Politics / Tinubu Urged To Set Up Charity Trust Fund, Honor Prof Umerah In Cabinet by mrpossiboo(m): 11:09am On Mar 21
To stem the economic downtown beyond palliatives, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was on Wednesday urged to establish a National Charity Trust Fund, (NCTF) to raise money from privileged Nigerians and philanthropists.

The fund, according to Patriotic Nigerians Forum (PNF) led by Eric Oluwole said the fund should be used to meet the essential needs of the poorest people, especially orphans.

While speaking to journalists in Lagos State, Oluwole hinted that Nigeria can raise no fewer than N5trillion through a charity fund raising to help the poor, saying that Nigeria has no fewer than 5000 Philanthropic individuals and organisations who can donate freely to help the social safety net of the Federal Government.

The group eaually commended the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for dealing with the very messy economic situation he inherited.

‘We call on him to, as part of the ways to revamp the economy, bring all Philanthropic organisations and individuals in Nigerian together in a round table. Each year, Mr President should appeal to them to make year contributions into a Charity Trust Fund, (CTF).

Oluwole explained that the fund should be used to address the plight of poor children across the country. From our research, there are about 2000 philanthropic individuals and organisations in Nigeria each of which is in a position to raise up to 20m every year to support the fund. This fund can hit N4trillion from this fund.

The group called on President Tinubu to establish the Office of Philanthropy Commission with a Special Adviser who will coordinate Nigerian philanthropists all over the world for effective fund raising for the prosperity, peace and stability of Nigeria.

The PNF President Mr Eric Oluwole also called on the President to honour an outstanding American based philanthropist who is a Professor of Medicine from Imo State, Prof Emeka Umerah. He is reputed to run one of the largest orphanages in Nigeria.

According to him "We demand from Federal Government to honour and recognize someone like Professor Emeka Umerah based on his impact to the masses, for him to serve more."

"We challenge our media friends to call out to other philanthropists in the country to do more in order to bridge the widening gap of poverty and bring hope to a huge but despairing population of children without parents all over Nigeria."

"This fund should be used to address the plight of poor children across the country. From our research, there are about 2000 philanthropic individuals and organisations in Nigeria each of which is in a position to raise up to 20m every year to support the fund. This fund can hit N4trillion from this fund."

"We call on President Tinubu to establish the Office of Philanthropy Commission with a Special Adviser who will coordinate Nigerian philanthropists all over the world for effective fund raising for the prosperity, peace and stability of Nigeria."

Oluwole also expressed concern on how Nigerians are passing through very difficult moments, he said on the economic front, living and coping with the harsh realities have become extremely difficult. Many have lost their jobs. Some factories have closed down while some are planning to do so. There are historical explanations for the downtown.

He revealed that apart from years of misrule, the economic situation in the country was compounded by the 2023 naira swap which led to the closure of 2million Small and Medium Scale Enterprises, (SMS).

His words "Many Nigerians were forced to return their little earned money to their banks but returning the money back to them became difficult. Many poor traders lost out during this terrific Naira swap window. This was made even more difficult due to the removal of oil subsidy by the Government of President Mohammadu Buhari having stopped in the 2-023 budget the funding of oil subsidy from June last year. The removal was sudden, so also were the implications spontaneous.’"

He said the problem in Nigeria is complicate by insecurity which has led to many deaths and killings with many children becoming orphans.

"There is violence in the land, he said. He observed that the major victims of this trend are Nigerian youths who constitute about 70 percent of the population. This population are people under 30 while some 42 percent are under 15 years. The harsh economy hits children like a hot knife. Worst are orphans. In Nigeria, there is an estimated population of 17.5 million orphans."

"Worst hit is the North East where insurgency is well pronounced. The United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) noted that over 700,000 children will suffer acute malnutrition in the North East. The entire population of the North East is 26 million, some 12 percent of the total population of Nigeria."

He said at the group’s annual meeting of the The Patriotic Nigerians Forum (PNF) in late 2023, decided to focus in 2024 on orphans the starting point was to embark on a tour of Nigeria to feel the impulse.

