without evidence?
This is how you lots put some policemen in trouble.
What if it's the agent that's even involved in the stealing?
He should just either notify the police formally of theft of materials and allow them do their job,or if the stolen materials ain't that much, seek the services of one of the neighborhood watch to look after the property till d tenants move out and he completes the renovation.
There are consequences to detaining people illegally, particularly if u are unfortunate to meet one with superior connections when the question of if proper police procedure was involved. You would be shocked how those same policemen you bribed to detain people illegally would turn against you.
Thread carefully and lawfully.
Illegal detention?
You think the matter would be reported via Watsapp chat?
Or you think we're talking of illegal duty policemen here?
Even if the investigation by the police takes long, does it stop them from going to jail?

The first question is this: the things they are removing, are they theirs?

Even if it is the seller that is removing them, if he removes it without the knowledge and consent of the owner, he too would be jailed for theft.

People think they are being smart by stealing, that's why they carry normal Naija criminal attitudes abroad and end up in prison.

Do you know what the law says about theft, burglary, robbery and vandalism?

If convicted, they are looking at 7 years for some of these offences. God help them if they are in Lagos. Minimum time they would come out is 2027 cos their trial would start 2020.

Make them continue dey thief.

This is wickedness.

Write a petition to the Area Commander of the Police Command nearest to that place and submit like on a Wednesday. Ask the police to pick them on a Friday so that they can spend the weekend in detention.

Very early on Monday morning, they should be charged to court. They would be remanded in Prison for at least a month. Courts are soon going on vacation so they would spend from now till around November in prison.

By the time they come out, they would learn 3 things.
1. The importance of freedom, sunlight and free air.
2. The importance of honesty and honest labour.
3. The fear of God..

Actually, there's nothing that can't be done online.
Ever heard of drinks.ng?

Seriously though, bars are usually lucrative businesses. Location is just the issue.

How does one deal with this issue of sales personeel theft , especially when you are not physically present to man them?
Today, people use CCTVs and cash registers. Back then, my mom had to resign from paid employment and face her shop squarely. She made more money managing her shop than where she resigned from.

She won't have known this if I didn't accidentally manage the shop that day.

I mentioned the name of a startup in Kaduna handling payments of more than 1 billion and working out of a virtual office in Kaduna.

You don't need to rent an office to obtain CBN licence to engage in payments as a startup, there are smarter ways to ensure compliance with the law.

The worst extortion is that of the sales boy or girl. Those ones will just crumble ur biz in a blink of an eye
When I was younger, my mum had a shop in Festac. When I finished my JSS3 exams, the sales girl there came to drop key one day that she's not working again. I just took the key and went to the shop, opened it and sat there myself. That day, i made an amount that was higher than any amount sold there by the previous salespeople.

We all thought it was by chance but the pattern continued. That week, i sold quite well and the high amounts declared was consistent. That was when it became apparent that those there before were under declaring sales.

Wrong theories and assumptions you introduced here.
Also who told you 20 million people don't cook at home
I doubt if you've ever run a single profitable enterprise in your life.

All the top eateries and fast foods businesses in Nigeria today started from Lagos.

Fan milk is in Ibadan, their largest market is in Lagos. Gala by Uac foods sells more in Lagos than the other 35 states combined.

So, you'll cook breakfast and lunch at home before leaving by 5am for work and carry 2 lunchboxes to work?

No person living in Lagos would make the ignorant statement you just made. Sit at home and be cooking beans while others are in VI, Apapa, Ikoyi, Ikeja making money.

To start a payment integrator or a FinTech company, the fintech firm needs a license from CBN and partnership with all banks. Which serious bank will give you that partnership without a physical location? So when did the bold ever happen?
I have forgotten the name of that particular startup but I remember it handles payroll for companies. Crossed a billion Naira processed last year and that's when I heard about it.

Let me give you another example that clears your doubts.
Payant crossed 1 Billion in payments being processed and they work out of a virtual office in Kaduna.

Bro, i advise tech companies and there's an easy and faster way my clients comply with the requirements in your opening paragraph. I won't state that here.

Why do you think online stores are littered on every nooks and crannies of social media?
I remember renting a shop in 2011..naive me!

All the money I gathered from selling my products online, I carry am give agent and landlord. I fix and repair and up to TASTE.. spent all my money making the shop look attractive and all..
Hmmmm... I dey remember this thing I wan cry sef cry

In one week nobody has checked to see what I sell. Na products wey I no get them go dey ask me.
I was still managing my online store as that one was bringing small change.
After 6 months, I couldn't even make the transportation fare I spend from my house to the store anymore. Then I knew.. This shop matter no dey part of my destiny at all at all!

I sublet the shop to an interested person, moved all my products to my house. But I felt horrible and almost depressed everyday I wake up to see my products in my room.

But hey! It's 8years now and I still won't take a shop!! Maybe when I blow well sha.

Truth is if you don't have a strong financial backup, don't even bother renting a shop.
There is a payment startup that clocked 1Billion Naira worth of payments processed last year. As at when they clocked a billion Naira, they didn't rent an office, they were working online and from a virtual office.

In this Lagos, except you have compelling reasons to open an offline store, it is better to stay online and advertise vigorously. If you have orders, use delivery bikes. If you have meetings, use taxify.
BusinessRe: Why Is It So Difficult Having A Shop In Lagos? by MrMcJay(m): 3:34pm On Jun 18, 2019
This calculation shows the person doesn't know how to run a business.

Deduct Transportation cost of 5k, it shouldn't be added to your shop costs.
Deduct 5k for Shop permit. Divide 5k by 12, that's 416.6 Naira per month.

Your costs are still very very reasonable in a city like Lagos. If it's too much, consider switching to a food or food-related business. Food business is lucrative in Lagos. 20M hungry people is a market you should look at.

There is nothing wrong with being skeptical of a mouth watering job presented by some stranger on facebook. If you were in her shoes, wouldn't you be skeptical and be on alert for a possible fraud? If no, then you are an idi0t. You gave up so easily in your story that I suspect you are a shady person who cooked up such story to fool gullible nairalanders. Do you know what it means in this hard time for some stranger to hook you up on facebook and offer you a 200k+ job? undecided

Your story makes no sense. Even when she apologised and gave a very sound and reasonable excuse for her behaviour, why didn't you give her the job knowing fully well her behaviour was understandable? What stopped you from giving her the job? If indeed you like to help people, why didn't you give her the job since you know that she and her elder ones needed it to survive? Oga, you are probably a fraudster.

Beside, how is it a show of pride and arrogance to be skeptical of a sudden offer of a mouth watering job directed to her by some stranger on facebook? How? Either you really want to help her or not. There are three explanations for you absurd story:
1) you are plain silly.
2) you are conceited and comfortable on your high horse, or
3) your story is made up to fool and defraud desperate and gullible nairalanders.

On a close analysis, your are a fraudster.

Her reaction and claim about internet scammers were very understandable.
Lack of decorum, ignorance and a useless sense of entitlement has robbed a lot of young people from fantastic opportunities.

You, my friend are calling me a liar, but I'm not perturbed. Cynicism is very typical of those who miss opportunities. Start with cynicism, end with regrets.

You're advising her to do the bolded but when he eventually finds out, you'll turn around to start blaming her.

Madam, ask your husband to provide a cab to take you to for your ante-natal appointments and let him pay. When you need to go somewhere stressful, ask him to get you a cab and pay.

He's not thinking about a car cos he hasn't seen the need for it. Make him see the need for a car. A car for a family man is very important.