He said ‘We then in early March organised a tour of the country. We saw poverty in its grimiest form. We saw poor and malnourished children. We saw people without hope. We saw hunger in its raw form. This has raised a new consciousness in us. We deeply concerned about the plight of these children, especially orphans.’

He spoke further that during the tour, ‘we cannot but mention the sterling example of an American-based Professor of Medicine, who through his Orphanage Foundation has built and donated an Orphanage in Imo State, Owerri.’

He said Prof Umerah singlehandedly built and donated the Dr Emeka Orphanage Home in Owerri, Imo State. He is the President and Executive Program Director, of the Public Policy Advocacy and Research Council, Inc (PPARC). The PPARC is a non-partisan political think tank aiding policy makers in the research and advocacy of public policy, research, and education in the United States. Besides, the council performs lawful advocacy and lobbying activities in the USA.

He observed that apart from other projects he has donated in other parts of the Southeast, Professor Umerah is known all over the world as someone who has brought immense joy to orphans in Nigeria.

He said the group believes any one that wants to serve the country in any capacity should make a difference towards the development of Nigeria. ‘Prof Emeka Umerah is an excellent example. In Imo state, we saw hundreds of orphans that have been given hope and uplifted from despair. This is one of the greatest signpost of nation building in a collective sense, not leaving development all alone to the government.’

While commending Prof Umerah for some ongoing projects to support the Federal Government of Nigeria, the PNF calls on Nigerian philanthropists to do more in their states by emulating him

Career / Beware Of Fake IBD X Account, IBD Foundation Warns by mrpossiboo(m): 10:19am On Feb 29
It has come to our attention that there is an account on X, formerly known as Twitter, with the handle @IBD_2027, which purports to be a support group for Alhaji Ibrahim Dende Egugungbohun's fictional gubernatorial political ambition in 2027. We want to clarify that Alhaji Ibrahim Dende Egugungbohun, a successful entrepreneur and philanthropist, has no intentions of running for any political office in 2027 or the future. The aforementioned account, created in January 2024, is spreading speculations.

Alhaji Ibrahim Dende Egugungbohun's primary focus is on managing his conglomerate and devoting his time to the IBD foundation, which aims to positively impact people's lives. While he has strong connections with various political figures due to his grassroots upbringing in Ilaro, he has no desire to pursue a political career or engage in any political activities. We urge the public to disregard any pages on X or Instagram that claim IBD is running for political office, as these stories are baseless and mere products of the author's imagination.

It is important to note that IBD has no account on X other than on Instagram, where his handle is @IBDDende. Any other accounts on X or Instagram that claim to be IBD Dende are parody accounts and should not be taken seriously.

We encourage everyone to be cautious of misinformation and avoid being misled by it.

Politics / Ogbeni Lanre Banjo: Celebrating A Patriotic Nigerian, Advocate Of Good Governanc by mrpossiboo(m): 4:33am On Feb 29
By Kosamatu Raji

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy, says Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Ogbeni Lanre Banjo practicalises this on various issues that affect the masses in Nigeria regardless of the cost to him.

Lanre Banjo adopted the use of the appellation "Ogbeni" from a letter the late sage and Premier of the old Western Region, Chief Obafemi Awolowo used in the salutation of a personal letter he sent to him shortly before his demise.

He considered it to be unique, especially from the sage who upon his death, was described as the best President Nigeria never had, by the late Biafra warlord, Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu. It is on record that 27 years after his demise, Awolowo's performance in terms of taking care of the masses has not been beaten.

Before his foray into the politics of Nigeria, Ogbeni Lanre Banjo, had worked in various positions in the United States of America where he served as Director of Policy and Procedures for the District of Columbia Government and as the Treasurer to the Mayor of Washington DC, the Honorable Marion Barry, Council member Sandy Allen and House of Representative, Honorable Charles Moreland. He served passionately in different offices without any blemish and to date he remains an incorruptible Nigerian.

Ogbeni Lanre Banjo is a democrat and a firm believer in the rule of law and a society free from corruption, dictatorship and bad governance. He fought tirelessly in conjunction with other like minds to end military dictatorship in Nigeria.

After the annulment of June 12, 1993, presidential election, Ogbeni Lanre Banjo joined forces with late elder statesman, Pa Anthony Enahoro and other pro-democracy activists and leaders of Civil Society Groups for the actualisation of the mandate of the acclaimed winner of the June 12 presidential election, Chief M.K.O. Abiola (now late) and the restoration of democracy.

The Nigerian Embassy on 16th Street Northwest Washington, DC was forcefully taken over in protest of the annulment of the June 12 elections under the chairmanship of Ogbeni Banjo with Ambassador Kazaure held hostage by the leaders of the organisation led by Shola Ogunbode, Kunle Badmus, Akib Abiola and Segun Ajibulu, among others, who were arrested by the United States Secret Services.

Those arrested in that protest were represented pro bono by Ogbeni Banjo's friend, Attorney Shola Ayeni.  The struggle pitched him and those in the fight to make personal sacrifices and in some instances at the risk of their lives. He was upright throughout the struggle without corrupting himself with the 'king's meal.'  When the military indicated plans to hand over to civil rule, Ogbeni Lanre Banjo, joined the late Chief Gani Fawehinmi-led National Conscience Party (NCP) as a foundation member and was very close to the late fierce human rights lawyer until he died. Based on his passion to change the political narrative in his State and Nigeria by extension, Ogbeni Lanre Banjo contested the 2003, 2007 and 2011 governorship elections in Ogun State on the ticket of the National Conscience Party (NCP).

Although he lost the elections, his participation had enriched governance in the State. During the campaigns, he sensitised the electorates about what good governance is and the benefits that could be gains of democracy.

He spoke eloquently about the brilliant programmes he planned to bring on board to governance with the experience he had garnered in the country revered as a bastion of democracy.Ogbeni is an advocate of electoral reforms that will provide an open and equal-level playing field for contestants.

He believes that for open and true democratic principles to be seen as being done, political parties should have a database of all their registered members who must be made to vote in direct primary elections to elect candidates to fly the flags of political parties in elections.

The process he believes will prevent crises in the political parties which often lead to dissatisfaction when some candidates who lose at indirect primaries feel aggrieved and leave a party.Ogbeni Lanre Banjo was chosen by his revered friend, former Governor Ibikunle Amosun as the first appointed Ogun State Representative on the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission and as Ogun State member on the Board of Glanvill Enthoven Insurance Brokers Ltd., a subsidiary of Odu'a Investment Company.

He later became the Chairman of the Company and contributed significantly towards the efficient running of the Insurance brokerage and left the firm better than he met it.Ogbeni is an astute politician who has zero tolerance for corruption. He stands firmly against waste and financial recklessness.

His love for Nigeria is undying and he contributes by way of interviews through television, newspapers, magazines and online platforms for the good of the country. He is friendly, sociable and jovial.

He respects both the old and the young. Ogbeni is a good dresser who knows how to combine colours. He is a man of style with a unique round cap, which has automatically become his identity any time he steps out. One striking character trait of Ogbeni is his humility.

He is not proud and I respect him so much for that. He is also a generous and compassionate man, who is loving and caring. He believes strongly in contributing to the growth and development of others and today a lot of people have benefited directly or indirectly from his generosity and empathy.

As Ogbeni Lanre Banjo celebrates his 66th birthday today, March 1, 2024, he deserves to be recognised and appreciated for the contributions he has made to the birth of the democracy we are enjoying today through his association with the late Pa Enahoro and others in the struggle for a return to civil rule and his contribution to the politics of Ogun State and Nigeria at large.

Let me end by wishing Ogbeni Lanre Banjo a happy birthday and a long life to continue to give of his best to our country, Nigeria. I am confident that one day his contributions will be duly recognised and rewarded.

His efforts and faith in Nigeria will not be in vain. May you live to be a hundred, Ogbeni Lanre Banjo.Alhaji Kosamatu Raji writes from Abuja, in the Federal Capital Territory.

Celebrities / Dende Not A Smuggler, Gun Runner, Ogun Monarch Defends Businessman by mrpossiboo(m): 2:17pm On Feb 27
...says media report aimed to defame hotelier

The Eselu of Iselu Kingdom in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, Oba Akintunde Akinyemi, has faulted an investigative report indicting popular businessman, lbrahim Dende Egungbohun as a smuggler and gun runner.

An investigative journalist with Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ), Fisayo Soyombo, had in a report accused Egungbohun, popularly known as IBD Dende of smuggling contrabands, such as foreign parboiled rice, poultry products and guns into the country through Ogun State border communities.

Fisayo also accused Egungbohun, an hotelier of conniving with customs officers to smuggle illicit items into the country.

But, reacting to the report, Oba Akinyemi in a statement he personally signed and made available to journalists in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on Monday, declared that the report was aimed at defaming Egungbohun, who hails from Ilaro in Yewa South local government area of Ogun State.

"I have been a first class monarch since the year 2005 and Ibrahim Egungbohun, popularly called IBD Dende is one of my subjects with high integrity and pedigree.

"IBD Dende is not a smuggler, but a clearing and forwarding agent who carries out his legitimate work of importation of goods and services through the land border just like other clearing and forwarding agents who carry out their jobs through the Apapa Port, among others.

"The investigation carried out by the reporter was done to defame the person of IBD Dende because the source(s) of his information was questionable. How on earth would a journalist interrogate certain people in the community instead of interfacing with the security agents whose jobs are to secure the border areas in the country like the Nigeria Customs Service, the Directorate of State Security (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force?

"The assertion that IBD Dende had been arrested several times and nothing happened to him was a baseless statement. It is a normal thing to invite people for questioning and if the security agents are satisfied with any suspects, they will definitely release him.

"The reporter should not usurp the work of the security agents who have not found anything incriminating on different occasions that IBD Dende was interrogated", the monarch submitted in the statement.

Business / Alhaji Ibrahim Dende: A Great Philanthropist With No Political Inclination by mrpossiboo(m): 10:06am On Feb 26
ALHAJI IBRAHIM DENDE: A GREAT PHILANTHROPIST WITH NO POLITICAL INCLINATION

....A Man Who Has Been Directly Involved In Helping A lot of People Without Preference for Media Coverage

By; Saheed Adeola (Mrpossible)

“I believe that we all have a responsibility to give back. No one becomes successful without lots of hard work, support from others, and a little luck. Giving back creates a virtuous cycle that makes everyone more successful.” – Ron Conway.

In this part of the world, there are oodles of people, who are highly successful and well known but choose to use their affluence to oppress others – starting from their domestic workers to the indigents in their immediate community.

While others aren’t so loud with what God has blessed them with and are doing so much, touching lives, and changing the narratives of poverty by lifting one or two people in their immediate community, town, state and country at large.

It is one thing to give out to the less privileged for the accolades of men and jamboree, and it is another thing entirely to give from a stance of free will so others can be full beneficiaries and be able to live the life of their dreams.

Needless to also over flog the raging issues on how that certain folks in the Nigerian society do a show-party in the name of philanthropy, just to hide under the guise of a political ambition to win the hearts of the masses and turnout to pay lip services to the needs of these same people they pretended to care for after getting to the seat of power.

This shows that the intent of men greatly differs from each other. While some people just want to help only to later rip their beneficiaries in the word of the popular Zazu crooner, Portable, some good Samaritans are majorly about giving back and adding values to the lives of others, indigents especially to raise other successful people in the society.

Just like Katie Cassidy, who says giving back is so important since it makes others feel good and makes her feel good in return, the person of Alhaji Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun, a native of Ebute-Igbooro under Ilaro, in Ogun State is a direct representative or replica of a man who gives and not expect anything in return. The Yoruba tribe of Nigeria will fondly call such "Afuni mawobe".

So you’re sure that this isn’t just any type of PR for a harmless man, his reputable charity deeds have gone beyond the walls of Ilaro, to different parts of Ogun State and Nigeria at large. You’d recall that some hip hop and fuji artistes, as well as movie makers in Nigeria, give kudos to him in appreciation of his benevolent and magnanimous acts here and there through their works of art, though he doesn’t like being shouted about by the media.

You’d surely agree with me that it is very rare to see a Billionaire who made his wealth through legitimate means not being shouted about on the internet and local/terrestrial media.

Fondly called IBD Dende, he has been directly involved in helping a lot of people without preference for media coverage, he’s a benevolent man who believes that when God lifts you to an extent, even if you aren’t stupendously rich, it is wise to help others that are struggling up the cadre. In the same way, he prioritizes education; he does the same to those with enviable skills that need to be promoted so they get equal opportunities like those with well-to-do parents and guardians. This is evident through his many initiatives churned out via his Ibrahim Dende Foundation (IBD Foundation).

Giving credence to this, “The Top Ten Magazine” – a publication widely known for celebrating the top of the best in different endeavours, recently spoke about some of his good deeds while presenting him an award of excellence in 2021 as the Philanthropist of the year.

The publication said: “For many years, the Ibrahim Dende Foundation (IBD Foundation), his brainchild, has been involved in activities that are designed to eradicate poverty in the Yewa community in Ogun State, through an offer of scholarships to indigent students of the area and empowerment programmes that are aimed to alleviating poverty. For instance, three indigent students of Obanla Adeola; one primary 6 students of Muslim School, Oja-Odan, Adegoke Michael, as well as one primary 5 students of Deuteronomy Academy, Ilaro, have the scholarship of IBD Foundation to enable them to obtain a secondary education. These are just but a few instances of those currently benefiting from the scholarship programme of the foundation.”

This same foundation that cares for all and sundry, under the leadership of IBD Dende’s wife, Mrs Omolara Dende was actively involved in the distribution of palliatives to lessen the pains experienced by people as a result of the lockdown during the covid-19 pandemic. In total, the organisation donated 200 bags of rice and 70 jerry cans of vegetable oil to communities in the Ilaro and Oja Odan axis.

In a bid to discover and empower creative talents from Yewa land, IBD Foundation equally sponsored Yewa’s Got Talent Show, a first of its kind where beauty pageants would be unearthed and the winner would be crowned Arewa Yewa. This will further give a facelift not just to the pageantry endeavours of the winner but to Ilaro and Ogun State as a whole.

Apart from his outstanding involvement in charity, Alhaji Egungbohun is a successful business tycoon whose acumen has been demonstrated over and again. By virtue of his line of businesses, he reportedly has over 200 employees directly under him whose salaries he pays without delay or any form of toxicity in the work environment.

Being a businessman of repute, he’s the Chairman of IBD Group, with interests in several sectors, including Hospitality, Clearing and Forwarding, Automobiles and Real Estate. He’s also heavily involved in the Quarry and Mining industry cut across Nigeria and doing very well in a host of other businesses.

The hospitality arm of IBD-Impex, IBD Hotels is strategically located in Ilaro and Abeokuta as well as Hotel Central Do Dende in Cotonou, a neighbouring country. Adding to this, a voyage to any of these hotels fully depicts class with a total touch of excellence all through! His auto line of business cannot as well be ignored which its breathtaking office is located in Cotonou, the Republic of Benin's commercial capital and here in Nigeria.

This same man has reportedly contributed materially to the growth and success of superstars like Pasuma, Olamide, Phyno, Lil Kesh and Small Doctor.

In a nutshell, some heroes do not wear capes, and those who go about arraying themselves as superstars should take a cue from the amazing works Alhaji Dende is doing, exemplifying his prolific contributions to the growth of human lives, success and development in every aspect.

Career / ACMF Organises Free Two - Day Training With Grants For Students Of Tertiary Inst by mrpossiboo(m): 10:15pm On Feb 25
In order to ensure that they develop and acquire extra skills in Project Report Writing as well as topnotch Public Presentation knowledge, Accurate Creative Minds Foundation ( ACMF) has organised a two-day free training for students of tertiary institutions in Ogun State.

The workshop, according to the foundation was also aimed to build up the over 40 students' knowledge in their discipline through thorough research which would in turn open their eyes to entrepreneurial aspect of their course of study as well as latest public speaking skills.

The training which was held at the Foundation 's Youth Development Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, the state capital, for two Saturdays, had Associate Professor O. A Ogunkoya of Business Administration, Olabisi Onabanjo University, OOU, Ago-iwoye and his counterpart from the Department of Chemical Sciences, Dr. A. O Ogunmoye as well as the foundation's founder, Mr. Babatunde Odedele, among others as resource persons.

Among the sponsors included "Mahjeck Globals, Heri Global Concept, Prima Medical Diagnostics, Oasis Medicals, Olamy Motors and Accurate Medical Diagnosis".

The foundation also provided cash grant to the three best students who excelled after practical presentations which was examined by external educationist cum panelists with N20,000 each as well as financial incentives for all participants for the duration of the training.

The best students are Okunyomi Ezekiel, Bashir Bushroh and Fadeyi Tolulope.

Speaking to newsmen after the presentation of the grants, Mr. Odedele noted that the workshop was to enhance students' knowledge in composing reports, projects, with focus on final-year students writing project.

He lamented that it was worrisome that some final year students in the country, have neglected the crucial process of their academics, explaining that the workshop was organised to address the situation.

He said "This workshop, titled 'Seminar and Project Report Writing with Presentation Skills for Tertiary Institution Students, aims to enhance students' knowledge in composing reports, particularly as final-year students. In the current Nigerian educational system, it is common thing for final-year students to conduct research, which should be documented or published. Unfortunately, many students and graduates neglect this crucial step".

According to him, "Recognizing this issue as detrimental, our foundation seeks to address it. We propose a collaborative effort to educate students on proper report writing for academic and future purposes. Often, students opt to pay business centers to handle their projects, affecting the overall quality of their education".

He added "By empowering students to independently undertake and complete their projects, we believe it can expose them to entrepreneurial aspects related to their studies. This stimulation could redirect students toward a more productive academic path, ultimately contributing to their success post-graduation.

The provided grant serves as a token to support students financially, acknowledging the rising cost of materials like paper. Printing expenses are also considered, with the grant designed to alleviate some of the financial burdens associated with project work".

As motivation, Odedele said "As an incentive, the first three participants will receive a special reward of ₦20,000, while others will receive the standard token".

The panelists, Mr Ojo Bankole, Engr. Fayemi Oluwatosin and Mr Olugbode Timothy while speaking commended the foundation for the educational gesture.

They also called on the participants to make good use of the knowledge acquired at the workshop diligently.

Okunyomi who is the best overall student, told newsmen that he was elated for emerging as the participant with a unique presentation after facing some challenges before attending the workshop.

He said his resilient paved way for his participation at the workshop.

Okunyomi who commended the organisers for the opportunity, described the free two-day workshop as magnanimous gesture, stressing that the workshop was highly meticulous and enriching.

He said "One notable aspect about my approach to any situation is my unwavering commitment to learning, particularly during meetings where there is a chance to acquire knowledge without any cost involved. Public speaking has become a true passion of mine, and I make it a point to leverage every opportunity to hone this skill. So, when I stumbled upon this, free two-day training, I initially found myself in a bit of difficulty as I didn't have a smartphone at the time.

Despite my reservations and doubts about how I would cope without this essential gadget, fate intervened. A friend informed me about the opportunity, and although skepticism lingered, I decided to embrace the challenge. The absence of a smartphone seemed like a hurdle, but seeking assistance from my roommate, who happened to possess both a smartphone and a laptop, provided a solution".

"There were moments of discouragement, moments when the prospect of not having these technological tools almost dissuaded me from participating. However, a resilient spirit prevailed, urging me to give it my best shot. Even as recently as yesterday, there was a lingering discouragement that almost convinced me not to present. Yet, here I am, having defied the odds and presented, securing the title of the first winner in this competition – a personal triumph aligned with my earnest prayers", he stated.

Okunyomi said "This program isn't unfamiliar territory; I attended a previous edition during my second year. However, the restriction to final-year students for presentations prevented my active involvement at that time.

The fact that I am here now, seizing this valuable opportunity, fills me with gratitude. I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the organizers for their truly mind-blowing efforts, which include not only the two weeks of meticulously organized lectures but also provisions for refreshments and grants for participants' diverse purposes".

He added "This comprehensive support, provided free of charge, is nothing short of a magnanimous gesture from the organization. It showcases a commitment to fostering holistic growth and development among participants. I express my sincere thanks and hope that the organization continues to receive divine support and achieve unparalleled success in their future endeavors".

It has come to our attention that baseless claims have been made, accusing Ibrahim of engaging in illegal activities such as smuggling rice and guns, and aspiring to contest for a governorship position. We would like to take this opportunity to shed light on the truth and set the record straight.

" I felt we need to change the narrative, so I came here , spent three years living here, observing, taking note of their problems, and I realize that they have lands in abundant in Yewa but we are not getting as much as we want, that was the reason I gave up my law career to focus on agriculture.

"In yewa, agriculture is seen as man’s job, women are just backups lines, but I was able to show them that women are actually part of this, they really matter, I was able to encourage them, give them incentive and then I used myself as examples to show them it’s actually possible."

Politics / EFCC Case: Osho Slams Oluomo's Claim Of Taking Bullet For Ogun Lawmakers by mrpossiboo(m): 3:16pm On Jan 27
In a recent development at the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. (Barr.) Solomon Osho, a member of the 9th Ogun State House of Assembly, has strongly refuted the impeached Assembly Speaker, Hon. Olakunle Oluomo's claim of taking a bullet for fellow lawmakers during the EFCC investigation.

The former lawmaker said the former speaker should rather face his corruption case alone.

It would be recalled that in 2022, the Economic & Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) filed an 11 count charge of conspiracy, forgery and stealing against Olakunle Oluomo and three others.

Addressing journalists yesterday, Oluomo insisted that he still remains the Speaker and leader of the Assembly saying that the action of the 18 lawmakers was “unconstitutional, null, void and of no effect"

He said the 18 lawmakers had no justification for the ‘illegal’ removal and that the action did not follow due process, therefore he would approach the court for adjudication on the matter.

Speaking on the EFCC case, the impeached Speaker said all the 9th Assembly members were invited by the EFCC, but he took the bullet for others as the leader of the house.

According to him "Even the case of EFCC that they're talking about, I just took bullet for all of them, all of us were invited by the EFCC, I just stand as a leader, I have the responsibility."

"When I got to the EFCC, I said look, I am the leader of that place, any questions, direct it to me, you don't need to invite all of them and I am the presiding officer and my clerk is here who is the accounting officer, who else do you need? I took the bullet for everybody.

Oluomo continues "And the money they're talking about that time, when I came, the house has about five accounts, I closed all to remain just one and all money that is giving to us goes to that account, and from there, it is transfer to everybody every month, the records are there, thank God the EFCC has asked the bank for the statement of account and I am not the account officer and I am not responsible for anything but I took bullet for everybody as a leader that is responsible"

Reacting to Oluomo's claim, Hon Osho said Oluomo lied about taking the bullet for fellow lawmakers during the EFCC investigation.

In an interview, Osho while going down memory lane, explained that his suspension along with former Deputy Speaker, Dare Kadiri, the Court ruled fairly, that the Suspension was “illegal, null & void”.

He added that the court gave him (Oluomo) opportunity to file his defence, but he failed in doing that.

Osho disclosed that Oluomo as a Speaker of the house, failed to give him and Kadiri fair hearing before suspending them.

According to Osho, "His only defence was that, the Assembly wasn’t given three months notice before going to court. How does that justify the “jestapo or coup-like” he used in suspending us (Myself and Hon Kadiri)".

"Did he too give us fair hearing? Were we given any notice before our suspension? Did he too give the Assembly 3 months notice before filing his court processes yesterday?"

While speaking about Oluomo EFCC case, Hon. Osho said "some of us refused to visit the EFCC office to identify our forged signatures, out of our respect for Mr Governor, and because the invite wasn’t addressed to us individually. So he should stop saying he took any “bullet” for me. If he says he is not the Accounting Officer, is he not the Approving Officer? Can the Clerk spend any money without his approval? Other members were invited by EFCC as witnesses, not as accomplices. The invite was to identify our signatures that he, Oluomo & Ckerk were alleged to have forged on payment receipts, but he used the Governor to block us from attending. And that is why he is facing his prosecution alone at the Federal High Court.
